Did this celebration start with Victoria or was there a Carl Gustav Day? Also it looks like they were celebrating the event as far back as 1979 which was that murky time when Carl Philip was Crown Prince, so was it intended to be for Victoria as the Crown Princess or just a celebration of Princess Victoria's birthday?

No, there hasn't been a Carl Gustaf day. It has been told many times in the press, and the Victoria Day organizer tells at a book written of him, that he wanted to do something for Öland, so that the tourists would come there and it would be known better. Wiestål contacted the king and the court, and they were positive. And so the idea of a Victoria Day was born. Of course then it was already known that Victoria would soon be the crown princess. And so the first Victoria Day was held in 1979.
At the Facebook of Victoriadagen is an article about Daniel getting the book Christina Wendel wrote about Kay Wiestål, the organizer of Victoria Day. The book is called "Kay & the Crown Princess", and it was published just before Victoria Day in 2015. It tells about the career of Kay Wiestål, but also about the Victoria Day. When Daniel visited Kalmar on 2nd December with Prince Daniel Fellowship, author Christina Wendel gave the book to Daniel.
- I know her, Daniel joked when he got the book and continued "What a great book!"
Neither Victoria and Daniel had got the book before this. Christina Wendel told that it was a Christmas present and that they could read it at the Haga Palace.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me out, I'm interested in seeing some pictures of VIctoriadagen from 1982, 1984 and 1986 because I have never seen any from those years. Did they not do it those years? I have never seen any from those three years.

The organizer of the Victoria Day (Victoriadagen) concert, Kay Wiestål, has confirmed to Expressen the first artists to this year's Victoriadagen-concert. They are Frans (the swedish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest) and Charlotte Perrelli (the winner of the ESC in 1999). The host of the concert is Kalle Moraeus.

The organizer of the Victoria Day (Victoriadagen) concert, Kay Wiestål, has confirmed to the media three more artists who are performing at this year's Victoriadagen-concert. They are opera singer Loa Falkman, Lisa Miskovsky and Jon Henrik Fjällgren (Swedish-Sami singer).
- Now we have a broad line-up, just like we usually do. We want to have an opera singer every year and we are pleased that Loa is coming.
Wiestål books artists in collaboration with SVT's Göran Winberg and there can become more names in the program.
- We may book one more artist. Perhaps a local artist, says Kay Wiestål.

At the website of the Solliden Palace is an article "Victoria Day behind the Scenes"
Everything is polished. We keep our fingers crossed that the rain clouds stay away. This is the day when Solliden is at its best. It is July 14, and the Crown Princess's birthday.
We divide the year before and after the Victoria Day - the year's absolute highlight. The whole week is hectic, we have more visitors than usual, at the same time as the Park should be fine and prepared for celebrations. No one has a holiday and in total, including the court's security people, we are about 50 people working on the Victoria Day.
Already at seven in the morning, the first visitors have taken place outside the entrance, and when the gates are opened at 11 am, it is full of people everywhere. We have learned to let the press through a gate on the side - their race for the best place can sometimes affect the regular visitors with bumps and bruises.
The King gives a speech and leads the song and the cheers with equally good mood every year. The Crown Princess tries to talk to everyone, receive presents and flowers. Her walk along the crowd usually takes a couple of hours.
Sometimes it can be a circus here - small incidents that go wrong, press people being displaced - and yes, it has happened that it rains. But if you come to Solliden at Victoria Day we hope that you get the same party atmosphere we are experiencing on 14th July each year.

Henrik Lundqvist, the professional ice hockey goaltender for the New York Rangers in NHL, gets this year's Victoria Scholarship.
Lundqvist said to Johan T Lindwall:
- I was told the other day and it's an incredible crowd of sportsmen and women whom I will be now connecting to. It is of course great fun to be part of the list.
What does it mean for you to get the prize?
- It's always special when you get some kind of award for sporting items or things you do on the side of the ice. I feel a great gratitude and pride.
Lundqvist told also that he has never been in Öland and takes his family with him in July. He has watched TV clips from Victoria's birthday celebrations and it seems to be a real festival that will be fun to be a part of.
When Princess Madeleine lived a period in New York with former fiancé Jonas Bergstrom, they were often on the New York Rangers home games.
- Yes, it will be fun to get to meet members of the family and get this award, like I said, an extreme honor. Fun to experience this.

The founder and organizer of the Victoria Day (Victoriadagen) concert, Kay Wiestål, tells to Expressen, that he has just got a letter from the Royal Court. The court confirms that Victoria, Daniel, the king and queen will celebrate Victoria's 40th birthday in Öland on 14th July. And Wiestål thinks that other members of the family will come too. Wiestål tells that they start selling tickets on Friday.

Victoriadagen 1982. It doesn't seem that that year they went to the sports grounds at Borgholm until the following year 1983, I could be wrong but I've never seen any, I've only ever seen them at Solliden to greet people. I think Victoria was just beautiful 5 year old but I'm a sucker for some 80's fashion
