The school management of Campus Manilla chose to close the school last week while waiting for more information. For two days, the children were kept at home while the principal and teachers were in various crisis meetings.
- There has been concern among students, parents and staff. We are now in contact with the authorities to be notified while we are preparing for remote education if needed, Chairman of the Board of Campus Manilla, Johan Nordenfalk told SVT News.
There have been rumors that the school might be closed down again. But that has not happened. This week, Princess Estelle has gone to school as usual, says Margareta Thorgren from the court.
A joyful message - in the midst of all the chaos. Estelle loves going to school and wants of course that everyday life, with all her friends, should continue as usual. However, if the government decides to close down schools and preschools, the court will of course follow their guidelines. But so far, nothing has changed for Princess Estelle.

The royal couple and Victoria and Daniel cancel several missions due to the corona virus, COVID-19. Many are now wondering how Estelle and Oscar's everyday life is affected by the troubled situation.
In Sweden, schools are still open, with the exception of some that offer students remote education. But for Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, everyday life is as usual. The court's information officer Johan Tegel told to Svensk Damtidning yesterday that Victoria's and Daniel's children attend school as usual this week.

Estelle's school Campus Manilla will have a new principal, Robert Mellander, on 20th April, the school tells at a press release.
- Campus Manilla will be one of Sweden's absolute best schools and we will continuously continue to challenge and develop ourselves to secure that position, says Robert in the press release.
Robert Mellander is an experienced and established profile in the school world. Most recently, he was principal at Kungsholmen's gymnasium in Stockholm - previously he has worked as a principal at Östra Reals gymnasium and also at Kunskapsskolan. His undergraduate education is as Master of Science in Business and Economics at the Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.

Almost everyone who has seen pictures of Estelle has made the same observation: she is a copy of her mother! The princess, who has turned eight years old, is only becoming more and more like the Crown Princess for each passing day.
Johanna Lejon, fashion expert and writer at Svensk Damtidning, has also noted the similarity. She has been following Estelle since birth - and now she is amazed.
- It's really amazing how similar Victoria and Estelle are. And if you look at photos, it actually becomes more and more the same every day! When Estelle was little she reminded more of Prince Daniel but now, as she gets older, it is clear that she is the spitting image of her mother!
- Looking at photos when Victoria is seven, eight, nine years, it's almost like seeing Estelle. They have the same hair color, the same eye color and the same smile. In addition, they have a kind of playfulness in their faces . It might be called charisma? I almost think so. Their radiance and appearance are also incredibly similar, between them. "She's the spitting image of her mother" is certainly an expression that can be used when it comes to Princess Estelle - and rightly so, Johanna says.

Author Michael Wiander had sent a book to Estelle on her birthday.
"So nice with a letter from the castle! H R H Crown Princess Victoria thanks for the book that was sent to the castle in connection with Princess Estelle's birthday!"

It was a children's cookbook which Estelle got.

Interesting they used the monogram of the kungliga hovstaterna (the royal household organization) rather than the monogram of Princess Estelle of Princess Victoria. But I think this is pure: it is Helena Garofalo whom did sent this letter to Michael Wiander and not the Crown Princess or her daughter.

Also interesting that Michael Wiander was not adressed as "Mr" but as "Författare" (author). So the letter was addressed to: Author Michael Wiander.

