The foundation was founded in 2010 by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel
Before their wedding in 2010, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel noticed that there was a great commitment and many who wanted to give gifts. The Crown Princess Couple saw it as an opportunity to gather good powers for a good cause, and chose to form the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation with the hope that the foundation can do good and give back for many years to come.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel chose the specialization of the foundation on the basis of their big heart issues; to counteract exclusion and promote good health for children and young people. The foundation initiates, illuminates and finances projects that promote good health and strengthened community among children and young people in Sweden.
The Crown Princess Couple Foundation's activities can be implemented thanks to private donations from partners. Our partners generous and long-term gifts enable the foundation to support organizations, distribute grants to projects and invest in important initiatives.

The Swedish Crown Princess Couple's Foundation
We aim to prevent social isolation and promote good health among children and youths in Sweden.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel established a foundation to mark the occasion of their marriage.
The Crown Princess Couple would like their Foundation to promote good health and combat exclusion among children and young people in Sweden. The choice of focus for the foundation has been determined by the Crown Princess Couple's commitment to issues related to young people's health and exclusion experienced by children and young people.
The Foundation will be able to provide grants to other organisations that work with these issues, but may also run projects of its own within this field.
Social isolation
Exclusion is a problem that often lead to human suffering. In Sweden, more than 15% of youths fail to fail to complete school and are at risk to end up in social isolation.
Health
Every fifth child in Sweden is overweight. An unhealthy childhood often lead to an unhealty adulthood with increased risk of health related problems.

On November 12, the fourth Pep Forum will be organized, this year in a new digital vintage. The theme of this year's Pep Forum is equal health - an acute issue that permeates the work of Generation Pep. Today, health is not equal and the conditions look different depending on where you were born, who you are and where you live. This must be changed.
Read more about the theme under the tab "Equal Health." You can find the tab above.
The invitation and program will come during the fall.

Annika Sjöö is a new ambassador for Generation Pep
Annika Sjöö, dancer and training profile, is a new Pep Ambassador! Annika loves to inspire people to move, and feels great commitment to the health of children and young people. This week she will also run a digital dance school in Generation Pep's social media.
Now we have been working with our Pep ambassadors for a little over 8 months and we think it's so much fun. Our ambassadors help us spread our message to more people, but also fill our accounts with fun and developing content.
In the coming weeks, we will present some additions to our ambassadorial team and today we start with the first new ambassador. We are so happy to present our latest addition to our Pep ambassadors. None other than the dancer and training profile Annika Sjöö, known among other things from Let's Dance! Annika will also run a digital dance school for us this week on our social media, keep an eye out!
Why have you chosen to get involved in the health of children and young people and become an ambassador for Generation Pep?
- I love to inspire people to move and the foundation for the joy of movement is laid in children and young people! That's why I think Generation Pep is such a fantastic initiative and which I am proud to be a part of! I am also a trained sports teacher so it feels natural for me.
What is it about dancing that you think is so fun?
- It gives so much joy while being fun and sweaty!
What are your top tips for getting started with dancing?
- To dare to start! Everyone can learn to dance.
Annika Sjöö är ny ambassadör för Generation Pep - Generation Pep

It has been previously told that Annika Sjöö has also taught the Crown Princess couple to dance. Before Victoria and Daniel's wedding, they practiced their wedding waltz with Annika.

The ICA Foundation and Generation PEP have extended their collaboration with the aim of getting Swedish children and young people to move more and eat healthier. Prince Daniel is an ambassador for Generation PEP, where one of the goals is to have twice as many teenagers, girls and children by 2030, whose parents have a low income level, exercise according to the recommendation (60min / day) and eat a balanced diet.
ICA Foundation is involved in enabling Generation PEP's objectives by channeling the great commitment that exists into concrete measures.

The photos are from the meeting in January 2020.

In March it was told at a press release that Generation Pep cooperates again with Bonnier Fakta and they publish another book, "Worst best health" by Maria Dufva.
The book was released on 24th July.
For children, life with the digital screens is full of opportunities. But it can also cause problems. Apps and games created to induce reward hormones make us sit still and neglect food and sleep. In "Worst best health", Maria Dufva addresses the young people and explains with the help of experts in exercise, diet, sleep and mental health how sitting with the screen can affect tthe wellbeing. The book is full of facts, advice and real stories from children that Maria has met in her work as a criminologist and lecturer in schools. She often meets children who feel addicted to their mobile phones and wonders how they can break the pattern. This is the sequel to "Worst Best Network" which has sold over 150,000 copies. The book is part of a collaboration with Generation Pep.

