Crown Princess Victoria's Birthday (Victoriadagen) - July 14: 2018-2024

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Benjamin Ingrosso was one of the singers at Victoria's birthday concert. Benjamin's mother Pernilla Wahlgren told at her podcast:
SVT sent the "Victoriakonserten" and it was obvious that the whole royal family was impressed by the talented singer and entertainer.
In the latest of Pernilla Wahlgren and Sofia Wistam's popular podcast "Wahlgren and Wistam" revealed what happened behind the scenes after the appreciated concert.
Pernilla Wahlgren told about how proud she is of her son who performed to the royals. Sofia Wistam then notes:
- Estelle sat and sang with and could the text, says Sofia Wistam.
For television viewers it was quite obvious that the young princess is very fond of Benjamin Ingrosso. Suddenly Pernilla reveals that her son got some warm words from Prince Daniel after the lights went out and the broadcast was over.
Benjamin and the prince stood close to each other afterwards and talked low-key but intensely about their impressions after the successful concert. Pernilla now reveals what was said between the young man and the prince:
- Prince Daniel came to Benjamin afterwards and told: "We listen to you at home all the time and Estelle can the songs", praised Daniel Benjamin, who assimilated the fine words.
Benjamin became so excited by the prince's compliments that he had to tell his mother about it.
And it's not just Princess Estelle and the rest of the royal family who were touched by Benjamin's talent, intense charisma and stage presence.
- It was a good performance and Benjamin sang a great ballad that made you cry, says Pernilla Wahlgren in the podcast.

Svensk Damtidning's articles about Victoria's birthday in last week's issue.
The editor-in-chief Johan T. Lindwall writes that Victoria's birthday highlights the whole island on a warm summer week and people call it Öland's National Day. Lindwall writes that of course it is a little strange that Victoria celebrates her birthday officially every year and not have this day as private for herself. But the crown princess loves this and knows what it means to everyone who likes monarchy and the royal family. It is clearly a bingo to the royal house and the monarchy as a form of government that there is the celebration of Victoriadagen and the crown princess. To be on Öland and experience these days is exceedingly special and if you ask from Lindwall, he says: Don't never stop it!

Victoria said to Svensk Damtidning's reporter that in the morning she had the joy of hearing her little family singing to her. They celebrate very commonly with a cake brought to the bed, they celebrate like most people. And it become just like she had wished! Victoria said also that it is great that her children can meet their cousins in Solliden during the summer. Victoria was asked what she wishes for the year to come and she said: A lot of time with my family.
And one and a half hour after Victoria had thanked her last well-wishers in Solliden, she and the whole royal family were at the birthday concert at Borgholm Sports Arena.

Press release from the organizers of Victoria's birthday concert, the concert will be no more arranged at the Borgholm Sports Arena.

New venue for the Victoria Concert!
The Victoria Concert inaugurates a new unique venue. On July 14, 2020, the concert will take place at the new venue at Borgholm Castle. The new venue is called the Slottsporten. Slottsporten is located outside Borgholm Castle's northeastern tower with views from the Alvarskanten over Borgholm harbor and Kalmarsund. The location shows an extremely beautiful part of Öland for the TV viewers and concert visitors. The new venue also fulfills the requirements for an event of the time with historical ancestry and royal brilliance that allows for further development of the celebration. The Victoria Concert will continue to be an accessible folk party and be attractive to TV viewers, visitors and collaborators. In addition, Slottsporten offers the opportunity for more people to participate in the folk party.
- Thoughts about a venue outside the castle have been around for a long time. Already in 2014 in connection with an EU project, adjustments were made which laid the foundation for a venue outside the castle. It feels quite right that it is precisely the Victoria Concert that is implementing the plans, says Jan-Åke Johansson, Castle Manager.
- We were looking for a way to more clearly highlight Öland as a venue while retaining accessibility and popular anchoring. Slottsporten gives us all that and at the same time meets the requirement for an event in time and enables further development, says Stephan Rimér, CEO of Victoriadagarna.

The Mamas performs at the Victoria Concert
The Mamas won Melodifestivalen with the song "Move" and represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest (if it is held).
It is now clear that Ash Haynes, Loulou LaMotte and Dinah Yona's Manna, better known as The Mamas, will perform at the Victoria Concert on July 14.
- It is a great honor for us to once again have the opportunity to perform for the royal family and for Crown Princess Victoria on her birthday. We look forward to coming to Borgholm and to celebrate the Victoria days with our song "Move", says The Mamas.
This year, the Victoria Concert will move to a brand new playground called Slottsporten in front of Borgholm Castle and now the first artist is ready.
- Great fun to be able to present The Mamas as the first artist for the "new" Victoria concert at Borgholm Castle. It feels very inspiring to be able to invite the royal family, the audience and the TV viewers to see the winners of Melodifestivalen, says Victoria Days CEO Stephan Rimér.
The Victoria Concert will take place at Slottsporten in front of Borgholms Slott on Tuesday 14 July at 18:30 and will be broadcast in SVT1 and SVT Play at 21:00.
The Mamas uppträder på Victoriakonserten - Victoriadagarna

