So sweet reading about Oscar and Grandma Ewa :flowers:

I am sure it is likely the same with any royal kids with commoner grandparents. A visit to their 'regular' grandparents is likely a bit more fun and relaxed.

Queen Silvia has said about Estelle:
- Estelle is so lively, interested, happy and curious. She is just like her mother when she was little, Silvia has told.
In addition, the Queen has revealed how the little princess is in royal contexts.
- She does things that you see she really understood, and sometimes she's a step ahead, Grandmother the Queen told at The Year with the Royal Family.
That Estelle is the world's best big sister is what many have figured out by this time. She is Prince Oscar's great idol and always lets her little brother join in and play. The Queen confirms this.
- She is protective and very sweet to him. It feels safe when you see the two of them together.

Horses seem to be the theme of Christmas photos this week. First the Danish kids and now Estelle and Oscar. Well in their case, Estelle's pony Victor.

The kids are positively adorable in the photos. And Victor isn't too bad either. :flowers:

Must say Victor's santa hat is my fashion win for the week

Such a lovely photo and love that Estelle and Oscar are on their horses here!

Always nice to see the Saint Lucy's Day traditions being carried on by the Prince and Princess.

:previous: A lovely gesture from Victoria and Daniel and cute to see that Oscar got a ride in the police car! ?

One day, Princess Estelle will take over the baton as queen of Sweden. An honorable mission that requires preparation. This year the Queen's School has started properly!
Although it feels as the news that Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel had a daughter came recently, Princess Estelle is now beginning to be schooled in the so-called "Queen's School". In February, Estelle turns 8 and since her future is already set out as first Crown Princess and then Queen, it is better to start sooner rather than later.
Princess Estelle made her first assignment as a two-year-old when she visited her own Duchy of Östergötland in 2014. There she opened the path Estelles Sagostig, which was named after her in connection with the baptism. Already then, only two years old, Estelle took care of the people she met!
How is a queen's school going? Crown Princess Victoria has as a plan that Estelle will first learn about the royal family and its history, then move on and get to know and understand Sweden's history.
This year, Princess Estelle has visited the Royal Treasury, the Bernadotte Library and the Royal Collections to get an insight into the history of the monarchy. First out was the Royal Treasury, a pretty exciting study visit for a 7-year-old. Estelle got to see her own queen's crown from 1854 and looked at the baptismal font used at her own baptism.
A month later, it was time to visit the Royal Collections. Prince Oscar also accompanied Victoria and Estelle to look at the royal Palace's furniture, ornaments, carpets, curtains and wallpapers.
And the Crown Princess and the King took Estelle to the Bernadotte Library. The library is located in the Royal Palace and holds over a hundred thousand books belonging to the family of Bernadotte's kings and queens. Extra cozy visit because Grandpa was there!
Princess Estelle always has a smile on her lips and stands safely next to her mother when she participates in official contexts. Victoria will teach Estelle everything she can!

Ouch! hope Princess Estelle has a speedy recovery .

Oh no! I hope little Estelle gets well soon and that her injury isn't too serious.

The best for Princess Estelle. She is new and will recover quickly.

Poor baby princess! But as everyone has pointed out, she is very young and will heal quickly.

I was very impressed to read in the Court bulletin that she has been skiing since she was about three!?
Yes, she did. Two pictures of Estelle on skis were released on her 3rd birthday (so probably taken when she was still 2 years old).

Estelle was on skis already a long before her second birthday, these photos were taken on 30th December 2013 and 1st January 2014.

The Crown Princess family with mom Victoria, dad Daniel, Oscar and Estelle were on a skiing holiday in the Italian Alps when the little princess broke her leg, reported by Aftonbladet.
During the trip they celebrated the New Year and went skiing together. The other day, Estelle accidentally fell on the slopes.
- The information I have is that Princess Estelle suffered a fracture of the limb in connection with skiing, says Johan Tegel, information officer at the court.
Has she fallen?
- I don't know how it went. She is plastered and otherwise well.
The Crown Princess couple has gone skiing to the Alps several times before. In March 2018, the Crown Princess was seen carrying a Fjällräven rucksack during the family's sports holiday trip in the Swiss Alps.
According to reports from the resort, Prince Daniel was skiing a lot on the slopes while the Crown Princess devoted herself to playing in the snow and building a snow castle with the children.
The place they visited was described as exclusive and expensive, but also beautiful and car-free.
At home, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel enjoy traveling to Åre where they have also been seen on the slopes several times over the years.
Prince Daniel goes to Ari Behn's funeral
Prince Daniel will be attending the funeral of Ari Behn's funeral on Friday while the Crown Princess stays at home. The court does not confirm that Estelle's skiing accident is the reason Victoria is absent from the funeral.
- What is planned is that Prince Daniel will attend the funeral service, says Johan Tegel.

At Aftonbladet's original article is was also pointed out that the family didn't have to break off their holiday because of Estelle's accident.

The crown princess family had of course planned their holiday so that they would be in Sweden on 7th January when Olle Westling celebrates his 75th birthday, and Estelle's school begins again on 8th January.

A chance that at that age you heal very quickly !

As much as its not something one would ever wish on a child to have such an accident, there is a bright side to it. I am assuming that Estelle's leg being in plaster means what we call here, a cast. No child's cast is ever complete until friends and family have a chance to make it truly a work of art with names, flowers and well wishes all over it. Here's hoping Estelle has a speedy and comfortable recovery along with a bright and beautiful work of art. :D

Ouch. Not great beginning for this year (assuming that happened during last couple days). Fortunately she will recover quickly.

Poor little darling a fractured leg is just as painful hoping she heals quickly. I agree with you Osipi a cast should have lots of artwork scribbled on it from friends and family.