Mustafa "Musse" Mohamed is the new ambassador for Generation Pep. For Mustafa, the issue of children and young people's health is close to his heart, and today he shares three tips for those who want to get started with running.
On Monday, we presented our new ambassador Annika Sjöö, and now you will meet another new ambassador. No less than the long-distance runner Mustafa "Musse" Mohamed. Mustafa holds the Swedish record in marathon and has won the Göteborgsvarvet and Lidingöloppet.
Why did you choose to commit to the health of children and young people and become an ambassador for Generation Pep?
- This is an important issue that is close to my heart.
What is the best thing about running?
- It is an effective form of training that does not require a lot of equipment and can be conducted anywhere.
What are your tips for someone who wants to get started with running?
- 1. Set goals. Both long-term and short-term.
- 2. Start calmly. Do not be in a hurry. It takes time for the body to get used to the load that running entails. You can advantageously alternate jogging with walks in the beginning. Better too short and too slow in the beginning than too long and too fast.
- 3. Company. If you can get someone to run with or cycle with, it is more fun and easier to train.
Mustafa _Musse_ Mohamed är ny ambassadör för Generation Pep - Generation Pep

The eight Pep Ambassadors:
Mårten Nylen, health inspector, program manager and lecturer, and has been featured in television programs such as Ninja Warrior and Biggest Loser.
Per Kasperi, para hockey player, has participated in three Paralympics.
Jiloan Hamad, football professional who previously played in Hammarby. Nowadays he plays in the Croatian league.
Sarah Sjöström, elite swimmer, Olympic and World Champion in several distances.
Jessica Almenäs, program host, has led the Olympic broadcasts, among other things, and also runs a training pod.
Anders Hansen, doctor, psychiatrist and author

The nomination time for "Årets Peppare" Prize 2021 was opened on 27th August.
"Årets Peppare" Prize is awarded to an actor for active stance on children's health. The nomination is now open for "Årets Peppare" Prize 2021.
Generation Pep's vision is that all children and young people in Sweden should have the opportunity and desire to live an active and healthy life. Part of this work is about making visible and paying attention to those who create the conditions for as many children and young people as possible to experience the joy of movement, and thereby inspire others. That is why we have created "Årets Peppare" Prize Prize - an award that will reward a person, organization or initiative that in an inclusive and accessible way has succeeded in getting children and young people in Sweden to move. "Årets Peppare" Prize is awarded in connection with the Sports gala. New for this year is that "Årets Peppare" Prize is awarded in collaboration with the Swedish Sports Confederation.
Årets Peppare _ Generation Pep - Generation Pep

A recent survey from the World Health Organization shows that Swedish students' health is at the bottom in comparison with many other countries. We know we can do better than that. Generation Pep has since 2018 supported schools that methodically and actively want to include physical activity and healthy eating habits as a natural part of the school day, and now we are expanding the support. Now there is an opportunity for your schools to certify you as a Generation Pep School!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CEiviTagdWL/

Schools can receive diplomas from Carolina Klüft and Prince Daniel
Generation Pep has since 2018 supported schools that methodically and actively want to work to promote children and young people's physical activity and healthy eating habits. More than 1,500 primary schools across Sweden have chosen to work with the free digital method support Generation Pep Skola to improve their students' health.
The Pep report 2020 showed that only 2 out of 10 children in Sweden reach the recommended amount of 60 minutes of physical activity per day. A recently published study from the World Health Organization (WHO) could also establish that students in Sweden are some of the most sedentary in the world.
To improve support for schools, and make it easier for systematic health work to become a natural part of the school day, Generation Pep has now presented an opportunity for schools to certify themselves as Generation Pep Schools.
- We know that no player alone can reverse the worrying trend around children and young people's health, but together with you we are convinced that we can reverse the development and improve our students' health across the country, says Carolina Klüft, operations manager for Generation Pep.
With support from the curriculum and developed (by Generation Pep) in collaboration with schools and researchers at three Swedish universities, Generation Pep School is not only a simple tool to use, but also a tool based on research and evidence.
Through clear action plans, tips and support along the way, such as films and an inspiration bank, schools can now follow their work and even more systematically improve their work in six different areas such as active breaks and nutritious meals. For each completed area, there are opportunities for rewards and if the work includes all six areas for all students at the school, a diploma from Generation Pep, signed by Carolina Klüft and Prince Daniel, awaits.