Crown Princess Victoria risks losing out this year's perhaps most important festivity. All because of the corona virus.
The coronavirus, covid-19, has hit hard on virtually all social functions.
The European Football Championship has been postponed, the Eurovision Song Contest does not go as expected and the Swedish government has issued a ban on all events that attract more than 500 people.
The annual Victoriadagen is undeniably an event of that scale. In 2020, Victoriadagen will take place on July 14 at Slottsporten, the new playground at Borgholm Castle. It is meant to be a folk party with many visitors and artist performances from, among others, Melodifestivalen winners The Mamas.
To cancel the concert would not be easy for Victoria. But Agnes Wold, professor of clinical bacteriology at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, believes that the event is basically impossible to implement at the present time.
- I have a very hard time imagining it will be organised. I see what's going on as an extremely lengthy epidemic. It is not a matter of a few weeks of caution, here it is necessary to keep for six months, says Agnes.
Organizer Stephan Rimér believes that the work on Victoriadagen will, however, continue as planned.
- We work on the basis that it will happen, says Stephan.
At the same time, everyone involved is aware of the state of this type of planned major event, admits Stephan.
- We discuss the virus effects on a daily basis. This has become such a big part of everyone's everyday life. We try to form an idea of how it affects us in the long term. The future feels so uncertain and unstable in general.

Crown Princess Victoria has been celebrating her birthday with the Swedish people since she was two years old. For 40 years, hundreds of thousands of people have traveled to Öland and Solliden to congratulate the most popular member of the royal family. And it is impossible to count all the drawings and gifts that have been brought into the Palace area over the years. But now the corona virus is breaking the tradition.
But now the court is forced to change the birthday, July 14, because of the directive of the Public Health Agency. This is what Margareta Thorgren says.
- It will not be a traditional celebration, which we are used to. Crown Princess Victoria will be celebrated but we look over the possibilities.
Can't gather people at Solliden
So it will be a celebration. But probably on a much smaller scale. Many people also wonder if Princess Madeleine will be able to attend her big sister's 43rd birthday. She is in the USA, and is not allowed to travel to Sweden at this time. In addition, the royal couple isolate themselves at Stenhammar Castle, outside Flen, and don't meet their children and grandchildren at all. A lot can of course happen until mid-July, but the royal family and the court are also keen to take it safe.
And what would Victoriadagen really be without hugs and selfies?
Nya detaljer om Victoriadagen 2020 _ Svensk Dam

Every year, Crown Princess Victoria's birthday is celebrated with cheers and hugs from the public at Solliden Palace on Öland.
But this year, the corona virus is likely to stop it.
- It will not be as usual, says Margareta Thorgren.
For 40 years, thousands of people have traveled to Öland to congratulate Crown Princess Victoria.
Due to the authorities directive, it will be different on Victoriadagen July 14 this year.
- We are following the authorities' recommendations and as it looks now, there will be a change in that planning, says Margareta Thorgren to Aftonbladet.
Since public gatherings of more than 50 people are not allowed, the public cannot travel to Öland and congratulate the Crown Princess as the situation now looks, says Margareta Thorgren.
- But one thing that is certain is that she will be celebrated - how, we will see, she says.

Press release from the organizer of Victoria's birthday concert:

The Victoria Concert will be produced without public audience
With regards to the current situation in Sweden and in the World, the Victoria Concert on 14 July will be produced without public audience. The broadcasted concert in honour of the Crown Princess of Sweden on her birthday has been a public celebration on Öland for over 40 years, but this year there will only be a few invited guests in the audience. The Victoria Concert will be broadcasted on SVT1 14 July at 9 pm.
– It’s sad that we cannot give the Crown Princess a public celebration this year, but at the moment it does not feel responsible to produce a concert with thousands of people. This year we will focus on making the TV-program as good as possible, says Stephan Rimér, head of the Victoria Concert.

Crown Princess Victoria is forced to stay home
Victoria, however, will not be among the guests. At least not if the situation persists.
- Right now, the Public Health Agency does not recommend longer trips in Sweden, but if that recommendation is changed, there is the opportunity for the royal family to spend the summer on Öland in connection with Victoriadagen, said Margareta Thorgren.
According to the government's new travel guidelines, Swedes can move one to two hours from their home by car. This means that a trip to Öland is not possible for the Crown Princess in the current situation.

Kronprinsessan Victoria – besked om familjen _ Svensk Dam

Victoriadagen on July 14 has been celebrated with a family party in Öland since Crown Princess Victoria was a child.
For many, the day has become synonymous with televised artist performances and the royal family benched on the first parquet. The day is especially noticeable in Borgholm and Öland, where the whole week around Victoria's birthday is filled with a packed program.
Stephan Rimér, the organizer, says to Expressen that it is hoped that Crown Princess Victoria can travel down to Öland and be in place - but so far it is nothing he dares to state.
- That is the starting point but nobody knows anything right now. We expect news to come out continuously in the coming weeks, as the rules for the summer are set, says Stephan Rimér.
The Victoria Concert will be broadcast in SVT1 on July 14th at 9pm. What other activities during the Victoria Days July 10-15 will look like is still being planned.

