We are so happy and proud to tell you that the fifth lock facility between Lake Mälaren and Saltsjön is named Victoriaslussen (Victoria's Lock), after Crown Princess Victoria. Hurray hurray Hurray!
A little lock history: In 1642, the first lock between Södermalm and the Old Town was opened. Since then, the lock has been rebuilt several times due to changed conditions.

Crown Princess Victoria has answered "yes" to the big question. In six months it will explode!
Victoria has kept it a secret but now it's coming out - a tribute to the Crown Princess is paid in a unique way!
On Wednesday, it was clear and Mayor Anna König Jerlmyr could not be happier:
- It is gratifying for us that the Crown Princess has said yes, she says to Dagens Nyheter.
The municipal board in Stockholm has decided that the new lock facility will be named after Victoria: "Victoria lock".
The motivation takes advantage of the Crown Princess's climate interest, which is Victoria's big heart issue:
"The name of the new lock facility fits well into both its historical and forward-looking context and is well connected to the Crown Princess's documented deep commitment to environmental and climate issues."
The court welcomes that bridges, locks and buildings are named after royalty, Margareta Thorgren tells Dagens Nyheter.