"Värsta Bästa Hälsan" (Worst Best Health), a book to support young people about a healthy lifestyle
Maria Dufva is a criminologist and works with children who have been exposed to crime, but has over time specialized in online crime. She lectures to children, young parents and school staff and is often invited to comment on current events related to child safety online in various media. Her latest book "Worst Best Health" which is a collaboration with Generation Pep has recently been released and we have taken the opportunity to ask Maria some questions about the book.
Why did you want to write "Worst best health"?
It felt like a completely obvious sequel to Worst Best Online and kind of all kids have asked for the next book. VBN was more about crime, but not everyone is exposed to crime and therefore VBH was needed to highlight what we all - children and adults - need to be even more careful with today: how our health is affected by the digitalized present we live in and how we can make sure to feel as good as possible.
How do you want the book to be used?
All my work aims to start conversations: the book should preferably be read by both children and adults - preferably together or individually - the important thing is that the book leads to conversation. There are no obvious and simple solutions to everything, but daring to start talking and telling is the most important thing there is. Silence about problems leads no one anywhere. Reading, speaking and listening are the basis for future change work.

New Pep Park opens in Arenastaden
Work has now begun on the new Pep Park in Arenastaden, which will be completed in October. The park is the result of a collaboration between the City of Solna, Fabege and Generation Pep - an organization initiated by the Crown Princess Couple.
The purpose of the Pep Park concept is to give children, young people and adults the conditions for movement and exercise, in an environment that encourages both play and exercise. Unlike Solna's - and Sweden's - first Pep Park in Huvudsta: 100 meters Pep, the park is built in the middle of a well-visited urban environment, in close proximity to Friends Arena and Mall of Scandinavia
- Solna's second Pep Park will bring more life and movement to the district Arenastaden, and provide opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages to both play and exercise in everyday life, all year round, says Pehr Granfalk, chairman of the municipal board, city of Solna.
- Children and young people move too little, therefore society needs to work in different ways to create more opportunities for children to be physically active. Pep park is a fantastic example where children can both be challenged, try new things, but also mix play and movement in a natural way. The Pep Park in Huvudsta has been well attended and I believe and hope that this one in Arenastaden will also attract many children, young people and adults, says Carolina Klüft, operations manager at Generation Pep.
Pep Park in Arenastaden takes its starting point in the challenge of transforming a paved surface into a place that inspires play and movement as well as training and everyday exercise. The new park will for the most part consist of ground paintings with pixel graphics and perspectives that create playful 3D effects and encourage activities for visitors of all ages. The park will be completed in October.
Pep Parks in Solna is a collaboration between the city of Solna, Fabege and Generation Pep - an organization initiated by the Crown Princess couple. The initiative is a pilot project with the aim of developing a model for collaboration between a municipality and the local business community, which can be spread to other parts of the country. In the autumn 2019, the first Pep Park in Huvudsta was inaugurated, in the presence of Prince Daniel. A Pep Park is also planned in Haga Park.