Svensk Damtidning's article about the children who the magazine thinks play with Estelle.
Many of them are children of Victoria's old friends.
Chloé, 11 and Leonie Nilsson, 10, children of Caroline Kreuger Nilsson. Greger Dinkelspiel, son of Caroline Dinkelspiel, who is only a couple of months younger than Estelle. They have always played well together and Greger is said to be a reason why Estelle changed from Äventyret preschool to Lilla Kvikkjokk, where Greger was. Andrea Brodin's daughter Diana Engsäll, 12. Karl-Johan and Leonie Persson's children Philippa, 12, and Fred, 6. Livia Vrbanc Vidjeskog, 10, daughter of Daniel's friend Patric Vrbanc, we saw Victoria and Livia together at the Football World Cup. Victoria and Daniel are also friends with Peter "Foppa" Forsberg and Nicole Nordin, their son Lennox is a little younger than Estelle. When Daniel and Foppa are at Victoriagolfen, Estelle shows her favourite places in Solliden to Lennox. And there are also some royal children, Estelle has played with Frederik and Mary's twins Vincent and Josephine and been on a holiday with Haakon and Mette-Marit's Ingrid Alexandra. And in Sweden is Désirée Magnuson, daughter of Gustaf Magnuson and Vicky Andrén Magnuson. And all the children at Estelle's class at Campus Manilla. If Estelle is as kind and caring to her friends as she is to little brother Oscar, then there is no doubt that the little princess friends are very lucky.

Svensk Damtidning has an article about Estelle's school Campus Manilla at its latest issue.

An ordinary day starts with the kids being picked up by the private school bus that leaves from Odenplan in Stockholm and which then picks up more students in Vasastan and Östermalm. Here, the children can sit and talk to their friends in peace and quiet while the double-decker rushes across the Djurgården bridge and past Skansen and Gröna Lund before the bus finally arrives at the stately building at Djurgården, and a new school day can begin.
Each week begins with a morning gathering. The headmaster greets the children and sometimes they listen to music from the composer of the month and the children perform for each other. Some are awarded this week's award and may go up on stage and receive diplomas and applause from the other students - the awards can be, for example, having made progress in a particular subject or that you have been an extra good friend to the other students.
When it is time for lunch, the children are served food that is cooked at the school. Campus Manilla has its own chefs, which means that the students get nutritious meals every day, which is said to be especially appreciated by the parents. There is also access to a vegetarian meals and in grade F-3, where Princess Estelle belongs, the students have quiet lunch.
For Estelle, who has finished first grade, a school day has consisted of lessons in, among others, Swedish, mathematics, sports and even dance, which is compulsory until grade 3. Because the school area is so large and close to nature and forest there are also many and good opportunities for activities and sports, which probably fits the active princess perfectly.
After a demanding school day the students can, for example, take part in recreational and fun afternoon activities such as choir, athletics, football, baking, homework club, English, yoga, floorball and basketball, before it is time to return home.
Just like Mother Victoria, who has received a tailor-made academic education that has prepared her for her job as a future queen, Estelle will also receive a first-class education. The teachers place high demands on the students and Campus Manilla, with its strong international focus, can certainly prepare the princess well for upcoming studies.
Many students at the school, for example, read English as their home language, and the school is inspired by, among other things, Singapore and has established a Singapore math in primary school. The concept means that one starts with reading comprehension, logical thinking and problem solving in teaching. The school also has partnerships with two UK schools, where upper school students can apply for shorter exchanges.
International lecturers also regularly attend the school. Recently, for example, the 2017 Nobel laureate in economics lectured for the Ninth grade, and last spring, Hungarian-American multi-billionaire Charles Simonyi visited the school and shared his experiences as one of the world's first space tourists. Abba's Benny Andersson has also been there at an inauguration and played accordion. The school is also investing heavily in its teaching staff and dance education has been held, among others, by court dancer Anneli Alhanko, and dance group Bounce has also given dance lessons at the school.
In such an environment, Princess Estelle definitely has good conditions to succeed with her studies and prepare for her future as queen, and at the same time to make friends for a lifetime, one can hope.

Princess Estelle has just left first class, after a tumultuous spring: Among other things, her school Campus Manilla had to close the week after the sports holiday due to a corona infected student. Although it was only temporary and Estelle was soon back in the school bench again.
Now there has been a school closure with "Den blomstertid nu kommer" been sang and all that belongs, and eight-year-old Estelle can look forward to her first real summer vacation.
Much is as usual, the summe palace Solliden awaits with the sun and sea. And party! Mom Victoria and dad Daniel are celebrating that they have been married for ten years on Midsummer Eve.
But much at Solliden will also be completely different. Like not getting to hug Grandma Silvia for example. Or to have to keep, always keep two meters from the grandfather the king. And the same sad rules apply to Grandma Ewa and Grandfather Olle when they visit.
In addition, it will be more empty than usual at Solliden this year - Leonore, and her siblings Nicolas and Adrienne are currently unable to leave the United States due to US travel restrictions.
Princess Estelle is also one of the royal couple's seven grandchildren who has the most control over this with the corona and why it is as it is, the queen Silvia told in an interview with Aftonbladet :
- She is eight years old and sees what happens with a little more seriousness than the other grandchildren. The others content themselves with shouting "Grandma!"