Crown Princess Victoria is expected to be in place when Victoriadagen begins. But at present, no one knows if she will show up.
The plan is that “a few invited guests” will have the opportunity to follow the concert on site. Stephan Rimér is the main responsible for the event:
- We mainly think of the Crown Princess family. We don't think there will be room for so many more, says Stephan.
- We don't have so many details at the moment. We wait to see what the Public Health Agency says. It has been said that they will be releasing new information on June 3 regarding the restrictions that apply to summer.
Is there any backup plan - that the Crown Princess is included in the video link for example?
- We haven't even thought about that yet. We await. We sent the press release due of respect for everyone who bought tickets so they could get the money back.

Svensk Damtidning
Will Crown Princess Victoria be able to attend and celebrate her birthday in Öland? That is the big question, and a message of fate that the royal family awaits impatiently. And it is the words of Anders Tegnell that determine.
The organizers also hope for a message today:
- The Public Health Agency has flagged for it to come on June 3, says project manager Stephan Rimér.
- And as soon as we get it we will be able to tell more. There is so much that is determined by the directive of the Public Health Agency.
- That there will be no audience, we already relate to this, but the message of the Public Health Agency determines whether the royal family will be able to attend - and where we will be able to be
- We have made so many alternative plans now in the spring, so now we wait for the message before we move on.
However, Stephan Rimér hopes that Victoriagolfen and the Victorialoppet will be possible in some form, alongside the Victoria Concert.
- But it won't be like previous years, it won't be.
And the Victoria Scholarship, how do you think about it?
- We expect to be able to appoint this year's Victoria Scholarship winner at the beginning of June.
Now everything depends on the message from Anders Tegnell. But the question is whether it really comes today:
- Johan Carlsson has said June 3, but I can't promise anything. We are working feverishly on this, so the only thing I can say right now is that it will come in the days, says Henrik Josephson at the Public Health Agency's press department.
Ödesbeskedet till Victoria och Daniel _ Svensk Dam

Svensk Damtidning
It is not even certain that Crown Princess Victoria can attend her own birthday celebration. The decision is entirely in the hands of the Public Health Agency, and in the message of domestic travel that the entire Swedish people are waiting impatiently for right now.
But already it is clear that the ban on public gatherings with more than 50 people remains over the Crown Princess's birthday. And the cancelled festivities in conjunction with Victoriadagen are a tough blow to Borgholm.
- Yes, Victoriadagen, or the Victoria Days as it is now called, has been a flagship for us for many years, says Öland's tourism manager Johan Göransson.
- We have a very nice relationship with the royal family and this is a bit of Öland's national day, so it is clear that it means a lot to us.
And what does this cancelled folk festival mean for Öland in general?
- Obviously it's unfortunate, and very boring. But it is still understandable. We all have a responsibility to follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency and now we are waiting for the recommendations on domestic travel that will be coming this week. And we try to change, and not just cancel. The organizers behind the Victoria Days are very creative and find other solutions, says Johan Göransson.
Everyone will at least be able to see the Victoria Concert, it will be broadcast as usual on the Crown Princess's birthday on July 14 and the broadcast will start at 21.00 in SVT1.

Press release from the court

The Crown Princess's Birthday
The traditional celebration of HRH The Crown Princess's birthday on July 14 will be adapted this year on the occasion of the covid-19 pandemic.
Due to prevailing restrictions, the traditional celebration at Solliden Palace is canceled. The Crown Princess does not meet the public to receive congratulations at the roundabout in front of Solliden Palace.
The Victoria concert is traditionally broadcast on Sweden's television on the birthday night. The concert takes place in Borgholm Castle ruin, with no paying audience, with only a few invited guests in the audience.
Solliden Palace
Solliden Palace is open as usual during the summer and visitors are warmly welcomed. A number of measures have been taken to prevent the spread of infection.

To avoid the spread of the Corona virus, the traditional celebration of Crown Princess Victoria's birthday at Solliden Palace this year will be canceled. Of course, it is sad to have to cancel this incredibly appreciated event, but it is obvious that we must follow the authorities' advice on both social distance and to avoid larger crowds in these times.
Solliden Palace is still open as usual and all visitors are warmly welcomed to enjoy the day in the fine Palace park. This year it is also possible to order a picnic basket to bring in and we open up the English park as a picnic area. Here, tables will be placed and even areas for own blankets. Other parts such as Kaffetorpet and the Royal Gift Shop are also open for visits as usual.

Press release from the organizer of Victoria Concert - Armand Duplantis gets the Victoria Award
Armand "Mondo" Duplantis has been one of the hottest athletes in the world in recent years. In 2018 he took the European gold as an 18-year-old and the following year it became World Championships silver in Doha. Before this year's competitions were canceled or postponed, Armand started the season brilliantly.
Armand Duplantis is awarded the Victoria Award in 2020 for jumping higher than any other pole jumpers of all time. Twice more. The first world record Duplantis set when he jumped 6.17 meters in February at the indoor competition in Torun, Poland. In Glasgow just a week later it was time again. In the first attempt he managed 6.18 by margin and raised his own world record by one centimeter. It was the first Swedish world record in athletics since 2008, when Susanna Kallur beat the indoor world record on the 60 m hurdles.
- It is a great honor for me to receive the Victoria Award. To be among those other great Swedish athletes who have received it in previous years feels fantastic, says Armand Duplantis.
The Victoria Award has been awarded annually since 1979. The award is presented by H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria during the Victoria Concert on July 14, 2020. The Victoria Concert will be broadcast in SVT1 and SVT Play on Tuesday, July 14 at 9:00 pm.