About Victoria and Daniel's visit to Gävleborg county with Generation Pep

Press release from the County Administrative Board of Gävleborg
Generation Pep visits Gävleborg to talk about public health
In the presence of the Crown Princess couple, Carolina Klüft and Generation Pep will visit the County Administrative Board of Gävleborg on 11 September for a roundtable discussion on challenges and opportunities related to children and young people's physical health, in the afternoon two visits will be made to two different activities.
The recent pandemic has changed the work of many businesses. It has also shown the importance of active public health work, and that this work needs to prioritize our young people in order to improve our future public health. At the same time, in a Sifo survey commissioned by Generation Pep this spring, we could see that 1 in 3 parents stated that their children were less physically active now than before the Covid-19 pandemic struck and restrictions were introduced.
We know that physical activity and healthy eating are important factors in reducing the risk of a number of lifestyle-related diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart-lung disease. Despite this, the Pep report 2020 showed that only 14 percent of children in Sweden have a healthy lifestyle.
We have a big challenge ahead of us and at Generation Pep we work actively to create an increased commitment and knowledge in the issue of children and young people's health. As part of that work, Generation Pep is now visiting the County Administrative Board of Gävleborg at the invitation of Governor Per Bill. We will gather about 30 people who work in municipalities, regions and the county administrative board with children and young people's health. We will talk about the challenges and opportunities that are linked to the physical health of children and young people. In the afternoon, the Crown Princess Couple and Generation Pep visit Rapatac and Fritidsbanken in Sandviken to get more information about their activities.
The planning of the program has been done according the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations.
Generation Pep's operations manager Carolina Klüft and Governor Per Bill are available for questions and interviews between 12.00 and 12.30 at Dospace.
There is an opportunity for the media to also take photos and interview on site on the afternoon's two visits.
Photo opportunity takes place on arrival around 13.00 at Rapatac, where Moussa N'Diaye, founder of Rapatac, is also available for interview questions.
Photo opportunity takes place on arrival at 14.40 at Fritidsbanken in Sandviken, where it is also available for interview questions
Generation Pep besöker Gävleborg för att prata om folkhälsa _ Länsstyrelsen Gävleborg

And a couple of articles in Svensk Damtidning. The first one is especially stupid, as they often are. Victoria and Daniel are not going to Gävleborg because Madeleine is the duchess of Gästrikland but because of their work with Generation Pep:
Five years. So long ago, Princess Madeleine was on an official visit to her duchy of Gästrikland. A fact that has made some people in Gästrikland sour. They feel neglected by their Duchess, who has moved to Miami and who cannot leave the United States due to the pandemic.
And this is where Crown Princess Victoria comes into the picture. On Friday, she pulls out like the conscientious big sister she is and makes sure that Gävleborg gets a little royal splendor - after all. And she takes Prince Daniel with her.
Together with their organization Gen Pep, they will raise the issue of how children and young people are feeling in Gävleborg - and pep a little to make the children eat better and move more. The first stop will be a meeting with 30 of the county's key people, and in the afternoon Victoria and Daniel then go on to Sandviken to check out what is happening at Fritidsbanken and Rapatac, which helps with school work and with good things to do in their free time. For Prince Daniel, it is guaranteed to be a nostalgia kick, he took the student at Hammargymnasiet in Sandviken and did military service on I14 in Gävle. And then it is only 30 km home to Ockelbo.
Victoria rycker ut för att rädda Madeleine _ Svensk Dam

Everything is set up for a nice family reunion for Victoria and Daniel - and a delayed celebration of Ewa Westling's birthday!
Now on Friday, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are on an official assignment in Gävleborg and it is an assignment that has an extra golden edge - purely private. Because when it's time to round off in Sandviken in the afternoon - well then it's only three and a half miles home to Ewa and Olle Westling in Ockelbo.
According to what Svensk Damtidning experiences, the odds are very good that Victoria and Daniel will combine benefit with pleasure and that a visit to the red chain house on Smältvägen is put in the royal calendar.
Ewa Westling has just turned 76. And if Victoria and Daniel did not have a chance to celebrate her on the spot, then they have a golden opportunity now on Friday. As in all other families, family reunions have been delayed due to the pandemic. The 70-plus Ewa and Olle must be careful, but everyone can be sure that Victoria and Daniel are keeping the restrictions.

Generation Pep with its operations manager Carolina Klüft made a similar visit to Västerbotten county yesterday, they were invited by governor Helene Hellmark Knutson.
"Yesterday, Generation Pep, with operations manager Carolina Klüft, visited Västerbotten and the governor to talk about the importance of increased commitment and knowledge about children's and young people's health. During the morning, about 30 representatives from municipalities, the County Administrative Board, associations and the business community gathered to discuss challenges and opportunities. After lunch, Sävar was visited for a meeting with young project managers for the annual Sävarcampen, the purpose of which is to let children and young people try out many different activities and sports. Here, the governor and Klüft themselves got to try out the popular disc golf."