Yesterday a couple of photos of Oscar at the family's visit to Norrviken Gardens on 17th June was posted to Instagram:
"2019 was a good photo year. What stands out and was definitely the most fun to photograph was when Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel together with Prince Oscar visited my workplace Norrviken. The one who charmed the most was of course Prince Oscar. He patiently joined in throughout the visit but towards the end he got runner up and just had to run away. Prince Oscar runs away in the Japanese garden on his visit to Norrviken last summer.

Oscar is super cute indeed! It seems that he enjoys the outdoors, which is nice to see.

Margareta Thorgren has written to Hänt that Estelle goes to school normally after the Christmas holiday.

Svensk Damtidning called Margareta Thorgren to ask how Estelle is now after her accident.

We call the court to hear how the princess is doing now, a few days later. Margareta Thorgren says that the princess is doing well, according to the circumstances, and that she plans to go to school as usual. First graders at Campus Manilla begin their semester on Thursday, January 9, and then Estelle will join her classmates - just as usual.
Will the princess need extra help?
- The princess goes with crutches and then it is clear that you need some extra help.
Has Prince Oscar painted anything on his big sister's plaster cast?
- I don't know. It remains to be seen.

Margareta Thorgren today to Expressen:

The schools started again after the Christmas holidays, and Princess Estelle was back with her classmates at the Campus Manilla school at Djurgården in Stockholm.
The court reports that Estelle has not been able to take off the cast yet, but that she is in high spirits.
- School has started, and Princess Estelle is back in school. She will have her cast for a while. The princess is happy and in high spirits, says Margareta Thorgren.

Margareta Thorgren said to Svensk Damtidning that Estelle is in a good mood.
- She feels good and handles the cast fine. Children are often able to adapt to new situations. Princess Estelle does so in the best way, she says.
Estelle has also, like the rest of the country's schoolchildren, begun the spring term. First graders on Campus Manilla began their semester on Thursday, January 9, and then Estelle was there. She is currently on crutches, but according to Thorgren, this doesn't disturb her.

Estelle got a cast to her leg after her accident and now the court announces approximately how long the princess will be dependent on crutches.
- Princess Estelle is feeling well under the circumstances. It was said that she would have a cast for four weeks after it was put there. I have not got any information that this would have changed, says Margareta Thorgren.

Articles of Estelle
Estelle has quickly become a beloved member of the royal family. Everyone who knows her has only good things to say about the little princess
Estelle's 8th birthday is approaching soon. And she has had a lot in her short life.
She spends her days at Campus Manilla - one of the country's most exclusive free schools. The court has stated that Estelle has proved to be a social and knowledgeable student. She is comfortable both with her homework and with her classmates.
As a future queen, Estelle has been able to excel in knowledge even outside school hours. Victoria takes care that her daughter learns about Swedish history and the royal house's traditions.

Press release from the court
Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation organises a sculpture exhibition at Royal Djurgården.
A new royal foundation has been formed, Prinsessan Estelles kulturstiftelse (Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation). The purpose of the foundation is to promote cultural activities in Sweden.
With this initiative the crown princess couple wants to emphasize the importance of art and culture to an open and modern society. The Foundation is also based on a strong royal tradition to promote cultural life in Sweden. The crown princess couple wants to actualize this and show long-term ambitions through the founding of Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.
The Foundation's activities are financed through private donations.

So, Daniel is a member of the board of the foundation and it continues the privately organised exhibitions of Tony Cragg, Eva Hild and Jaume Plensa held in 2016-2018 at Royal Djurgården.

This Foundation was founded already in August 2019, when Sara Sandström Nilsson, the executive director of The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation, was hired. She was 21 years the owner and director of Galleri Andersson/Sandström, which organised the three art exhibitions initiated by prince Daniel at Royal Djurgården in 2016-2018. She ended her work at the gallery in August 2019, and has been the executive director of Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation since then.

- It is a whole new foundation to which the Crown Princess couple has taken the initiative, says Sara Sandström Nilsson, who is the foundation's executive director.
She continues:
- The idea for the sculpture project at the Royal Djurgården was born when the Crown Princess couple was the patron of Umeå, the European Capital of Culture in 2014. They then visited Umedalen's Sculpture Park which aroused an interest in creating something similar in Stockholm.
The years, 2016-18, were followed by sculpture exhibitions at the Royal Djurgården. Exhibitions that Prince Daniel inaugurated and that the Crown Princess couple wanted to continue with, but in a new form. And the new form became a foundation.
If the parents have informed Princess Estelle about the new foundation, which bears her name, Sara Sandström Nilsson doesn't want to go in. She refers instead to the court. However, she explains that there are long-term ambitions behind the initiative. This is one of the reasons why the foundation is named after Princess Estelle.
The board members consist of Staffan Larsson, Elin Anwall, Sara Sandström Nilsson, Lena Josefsson, Johan Ericsson and Prince Daniel. Victoria is an initiator with not being on the board. Perhaps this is because Daniel is the one who has opened the previous exhibitions and also because the couple already has so many engagements that they have to distribute the engagements, says Sara Sandström Nilsson.

The Swedish court has formed a new foundation - Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation. The foundation's first exhibition will be a temporary sculpture park.
In the summer of 2020, a sculpture exhibition is planned to be shown at Djurgården in Stockholm. Organizer is Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.
Princess Estelle is Crown Princess Victoria's and Prince Daniel's firstborn. Prince Daniel is a board member of the foundation.
- The hope is that the art experiences will lead to many unexpected conversations and generally increased curiosity for culture, says Sara Sandström Nilsson, the foundation's executive director.
According to Sara Sandström Nilsson, Djurgården is an ideal place because it is open and easy to visit. No entrance fees will be charged.