Vikan's children

These children are so happy and adorable and beautiful. I'm sure they spend a lot of time with their parents. What great parenting.
:D

This is what it looked like when Princess Estelle started preschool in 2014. Little has grown up and now Estelle is starting grade two at Campus Manilla.

I believe it is usual in Swedish to address people by their profesional title.

I believe it is usual in Swedish to address people by their profesional title.
In writing maybe but not in real life. I have an appointment with my dentist in a few minutes and I'll adress him by his first name instead of by his professional title or by his noble title (he belongs to a very old family).

Estelle has obviously enjoyed some music this week, the principal of Campus Manilla tells at his Instagram
"Visit by flutists from Kungliga Hovkapellet (Royal Swedish Orchestra). Beautiful music mixed with conversations about music, instruments and composers for the children in grades 1-3. We look forward to continued collaboration throughout the school year within the framework of Creative School."

A tattooed little prince! But Victoria and Daniel are wise and let Oscar be one of the gang. What does it say about their parenting?
Grandfather is the king and mother will be queen. And he himself is the Prince of Sweden. But otherwise, Oscar is a fairly ordinary little four-year-old who wants to be just like his friends. And right now it seems to be temporary tattoos that apply among the kids on Prince Oscar's forehead.
And Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, they have thumbs up.
- It's fun to see that Victoria and Daniel are just like most other parents. If the son wants a pretend tattoo, it is clear he will get it! says Svensk Damtidning's Johanna Lejon.
- That they let Oscar have a little temporary tattoo on his arm shows that they are very relaxed and not perfectionists. All parents who have had children who have tried this know that these sticks stay "nice" for a day and then mostly look like dirt - for weeks! But it is refreshing to see that even royal little ones get to pretend to be tattooed.

Prince Oscar is at a preschool, we know that - but now he has also started in "Prince school".
It is lifelong, and it starts early: "The school" that will teach Prince Oscar, 4, and Princess Estelle, 8, about the life that awaits when they grow up.
Crown Princess Victoria's line has been to get the children used to in time, but until now, Oscar has mostly been seen on the King's birthday, National Day, and Victoria's birthday. With Princess Estelle, the pace has been higher, she was only two and a half when she went to Linköping for her first official assignment. Since then, Estelle has hung out with her mother on a number of occasions: To look at the National Museum, at the national regalia in the Treasury, and at the mighty organ in the Stockholm Cathedral.
But now it seems to be time for Prince Oscar to step out on the track as well. Last week he walked around with his mother and Estelle and looked at the carpets shown in the Märta Måås-Fjetterström exhibition.
And no, it was not the first time we saw him in such contexts, it has happened from time to time, as when the Crown Princess family checked out royal treasures in the Cathedral, looked at the manger in Katarina Church on Södermalm and visited the Norrmalm police.
Victoria and Daniel decide every time whether he should come along or not. But at the age of four, maybe there will be more events?
One thing is clear: Prince Oscar is third in line to the throne and will have an active role in the royal representation in the long run.
Victorias beslut för Oscars framtid – bilden avslöjar _ Svensk Dam

Svensk Damtidning:
Prince Oscar is probably the only four-year-old in Sweden who cannot choose his profession. Lucky he has such a wise mother!
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have a rather special starting point as parents. Their children live a life with both a royal golden edge - and with harsh restrictions. None of them can really choose a profession seriously. Princess Estelle will be Sweden's future regent. And Prince Oscar can look forward to a princely life with many official assignments for the Royal Family.
But if he dreams of becoming a mini-Zlatan? A future football professional? Just watch him dribble around with the ball here!
And the dream comes true, because Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are wise and now Prince Oscar has started training with a bunch of other boys born in 2016, in organized ways. However, it is not known in which club. But dad is an avid AIK fan: and the family lives in Solna, so AIK seems to be an easy choice.
Victoria och Daniel – privata beslutet för prins Oscar _Svensk Dam

Not surprised he is in sports considering dad.