Most children and young people in Sweden today move too little and eat too poorly. Physical activity and healthy eating habits reduce the risk of, among other things, depression, type 2 diabetes, sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease. Generation Pep wants to create a popular movement for more physical activity, better eating habits and a more equal health for children and young people. The work is encouraged by Governor Per Bill, who protects issues concerning children, sports and health.

On Friday 11 September, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel visited Gävle and Sandviken together with Generation Pep. The Crown Princess couple got to meet representatives from the municipality and school in Gävleborg to talk about challenges and opportunities that are linked to children and young people's physical health.
In Gävle, Governor Per Bill hosted a roundtable discussion led by Carolina Klüft, operations manager at Generation Pep. Around 30 people who work with children and young people's health in the county participated in the conversation. Questions about challenges and opportunities linked to children and young people's physical health were discussed.
Visits to Rapatac and Fritidsbanken
In the afternoon, the Crown Princess couple, the governor and Carolina Klüft visited Rapatac and Fritidsbanken in Sandviken.
The visit to Rapatac began with the founders Moussa N'Diaye and Anna Podgorsek talking about the business. Rapatac's purpose is to give children and young people good conditions for a safe and meaningful upbringing. The children who participate in the activities are offered help with school work and the opportunity for stimulating leisure activities as well as developing the ability to take responsibility for their actions.
During the visit, the Crown Princess couple met children and young people who participate in Rapatac's activities.
The royal couple visited Rapatac in 2013.
To conclude in Sandviken, the Crown Princess couple visited Fritidsbanken where David Mathiasson and Ohans Basmajian told about the business.
Fritidsbanken is like a library with sports and leisure items. Here you can borrow equipment for active leisure, such as skis, skates, inline skates, life jackets, snowboards and much more. Everyone can borrow and everything is free. Fritidsbanken is located in several places in the country.
The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation has granted support to Fritidsbanken.

On Friday, Crown Princess Viktoria and Prince Daniel visited Gävle to discuss children's exercise and dietary habits with the county's various authorities.
Governor Per Bill thinks this is an important issue and welcomed the fine visit with open arms:
- The situation is acute in several ways, not least now during the corona pandemic when the whole of Sweden will need to change.
The project Generation Pep was started by the Crown Princess Couple in 2016 and is to promote children's health by encouraging a good diet and more exercise in everyday life. Carolina Klüft is the operations manager.
- The pandemic has made children and young people move even less in a very bad situation already, she says.

The Crown Princess couple and Generation Pep wanted to visit Sandviken to get more information about Rapatac's and Fritidsbanken's operations. We feel honored and happy to show two local activities that activate children and young people in our municipality, says Niklas Bergdahl, unit manager at the leisure unit, Sandvikens Municipality.

Generation Pep about the visit to Gävleborg on Friday 11th September
At the invitation of Governor Per Bill, Generation Pep visited the County Administrative Board of Gävleborg on Friday. During the day, the Crown Princess couple also participated. The focus of the day was to raise the issue of children and young people's physical health, and how the various actors in society can work together to promote health.
With the Public Health Agency's restrictions as a guide in the work with the planning, about 30 people from the region, municipalities, business and civil society gathered at Dospace in Gävle on Friday morning. In addition to listening to Generation Pep who told about their activities and their annual report The Pep report, which surveys the health of children and young people in Sweden on an annual basis, the participants also got to participate in roundtable discussions. During the talks, obstacles and challenges for the health of children and young people were discussed, but great focus was also on concrete proposals on the way forward.
The visit to Gävleborg is the second visit of five that Generation Pep will make around the country during the autumn of 2020.
- Despite the ongoing pandemic, we have felt that it is important that we get to come out into the country and visit all the activities that do so much to enable a healthier life for children and young people. We bring home an incredible amount of inspiration and are really happy about all the commitment we see, says Carolina Klüft, operations manager at Generation Pep.