The government released the restrictions and announced to the public that holidaymakers will be able to travel freely around the country, starting June 13. This means that Crown Princess Victoria will follow the concert on the spot, on Öland. But what about the other family members?
We called the director of the court's press department, Margareta Thorgren, who announced that she will be returning later with information about which royals will be present during the concert in Borgholm Castle ruin. However, already now, she makes clear that the king and queen are not two of them.
The coronavirus thus stops the king and queen from celebrating their oldest daughter on her birthday. And thus a 40-year-old tradition is broken. In addition, Victoria will not meet the Swedish people outside Solliden, because a larger group of people are not wanted to gather in these times.

Press release from the organizer of The Victoria Concert, Victoria's birthday concert:

Yvette Hermundstad leads the celebration of the Crown Princess's birthday
The Victoria concert sent by SVT will undergo major changes this year, but one thing that remains is the program host. Following last year's success, Yvette Hermundstad is once again given the confidence to lead the television audience through the celebration of Crown Princess Victoria on July 14. Yvette has during the year been the program host for the Winter studio and when the corona virus struck she was involved in starting Helgstudion in SVT.
- It feels honorable and fun to once again gain the confidence of being the program host of the celebration of the Crown Princess. It is a special day with a special celebration just this year. I am very expectant and look forward to paying tribute to the 42nd - and so worthy - Victoria Award winner, says Yvette Hermundstad.
This year's Victoria concert will be held at Borgholm Castle. It has been clear since before that The Mamas will perform and that Armand Duplantis will be awarded the Victoria Award. More artists will be featured in July.
- Great to work with Yvette again. Given the major changes we have been forced to make this year, it feels extra safe to have such a professional and experienced program host as Yvette, says Stephan Rimér, responsible for Victoriadagarna.

Svensk Damtidning has talked with Stephan Rimér, the organizer of Victoria Concert.

Stephan Rimér, who is responsible for the Victoria Concert, reveals that it will take place in a completely unique place:
- Yes, I can tell you that we have a new place. It will be in Borgholm Castle ruin, as planned, but not in the usual playground of the courtyard, but in a special hall called the Audience Room. It is so incredibly beautiful, and feels so luxurious.
- As you see, this room has no roof, so it's a nice ruin feeling, and it's a pretty intimate room, at least for this kind of productions with artists, orchestra and all the cameras. I would think it is at just over a hundred square.
So will be Victoria Day on Öland 2020
But what do you do if it rains?
- Now we're not talking about the weather! It never rains on Öland!
Who comes from the royal family?
- Crown Princess Victoria, of course, and Prince Daniel. Maybe Princess Estelle will come too. And soon, we expect to have the decision if Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill will be able to attend.
- We also hope, of course, that Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia say yes. However, the royal couple will not attend.
And other guests?
- No, there will be no others. Only the royal family is in place this year.
So a concert with only the royal family in the audience. At the same time as the all Swedish people can enjoy the concert in Sweden's Television. So special!
Stephan Rimér nods:
- Yes, these are special times. But the Victoria Concert will be broadcast in SVT, and everyone will be able to participate in the collection to Crown Princess Victoria's Fund, just as usual.
The Mamas will be on stage to pay tribute to Victoria, but the other artists are still secret. The Victoria Award will be awarded to athlete Armand Duplantis, on the grounds that he jumped higher than any other pole vaulters of all time. Like last year, the program host is Yvette Hermundstad.

Stephan Rimér, the organizer of the Victoria Concert, said today to Svensk Damtidning:
- Right now Princess Madeleine can't and is not allowed to come here. Her presence stands and falls with US restrictions, says Stephan Rimér, who is responsible for Victoriadagarna.
When do you think you get the notice of Madeleine?
- I really have no prediction for that. We are prepared to receive this message very late.
But otherwise it is a nice arrangement, it is clear when we speak with Stephan Rimér.
- I can confirm that Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia will also be present.
They come to Öland and the royal family's summer palace, both to attend the Victoria Concert, and to celebrate their sister and sister-in-law privately.
This year, the concert takes place in Borgholm's mighty castle ruin, more specifically in the so-called Audience Room, a more than 300-year-old ruin hall overlooking the Alvaret and Kalmarsund.
But, for the first time in all years, the royal couple will stay home like the home-inolated seventy-plus people they are, and thus miss the entire televised, but this year very intimate Victoria concert.
Sofia stöttar Victoria – efter beskedet om Madeleine _ Svensk Dam

Margareta Thorgren to Expressen:
Until now, it has been uncertain whether the Crown Princess could even attend the Victoria Concert - but now comes a happy message.
- The Crown Princess with family spends a big part of July in Öland. The family is there during Victoriadagarna, says Margareta Thorgren.
- There will be no traditional celebration from Solliden, but in the evening the Victoria concert will be broadcast on SVT, however without audience. The Crown Princess participates.
Daniel and Victoria come to Solliden with their family in July - and soon Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia will also join with their sons. The royal family continues to follow the restrictions on social distance.
- The royal couple is on Öland now, the others are coming to Victoriadagarna, says Margareta Thorgren.
According to the court, Madeleine may not be there, she and her family are in the United States.
- About princess Madeleine we don't know yet, it depends on the US restrictions, says Margareta Thorgren.

