During the visit at the Keukenhof, the Netherlands premier, prof. dr. Jan-Peter Balkenende was asked about Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden: "I have had the pleasure to meet the Crown Princess for the first time in 2004 [baptism of her godchild Princess Catharina-Amalia] and she is a wonderful lady. She is very cordial. It is always a honour when the Crown Princess of Sweden brings a visit to our country. It is known that the Crown Princess maintains a very close and dear relationship with our royal family. Yes, I'm honoured that I may receive and escort her today".

Makes me wonder, how the relationship between the PM and the dutch Royal Family generally is? He is talking so positively about them...I don´t think, that one would see this in Sweden. At least not in the many years with a socialdemocratic government. The RF and Göran Persson surely got along, but real love, it wasn´t (or didn´t seem)

And thank you for the video...it is looking, as if the Keukenhof ppl have a wicked sense of humour and even encouraged her to touch the pole at the side, so that it would fell down. And she did it with so much power, that one could think, it was on purpose. And actually both got, what they wanted and needed. The Keukenhof some attention and Victoria some headlines

Of course it could also be, that she simply has this power. If you are looking at her cervical veins...this would make every bodybuilder jealous

The relationship of Queen Beatrix with her premiers was (is) quite good. It are durable relationships. Queen Beatrix came on the throne in 1980 and she has only appointed three premiers in all those 27 years. The premier always helds a speech on the Queen's birthday, on births and on deaths and personifies the 'attachment' of the people to the Royal House. Every premier has done it in warm words, stressing the bond between Netherlands and Orange, the devotion to the Queen, etc.

Actually Lena, it's rather the opposite. Maybe it was not love, but Göran Persson, who was our Prime Minister for over ten years, was rather fond of King Carl Gustaf and among the establishment he was one of his strongest defenders.

For example during the Brunei scandal, Persson publicly defended the King in his statements and at a press conference, and during the recently televised documentary series on his period at PM, there is an episode were he talks about how missunderstood the King was then, that it's important to stand behind the compromiss that created our current monarchist system as a public leader and how much the Royal Family does for Sweden.

Among political circles, it's a well known fact that Göran rather likes the King and over the years he came to also like the monarchy. And every time someone asked him why he or anyone in the Government did not proceed the requirement of a republic that is in the party programme, he answered that it's a non-issue.

Naja...considering, that Brunaigate was also a politicial matter (with someone out of the official politicial apparatus informing the king about Brunai) it´s not so surprising, that he defended the king. If he would have joined the accusation campaign, the wind could have changed pretty fast. And ppl would have blamed the government. After all these state visits are not something Carl Gustaf is doing to broaden his geographical horizon and to get some good wine...

And I guess the government wasn´t in 7th heaven either, when the king took the window of opportunity and put himself into the glory light at the things around Tusnami and spread subtle hints about the government having reacted too slow ("Maybe it´s sometimes better to send an ambulance a few times too often, than too less..." or something like that. In his position he had it easy to say that)

Well, we don´t know it for sure and it´s clear, that you are seeing things different.

And maybe they really got along well. After all Göran Persson surely was more king than social democrat. So they maybe could talk about the sweet sides of life

I really admire Victoria as she has had to overcome some harsh criticism. She is veyr beautiful even though some may not see it. I saw a picture of her as a baby with her mother and father and just realised how similar she is to her mother

I caouldn't help but laugh myself when I saw the pic...But Princess Victoria always turns all bad to good! The thing I admires the most of her i how easily she smiles and laughs...She is so fresh and spontaneuous!

Thank you Tartucat for the link! That was a great video on the three, espcecially on Victoria. She seems to have a wonderful sense of humor and very down to earth personailty. She has always been my favorite royal! And it was nice to hear all three talk, I have only heard Victoria a couple of times.