When they are out on assignments, they often offer small glimpses of their relationship, even privately. As in Sandviken the other day.
Victoria and Daniel were there to meet the children in the music room at the all-activity house Rapatac - and suddenly the Crown Princess stood there with a ukulele…
You can say a lot about Victoria, but she's not a full-fledged ukulele player! But the Crown Princess hung on anyway, and jammed loose with her ukulele without being able to.
Next to him stood a very amused Prince Daniel. The whole situation was so wonderful and he just could not help but tease a little his wife:
- Haha, you look super comfortable! he said, grinning happily.
Because that's the way it is, their jargon - even privately: A little charmingly rough. But cordial!
And the reaction came immediately: The Crown Princess threw her head behind and started laughing.
But then she became serious again:
- What is wonderful is to see the children's commitment to this and how they choose to come here week after week and really think that this is the highlight of their afternoon. It feels great that there is a place like this for them to come to, Crown Princess Victoria told Radio Gävleborg.

ICA, Mat-Tina and Generation Pep in collaboration for better health among children and young people
Almost a fifth (17 percent) of children and young people's calorie intake in Sweden consists of sweets, soft drinks, biscuits and cakes and almost half of all children eat vegetables daily. ICA, together with Mat-Tina and Generation Pep, wants to change this and is now launching Melliskockarna, which aims to inspire children and young people to eat a more varied diet.
The Melliskockarna initiative is part of ICA's concept Buddy with the Body, which since 2001 has worked to increase curiosity and interest in fruit and vegetables among children in grades 2 and 5. The purpose of Melliskockarna is for children to learn what a good snack is, through to inspire and show how varied and fun snacks can be.
ICA Stiftelsen is a founding partner of Generation Pep.
The ICA Foundation has been formed to strengthen the community involvement that has always been an important part of ICA. But also to take ICA's community involvement to the next level. We want to continue to contribute to making a positive difference in society and create opportunities to support socially important projects.

Aggarpsskolan in Svedala named The Pep School of the Year 2020!
Yesterday, the winner was decided in the Pep School of the Year category, a category in the White Guide Junior competition that is awarded to a school for their work for an more active and healthier school day. This year's Pep School 2020 is Aggarpsskolan in Svedala!
On September 15, the 13 categories in the White Guide Junior were decided. 10 schools in Sweden were nominated for the Pep School of the Year category, for their active work with physical activity and good, nutritious meals. The winner in 2020 was Aggarpsskolan in Svedala.
All schools nominated for the award work with Generation Pep's free tools Generation Pep School. The tool, which has been developed together with researchers and schools, has been available for over two years to support schools' systematic health work. Over 1,500 schools have registered on the site.
- We know that school is an important arena that reaches all children, and that it therefore becomes extra important that schools work systematically with their health work. It feels great to be able to highlight schools that are good role models through White Guide Junior and hopefully it can be a carrot and inspire more people in their work, says Carolina Klüft, managing director for Generation Pep.

On Wednesday 16 September, Prince Daniel, together with Generation Pep, visited the British Junior School in Eskilstuna. British Junior received the Pep School of the Year 2019 award.
The prince was welcomed to British Junior by principal Åsa Ekholm and deputy principal Linda Lindgren who showed around the schoolyard where a number of outdoor activities took place.
British Junior uses a movement concept that aims for the students to move and ultimately feel good and have energy for school work. A number of lessons are conducted outdoors, for example. In the schoolyard, two outdoor teachers work to stimulate fun activities. Every Wednesday, Biking Wednesday is held where students have the opportunity to cycle mountain bike trails during the lunch break together with educators. During the visit, the Prince took the opportunity to cycle in the track with some of the school's students.

Prince Daniel was on site in Eskilstuna to visit this year's Pep school and impressed with his tricks.
Every year, Prince Daniel nominates the Pep School of the Year through his Generation Pep Foundation to encourage schools and school children across the country to move more. Last year the prize went to the British Junior school in Eskilstuna and on Wednesday he was there on a visit.
Prince Daniel is not the one who says no to a little activity in everyday life, so the delighted school children got to play field hockey, climb obstacle courses and cycle with the prince. On the bike, Daniel excelled a little extra. In front of the impressed students, he showed his skills in climbing and cycling on a wheel, something that was very much appreciated.

Prince Daniel wants more young people to move - and then he can lead by example.
When the prince visited the British Junior school in Eskilstuna, he jumped on the bike and styled in front of the school children.
Health in school children and young people is one of Prince Daniel's big heart issues, and the former gym owner is the founder of the Generation Pep foundation, which wants to promote the joy of movement in children.
On Wednesday, the prince visited the British Junior school in Eskilstuna, which last year was named Pep school of the year.
He then took the opportunity to move properly with the school children on site, and took part in both football, bandy and a lesson in nature. In addition, Prince Daniel switched on the bicycle help and tricked himself on a bicycle in front of the cameras. More joy of movement for the people!