If he actually had athletic talent I don’t think there would be an issue with him pursuing sports. There are a number of royals including heirs to thrones who have competed in the olympics. Being an athlete might be one of the careers open to a prince if he has the skills.

But for now he is an adorable four year old having fun with other kids his age. And could be dreaming of being a firefighter or dragon tamer. Or any range of traditional, odd and bizarrely creative things kids come up with.

At least Daniel and Victoria can, by virtue of Daniel's life before Victoria, show their children the way ordinary Swedish people live their ordinary Swedish lives. That is a priceless gift and a tribute to their countrymen that they leave Daniel's family alone and so V&D are able to to spend holidays and just fun days with their grandparents and Aunt and Uncle. No palaces or royalty at their dinner table, just family.

Other royals are far more limited in what they can do to immerse their children in ordinary life. A Happy Meal at McDonalds, a trip to Legoland or an adventure park is a scripted event where PPO's have arranged security. Even more so with the international rise of right wing terrorists.

Svensk Damtidning writes about Estelle and her pony Viktor, which Estelle has had for four years now. Court equerry Ulf Gunnehed has told that Estelle really loves her horse and helps to take care of it at the Royal Stables.
Viktor is only 120 centimeters tall and now 22 years old. It's starting to be time for a new bigger pony for Estelle.
Svensk Damtidning writes that maybe Estelle can borrow Leonore's pony, the Gotland Russian Heidi, a baptismal gift from the county administrative board Gotland. Heidi is now six years old and is thus fully grown. It is a slightly bigger challenge to take on such a young pony when you are only eight years old, but Estelle has expert help at the Royal Stables so there are probably no problems at all. And they can always keep Viktor for Oscar.

It is disappointing that the Duchess of Gotland lives in Florida and her baptismal gift poney from the province will now be borrowed by her cousin.

It is just a suggestion from Svensk Damtidning that Estelle could borrow Leonore's pony. Maybe we will hear later if Estelle has got a new pony/horse. And, Madeleine's children have been riding with Estelle's pony Viktor.

Svensk Damtidning writes about Estelle and her bags:
At Te Deum after Oscar's birth, a pink cloth bag with green lining. Victoria had got the bag as a gift when she was in Tanzania two years earlier.
At Oscar's christening a white and pink bag
At Désirée Magnuson's christening, a design bag from Crown Princess Marie-Chantal's children's clothing brand, model "Girls Tote Bag Medium".
At the preschool premiere a burgundy Mini-Kånken from Fjällräven
At the first school day a backpack, light blue and embellished with two eyes and a happy mouth.
At the inauguration of Slussbron, shoulder strap bag embellished with a horse, Estelle's favourite bag right now which we have seen before.

^^^^ I don't know about any of you but I find myself wondering how I missed Estelle blooming into a little 'fashionista' with a "mini me" tendency. It wont be long before we'll be checking out her very own fashion page.

We tend to look at the children in abstract, usually relating to an occasion and attributing the style to their mothers, Nannies, etc. But little Miss Estelle is evolving a very distinct style all her own.

Unlike those young royals with sisters close in age where the tendency is to dress them close in either strikingly similar or even worse, identical clothes like twins, but not. Being one of 4 girls we were often dressed identically, but that was the way when boomers were young.

Estelle seems to be setting her own style and I love her hairstyles that are coming adrift because it is obvious Victoria has stopped the perfect plaits and no hairspray so it allows her to learn what works and what doesn't, both in hair and dress.