Svensk Damtidning:
According to what the Svensk Damtidning has been informed, a very special surprise is planned at Crown Princess Victoria's official birthday party: Prince Oscar makes his debut at the Victoria Concert. His first royal evening job!
This information is partially supported by Stephan Rimér, who is responsible for the entire event:
- There is certainly a hope and an intention for the children to come along, both Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. But it is a decision which will be made on that day.
Princess Estelle was just four years old, as old as Prince Oscar is now, when she first took a seat at Borgholm Sports Arena, wearing her bright pink earmuffs.
Ever since then, Princess Estelle has been at the first parquet when Mother Victoria is celebrated. The concert usually takes place at Borgholm Sports Arena, but this year the Victoria Concert has instead moved into Borgholm Castle. An intimate concert and a very small audience: It will only be the royal family! However, without the royal couple, who continue their home isolation, but at Solliden.

It would be great if the royal court would arrange a little photoshoot for the media at Solliden with the crown princess family, now when the photographers don't get their thousands of photos of Victoria and her family and the king and queen speaking with people and the children playing at the yard.

Press release from the organizer of The Victoria Concert, Victoria's birthday concert:

They perform at the Victoria Concert
It is now clear which artists will be performing at the SVT-sent Victoria concert on July 14. The Victoria Concert is a tribute to Crown Princess Victoria on her birthday and this year the Crown Princess and TV audience are invited to music performances by Linnea Henriksson, The Mamas, Petra Marklund, Anne Sofie von Otter and Oscar Stembridge. In addition, the Norwegian star Sigrid participates with prerecorded numbers from Norway. The music is performed by conductor Stefan Sporsén and Augustifamiljen.
- Such a special year where the Victoria concert has to be performed without the usual sea of public, it feels fun and safe to be able to lean against such an amazing array of artists. I think it will be appreciated by both the Crown Princess and the TV audience, says Stephan Rimér, responsible for Victoriadagarna.
The Victoria Concert will take place at Borgholm Castle and will be broadcast in SVT1 and SVT Play on Tuesday 14 July at 21:00.
About Linnea Henriksson
Linnea Henriksson is one of Sweden's most appreciated artists with three solo albums in the back and a Christmas EP celebrated by both audiences and critics.
About The Mamas
The Mamas is the group that broke through overnight as choir singers. The impact came immediately after they participated in the Melodifestivalen 2019 together with the winner John Lundvik.
This year, The Mamas put themselves in the Melodifestivalen with the song "Move" and it ended again with success and win for The Mamas.
About Petra Marklund
With her melancholy voice in contrast to danceable arrangements in pop's characters, Petra Marklund has topped lists worldwide and has been awarded numerous awards. Her songs have over 120 million gigs on Spotify and have been part of the Stockholm Hall of Fame at Arlanda.
About Anne Sofie von Otter
The Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter made her opera debut in Basel in 1983 and has since sung at opera houses worldwide. In 1995, von Otter was appointed court singer. Anne Sofie has also won both the Swedish and American Grammy Awards.
About Oscar Stembridge
12-year-old Oscar Stembridge is the youngest artist ever to sign a record deal with Universal Music Sweden. He started performing at the age of six, and when he was seven, he began sharing his musical talent on social media, where he now has over 170,000 followers. Oscar's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody paid tribute to none other than Queen and his Guns N 'Roses
About Sigrid
The Norwegian artist Sigrid got her breakthrough in her home country in 2013 when she released the debut single "Sun". In 2017 she got her international break with the hit song "Don't Kill My Vibe" and the following year she won the BBC Music Sound of 2018.

The organizers of Victoriadagarna (the events around Victoria's birthday) have published the annual Victoriadagarna Magazine.

At the magazine is also an article about Victoria's year from birthday in 2019 to this year's birthday
Image Upper.com - Free Image Hosting - View Image

At the magazine it is told also:
This year, the Victoria Concert is being performed only as a TV production inside Borgholm Castle, but the event's new venue and future are outside the castle walls.
One of the big news this year was that the Victoria Concert, after more than 40 years at Borgholm Sports Arena, has been given a new venue by the name Slottsporten outside Borgholms Castle's northeast tower. With views from Alvarskanten, over Borgholm harbor and Kalmarsund, the unique place creates experiences for both concert visitors and TV viewers. In addition, Slottsporten offers the opportunity for more people to participate in the national festival, and fulfills the requirements for an event in time with historical ancestry and royal splendor.
The idea was to inaugurate the new venue this year, but this will now be done in conjunction with the Victoria Concert 2021. This year's event, which is arranged without paying audience and becomes a purely TV production, will instead be performed in one of the halls at Borgholm Castle.