Very good video and Daniel's interview at SVT News
Prince Daniel visited Eskilstuna - highlighted the school's business venture
Daniel says:
- I'm here to look at this school which is a good example of how to work with physical activity. Children and young people should preferably move at least one hour every day. Here at the school, you have received, during the school day, 60 minutes. It is really incredibly strong and good, because then you can, no matter how you have it at home, get the opportunity for this elementary physical activity that everyone needs every day. I have always been passionate about sports and physical activity because it is so important. It is a big problem that we become more passive and sedentary.
How can this negative trend be reversed?
- This is a very big and difficult issue. Many forces work in the opposite direction. We have screens, we have so many exciting TV programs ... It's all about us sitting in front of our screens or TV. We need to work well in advance. We need to set good habits early in life. This is where the school comes in as a very important player. Among the most important and best things you can do is get it into school early. And as a parent, you have a huge responsibility, said Daniel.
Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria are the initiators of Generation Pep. British Junior has been named the 2019 Pep school. On Wednesday, the school was visited by Prince Daniel.
- It feels like there is a lot of energy and enthusiasm here, says the prince.
Generation Pep's vision is that all children and young people should have an opportunity to live an active and healthy life. British Junior has worked with health issues for a long time and has been involved as a Pep school since the start in 2017.
- That the prince came here means a lot. Health issues are important for everyone and it is important to dare to make changes yourself, says the school's principal Åsa Ekholm.

He is known as a royal style icon and we rarely see him without his double-breasted jacket. Prince Daniel simply holds on tight to his suit, and maybe it's a bit of a security thing: In it, he feels well-dressed, and probably also comfortable. And he wears it like a king.
But there are limits to Prince Daniel as well. And that includes: Riding a mountain bike in the woods, wearing a power suit.
Yet this is exactly what he did. Prince Daniel was at the British Junior School in Eskilstuna with his organization Generation Pep to hear more about the school's award-winning method to get the kids moving more. Everything was peace and joy and Prince Daniel happily showed off on the bike, wearing his suit.
But when he finished a moment later, there were other tones:
- Slightly hot! I realized that I have dressed completely wrong today. I'll never ride in a suit again!

Daniel took today part in the digital launch of the Stairs Day (Trappans Dag) arranged by 100 Trappsteg in collaboration with Suicide Zero, Karolinska Institutet, The Heart-Lung Foundation and Generation Pep. Daniel's interview was shown at the two-hour long launch and Generation Pep's managing director Carolina Klüft was one of the lecturers.
Daniel's interview starts at 57.00 and Carolina Klüft's lecture is after that.

At the video:
The host: We Sweden are fortunate to have a crown princess couple who are very strongly involved in public health issues. And Mattias and I had the pleasure of meeting Prince Daniel a few days ago.
It looked resilient, Prince Daniel!
- Then I have to thank for it coming from you.
Does the prince have time to train anything himself?
- I think so, I think you have to prioritize, and then maybe you always have time to train a whole hour but it can be shorter sessions, short intensive sessions, and try to take the moment when it comes. But then I have some booked sessions a couple of times a week, so I know I get my training.
We encourage everyone to walk at least 100 stairs every day. Does the prince usually go up stairs?
- I try to do it and if you work here (shows the Royal Palace), you have your office here, so there will be some stairs, but there can definitely be a lot more. I believe very much in everyday exercise, and spontaneous exercise. I have a tendency to sit a little too much and drive a little too much, so I have a little to work on.
What does training mean for the prince?
- It means a lot. I come from such a background, I have worked with exercise and tried to get other people to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle. It is something I have always missionized for others to move more and also myself. I am very sedentary work and I try to get as much exercise and training as possible. In some periods it gets smaller, but you can try to get short passes, for example when traveling abroad with a tight program, at least do something for ten minutes. I try to think that everything is better than nothing. That's my philosophy, I'm trying to bring something in anyway.
Sedentary and reduced physical activity is otherwise a growing problem, not least with children and young people. How does the Crown Princess couple think about health and exercise with your own children?
- In general, we work a lot with it. We have our organization, Generation Pep, where we try to highlight the importance of children's exercise and physical activity. And we do the same with our own children, of course. They also want to sit and watch screens and like to occupy themselves in that way. But going out, being outdoors, I think is a key, you have time and opportunity to go out with the children, then there is often physical activity and spontaneous play and movement. Then of course, when you go to preschool like our son does, they are out all the time now and running around, so then it is probaly more about recovering. In general, it is a big problem, children and young people should move for at least an hour every day, and that is something we should really strive for in society.
Does the prince have an idea how we can reach everyone about the importance of everyday exercise?
- It is really the big nut to crack, to reach those who are not already saved, the risk is that we who are already passionate about this become more and more interested and exercise more and eat better so that this health gap increases, it can become a stigma. But I think I try to lay the good foundations early in life and you can get it in preschool and school, so there I think there is an incredible opportunity that you can succeed in getting in physical activity. Otherwise it is very unequal.
We should thank the Crown Princess couple for everything to do with public health!
- Thank you, the same to you. What a good initiative this is and good luck, really.