- We have created the conditions for Victoriadagarna to continue to be of great national interest and at the same time to be a strong and appreciated meeting place locally. Among other things, we have launched a new venue for the Victoria Concert at Borgholms Castle and created new exciting opportunities for partners.
We know that many people appreciate and think that the celebration of Victoria is important, and so it feels good to be able to perform a television broadcast despite these difficult times. Of course, it is sad to not be able to receive our fantastic audience which means a lot to us and The Crown Princess, but hopefully we will meet again next year.
- Victoriadagarna will also carry out a simplified edition of the traditional Victoriagolfen on July 13. However, the popular Move For Fun activity at Ekerum Resort Öland is canceled. At Move For Fun, which was visited by Prince Daniel last year, thousands of children, young people and adults have had the opportunity to watch sports, try sports and be part of a welcoming sports environment filled with joy of movement. Move For Fun has become a big party and we look forward to it again next year. Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude for the support we have known from the region and to all the partners who, despite difficult times, have shown their willingness to contribute to the continued development of Victoriadagarna, says Stephan Rimér, CEO of Victoriadagarna.

About the concert:
Anders G Carlsson, SVT's project manager at the concert:
- A few days after last year's program was aired, we started making the puzzle again. Then things have happened along the way that we have had to adapt to, like that there will now not be a crowd of thousands. But it's nothing the TV viewers will notice. It will be exciting to work with the new place at Borgholm Castle. The castle is extremely beautiful, a national treasure. I hope it is good weather so we can have nice pictures at sunset. The new place is a boost for both the on-site audience and the TV viewers at home.
The Mamas, one of the performers:
How does it feel to perform at the Victoria Concert 2020?
- It's a great honor and a bit unreal. The Mamas has only been together a little more than one year. The royal family seems to like us as this is the third time we are performing to them in different contexts. We are all very tagged, and because we want the Crown Princess to be the first to know what we are going to sing, we do not intend to reveal anything now.

Armand Duplantis, the Laureate of the Victoria Award:
Congratulations of the Victoria Award, Armand!
- Thank you very much, it is incredibly honorable to receive the Victoria Award considering all the great athletes who got it before and that pole vault doesn't belong to the most popular sports. Now I look forward to getting to Öland, that's the first the time I go there, and to meet the royal family. I have met Prince Daniel before, but not Crown Princess Victoria.

The annual Victoria Days are approaching. In connection with the celebration of the Crown Princess's birthday on July 14, there are several ways to engage and support children with disabilities through the Crown Princess Victoria's Fund.
Just like last year, Yvette Hermundstad is the program host for the birthday celebration at the Victoria Concert, which this year will be held at Borgholm Castle. There are performing, among other things, Melodifestivalen winners The Mamas and this year's Victoria Award is delivered to pole vaulter Armand Duplantis. Do not miss the broadcast in SVT1 at 21:00 on July 14.
This year everyone in the whole country has the opportunity to participate in Victorialoppet (Victoria Race), and at the same time contribute to the Crown Princess Victoria's Fund. The 40-year-old competition usually takes place in Borgholm for only one day, but now takes place during the period 10-15 July all over Sweden. In addition to running, you can hike or cycle the race.
Children with disabilities or chronic illness have the same right to active leisure as all other children. Crown Princess Victoria's Fund provides support to associations in Sweden in, for example, camp operations, travel / excursions and various sports. The aim is to contribute to active leisure time, break isolation, raise the quality of life, strengthen self-esteem and make new friends.

Herman Lindqvist, author and once Victoria's teacher in history, wrote at his column in Svensk Damtidning last week:
For decades, July 14 has been Öland's National day, the Crown Princess' birthday. Tens of thousands of people flock to get a glimpse of Victoria and perhaps of the entire royal family. This year, corona silence is over Öland. The party is gone. A concert will be held in the castle ruins, but only for the guests and the royals. No one is allowed to come to Solliden to wave and cheer for the Crown Princess. The laughter is gone.
Nothing is longer as it was and very little will be exactly as before. Victoria's concert in Borgholm Castle ruin will be shown on live TV, always something. But without the large audience, the atmosphere can not be the same, neither for the artists nor for the TV audience.
Victoria will probably still feel that millions are thinking of her this day and a tribute will surely paid to her in every way modern electronic technology can achieve.
Warm congratulations on the birthday, the Crown Princess!

The concert on Victoria Day will thus take place in the castle ruins, but without an audience.
- The Crown Princess couple participates together with the prince couple, says Margareta Thorgren to Hänt.
Whether Princess Madeleine and the family will be able to attend, the court does not know yet, as the circumstances surrounding covid-19 have made it uncertain for their future. It is still unclear if they will come to Sweden this year.
But the question is where will the king and queen stay?
- During the concert, the royal couple will not participate, says Margareta Thorgren. She continues:
- Other celebrations take place privately at Solliden.
What is the reason why the King and Queen will not be present during the concert itself? This is something that the court has a short and concise answer to.
- The pandemic, Margareta Thorgren concludes to Hänt.

Victoria has given an interview to the swedish media. The interview has been made at Haga Palace by Elin Swedenmark from TT News Agency, and TT has delivered the news and photos by Jonas Ekströmer to other medias.

Interview with Crown Princess Victoria before the birthday
Crown Princess Victoria receives in the garden at Haga. Now she tells about her great hiking trip, the fond childhood memories with the king and queen and her great wish with Prince Daniel.
Since her 40th birthday, Crown Princess Victoria has walked all of Sweden's provinces. In times when Swedes are forced to stay at home, she hopes that more people will discover nature - to also start to take better care of it.
Now the experience has become a book, by Johan Erséus, which will be released just in time for her 43rd birthday.
Crown Princess Victoria on the new book
The Crown Princess herself has written the foreword, in which she testifies about her longing for forest and land. Admittedly, due to her role, she has visited large parts of Sweden.
- But it is rare to get out into nature, it is often the cities you get to, she says. A sunny day outside Haga Castle, and continues:
- This is also in line with Daniel's and my ambition to encourage more physical activity and to break our sedentary lifestyle that increasingly characterizes our society. And the hikes were a great excuse not to just be inside the office, she says.
Reminding Swedes of our natural treasure is a passion that the Crown Princess has had for a long time. She pays tribute to the everyman's right, which makes nature accessible to everyone - free of charge.
The call to the Swedish people in the corona crisis
- You can do a lot in Sweden and now more than ever we Swedes are needed here at home. When international tourism will not be so tangible, we will need to support the actors who are struggling to survive, she says.
She herself was struck by the variety of nature during her hikes. In fact, she had already seen a trip to Sweden for her inner self: she got the vision before her wedding ten years ago, when she and her future husband Daniel listened to Benny Andersson's music, which then became the song “Vilar glad. I din famn” with text by Kristina Lugn.
- It may sound a little strange but before our wedding this fantastic song was written and we sat in the studio and got to listen. It was as if the whole of Sweden was played for me. It felt like I was sitting on the goose Akka in Nils Holgersson's journey, and started in Skåne with all the plains, depths and fields. So I thought, "how can I be Nils Holgersson?"
During the hikes, she carried with her a note with words that she received from Skara's dean in Västergötland: “Freedom. Slowness. Simplicity. Carelessness. Silence. Attributing. Spirituality." But there was not really that much reflection - instead, the hikes became educational trips where each landscape gave new lessons about everything from industrial history to geology.
That we should get out more is not just about our own health.
- It is healing and healing in many ways to be in nature, both physically and mentally. But I think that also for our future, it is important that many learn to appreciate nature, to protect it and see the values that can otherwise be lost, very quickly.
She emphasizes important actors, such as when preschools teach children about pollination and cycles. Her own interest in the environment was founded in childhood, when her parents often talked about nature and the environment, she remembers.
Victoria's own summer plans
- It is fantastic that people move outside and get an increased desire for forest and land, but wear and tear increases. So then you have to be observant of how to lay joints and maybe re-lead, says the Crown Princess. She herself will have her holiday in her favorite province.
- I have spent all my summers on Öland, so it is close to my heart for that reason.
The work for biological diversity
- We try both at home and in the organization to talk about those issues and the Royal Djurgården Administration works with biological diversity: Which trees should be especially protected and what rare species do we have in the area. We have a very large responsibility in the Royal Court and the Royal Djurgården Administration, these are quite large green areas if you think of Ulriksdal, northern and southern Djurgården and Haga Park. But they are sensitive, they are located in the middle of a densely populated city, and they are used extremely much - which is fantastic. There you can teach about nature, but the wear and tear is also great. It is important that we are on the alert.

Crown Princess Victoria has given an exclusive interview with TT in connection with her birthday. Tomorrow Victoria turns 43 years old. In the interview, she talks enthusiastically about her environmental interest and all the province hikes she has done in recent years. Despite the pandemic, Crown Princess Victoria will be celebrated in the best way when she turns 43 tomorrow.
Victoriadagen is Öland's own "national day" and the islanders and all visitors are used to gathering to celebrate. But crowds over 50 people are not allowed this year - so will the Public Health Agency's corona restrictions be able to be kept? Or will many people still be crowded outside the castle ruins, when the completely closed Victoria Concert starts in Borgholm castle ruins? This is an issue that raises some concerns, not least among the royal family, who themselves follow the recommendations meticulously.
- Of course it can be so. But if there is a risk of congestion, there is a plan for this as well, says Margareta Thorgren to Svensk Damtidning.
- And it's outdoors, so it's possible to spread out on Alvaret.
Another nightmare is that there will be a cloudburst tomorrow. The Victoria Concert takes place for the first time in the castle ruins, more precisely in the so-called Audience Room, and this is a room without a roof. So rain in that situation would definitely be not a good thing.
But the royal family and - and the organizers - seem to be able to breathe a sigh of relief. After all, the weather outlook looks decent. It will not be a perfect summer day with high summer heat like last year, but still changing clouds and (most important of all) no rain.