The second Pep Park has now been opened in Arenastaden in Solna, in front of the Friends Arena. Daniel inaugurated the first Pep Park on 1st September 2019.

New Pep Park adds color to Arenastaden
Arenastaden has received a playful and colorful addition in the form of a new Pep Park. At Arenatorget, a stone's throw from both Friends Arena and Westfield Mall of Scandinavia, Fabege, together with Generation Pep and Solna Stad, has built the new park, which will inspire children and young people to move more.
Pep Parks in Solna is a collaboration between Fabege, the city of Solna and Generation Pep - an organization initiated by the Crown Princess couple. The purpose of the concept is to promote the health of children and young people and to increase the conditions for play, movement and everyday exercise together. The parks must contain elements adapted for all different ages, be accessible to all and stimulate both spontaneous and planned activity. The Pep park in Arenastaden is the second of the three activity parks to be built in Solna, and will be a welcome feature between the magnificent house facades around Arenatorget.
- With a Pep Park in Arenastaden, more children, young people and adults in Solna get even better opportunities for play and everyday exercise together, all year round, says Pehr Granfalk, chairman of the municipal board, city of Solna.

Court website
On Wednesday, October 7, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel met the participants in the Expert and Youth Council of the Crown Princess Couple's Foundation.
The Crown Princess Couple's Foundation supports organizations that work to promote good health and counteract exclusion among children and young people.
To ensure that the projects that the foundation supports effectively improve health and community, the foundation has an Expert council. The participants act as advisors, assess and prioritize between the applications.
This year, the foundation has engaged four ninth-graders from Hjulsta school outside Stockholm to a Youth council. The students have discussed and assessed the applications that have been received by the foundation and during the meeting with the Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and the Expert council gave their views on the advantages and disadvantages of the applications.
The experts and the Youth council work voluntarily to support the foundation.

Pep Forum on 12th November
This year's digital Pep Forum offers inspiring examples and tools from various actors and arenas with the common goal of promoting equal health for children and young people. Health today is not equal and the conditions look different depending on where you were born and where you live. Instead of the health gaps decreasing, we see that the trends are pointing in the wrong direction and the gaps are increasing.
During the program, you will, among other things, take part in concrete national and international methods for strengthening the health of children and young people. The international best-selling author and physician Rangan Chatterjee shares his thoughts on society's view of obesity and how we lower the thresholds for a more active life. Of course, Carolina Klüft, Generation Pep's managing director talks about our new work to create increased commitment and collaboration around children and young people's health.
In addition to this, you can take part in the latest research from Elin Ekblom Bak, hear more about two of the biggest warning signs of unequal health among children in today's Sweden, as well as interesting panel discussions and interviews.
The goal of the day is for all actors to feel a commitment and a will to together create change for a more equal health.
Pep Forum 2020 will be moderated by Jessica Almenäs and Dona Hariri.
TRH Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel take part in Pep Forum.

Pep Forum does not take a break. This year, we invite you all to a digital variant filled with interesting speakers and concrete examples of how we can create change for children and young people's health. Of course, it is completely free to participate.

This week is the autumn holiday and many children and their families are free.