Crown Princess Victoria's beautiful birthday on Öland
A different but very special day. Crown Princess Victoria's birthday is not the same.
The popular royal, however, can rejoice in the love of the people.
Crown princess Victoria's 43rd birthday will be memorable for a sad reason. There will be no traditional courtship outside Solliden Palace where King Carl Gustaf's father usually leads the singing and cheers with great enthusiasm and there will be no celebration of Victoria at the sports arena in Borgholm.
It is the hateful corona crisis that is causing it. The Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations must apply and therefore it will be a different celebration of our Crown Princess this year.
Ever since the Crown Princess celebrated her second birthday on Öland, the beautiful summer island has become the place where she is traditionally celebrated, with a few exceptions.
But Victoria is a stoic and conscientious nature, so she doesn't care. The Crown Princess wants to do everything she can in the fight against the coronavirus and for her it is a small sacrifice not to be able to be celebrated in the usual way. And besides, Victoria will be really celebrated anyway, albeit in slightly different forms.
It is a beloved and appreciated royal that celebrates its birthday, the Crown Princess is the public figure in Sweden who enjoys the greatest confidence among the Swedish people and the person who has received the greatest confidence since the polls began.

Muted celebration of Crown Princess Victoria
Mother and father can stay at home. No audience. New concert venue. Nothing is the same when Crown Princess Victoria celebrates her birthday on Öland today.
- The restrictions mean that we can not allow certain traditions, says Margareta Thorgren.
Crown Princess Victoria turns 43 today. And ever since she was two years old, the Swedish heir to the throne has celebrated her birthday together with the royal family and the public at Solliden, Öland. But this year, the celebration will be far from what everyone is used to. The corona pandemic has changed the conditions for birthday celebrations significantly.
- It is the case that we are in the middle of a pandemic so it will look different. The traditional celebration of the Crown Princess, where the public is allowed to greet, has been canceled. However, the park is kept open. But it is important to take the pandemic seriously and avoid crowds so the Crown Princess will not receive congratulations, says Margareta Thorgren.
Will the children be able to hand over flowers to Victoria this year?
- The restrictions mean that we can not allow it, unfortunately, Thorgren explains.
- The royal couple belongs to the risk group so they will not be in place but follow the celebration in another way. Princess Madeleine and her family are in the United States and they do not have the opportunity to come here for obvious reasons, says Margareta Thorgren.
Despite the lack of an audience, Crown Princess Victoria will be able to enjoy a live concert with, among others, The Mamas, Anne Sofie von Otter, Linnea Henriksson, Petra Marklund and Oscar Stembridge. In addition, the Norwegian star Sigrid participates with pre-recorded numbers from Norway and the Victoria Award for this year's best sporting achievement, will be awarded as usual.
- It will be a castle concert in the evening without an audience with only the prince and princess and a few in the production. It is important to keep this few in this year's celebration, says Margareta Thorgren.
New for this year would be the filming location when you leave the sports venue to broadcast the celebration from the magnificent Borgholm Castle, more specifically from the audience hall inside the castle.
- It is of course very sad not to be able to give the Crown Princess an audience tribute this year, but right now it does not feel responsible to carry out a concert with thousands of people in the audience. This year we have to invest everything in making as good a TV program as possible, says Stephan Rimér who is responsible for Victoria Concert.

Armand Duplantis, the Victoria Award Laureate, has today been invited to Victoria's house at Solliden.
When it was announced that Armand Duplantis would get the Victoria Award, he told to the swedish press that he will have lunch with Victoria and her family at Solliden.

Armand's agent Daniel Wessfeldt confirms to Svensk Damtidning that the 20-year-old has been invited to "fika" with Victoria.
- They should be at home with her, he and the royal family, says Daniel.
Armand grew up in the United States. Does he have a good knowledge of the Swedish royalty?
- Yes, he knows very well who they are. And one should remember that his second name is "Gustav". It probably comes from his mother, who wants to strengthen the Swedish language. And he played golf with Prince Daniel yesterday. They had a nice chat.
Prince Daniel is an experienced golfer with an impressive handicap. He took the much more inexperienced Armand under his wings yesterday.
- It went well, considering how short a time he has played, says Daniel Wessfelt.
Tonight, the Victoria Concert is waiting, at Borgholm Castle - but there will not be a large crowd on site.
- There are huge restrictions. Only nine people can be in there, says Daniel Wessfelt.

Svensk Damtidning writes again that Oscar will come to the concert this evening, for the first time.
Stephan Rimér, the organizer of the concert says:
- There is a hope and an intention that the children will come, both when it comes to Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. But it is a decision that is made during the day.
The director of the press department cannot confirm the information, but is still a bit secretive:
- Let it be a surprise, she says to Svensk Damtidning.

Victoria's greeting on her birthday from Solliden, at Solliden Palace's social media
Victoria says:
- Today is usually a special day in the palace park here at Solliden, when extra many people choose to come and greet us. And it is always very fun to come out here in the park with my family and greet all the children and adults who have come here to celebrate with us. And in the evening, there are usually thousands of islanders and visitors who together pay tribute to the year's Victoria Award laureate.
This year, unfortunately, the situation looks different. We have to find new ways to celebrate holidays and summer traditions and to spend time with relatives and friends. And some things we simply have to wait until the pandemic is over.
Recently, Daniel and I have had the opportunity to talk to health care employees in different parts of the country. They have told about what they have seen and experienced this spring and summer.
These conversations have made a strong impression on me and us. So if I may wish for one thing on my birthday, it is this: That together we do everything we can to continue to hold on, hang in there and keep our distance. There will be more summers, and there will hopefully be more birthdays. But there may never be a more important moment than now to show each other care and consideration.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the nice birthday greetings I have received, and wish everyone in Sweden a continued nice summer!
