Victoria participated digitally in SeaBOS (Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship) working meeting today, and will participate during the next two days also.

SeaBOS tells at its website
"Another collaborative factor catalyzing progress has been the close engagement of HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden."

Victoria's speech, she said among other things
"And now, I will ask you to work even harder. Because there are still so many problems that need to be solved: illegal fishing, labour abuse, endangered species, antibiotics, plastics, carbon emissions and more.
We need promises, but more than anything, we need concrete results.
I know I am asking you for a lot. And I appreciate how much that is being required from you.
But remember, you are not alone. You have the same scientists on your team that recently helped mobilize Nobel Laureates and political leaders. You are in good company. These scientists help you stay ahead, and with this head start, you will be able to deliver the results that the world needs."

Svensk Damtidning points out, that Victoria said at her speech also:
After more than a year of this terrible pandemic, I think we are all longing for things to be a little more like they used to.
And yet, I think we know in our hearts that things won’t be the same, because we aren’t the same any more.
Those of us who make it through will always remember the pandemic:
How it made us reconsider some of our choices and priorities.
How it opened our eyes to our own vulnerability.
And how it made us see that in our connected world, even a small “bug” can threaten our very existence and way of life.

I'm happy to see her out and about again. Together with that UN event a few weeks ago this is her first physical engagement in months, isn't it? Not counting the church service the filmed some time ago.

Victoria attended the digital celebration of Gothenburg's 400th anniversary this afternoon. It was planned that Victoria and Daniel would be present in Gothenburg, but due to the pandemic it could not be done. And then the court announced in their calendar that Victoria and Daniel would attend the digital celebration, but now the court writes at its website, that only Victoria attended. Gothenburg, the second city of the kingdom was founded by King Gustav II Adolf in 1621. Victoria's speech was recorded at Logården at the Royal Palace.

2. She spoke at a seminar to mark UN Decade for Marine Research, on occasion for the World Ocean Day.

Victoria's speech, she said among other things
"Today is World Ocean Day. A day that is important for all of us, no matter where in the world we live. And it is important not only for us humans, but for all the species of the earth. Without sea - no life.
Still, the oceans are under threat. Of climate change and acidification, of warming and pollution, of overfishing and reduced biodiversity.
At an alarming rate, we are approaching a point where the damage to marine life is irreversible. From that point there is no way back. And the only species that can reverse evolution - that must do so - is us."

And I am sure that just like me, Crown Prince Haakon will never forget when we travelled together to Svalbard – also in company with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark – in order to deepen our knowledge about the alarming effects of climate change."

Victoria's speech, she said among other things
"Like many other Swedes, I feel a strong community with our Finnish neighbors. The friendship between our two countries is in turn part of a larger Nordic community, with strong historical roots.
We are used to close contacts and travel. By collaborating, helping each other and learning from each other.
In parts of our countries, where people commute to work on a daily basis, the border is usually something quite theoretical: only in times of war and unrest do we become aware that it is there."

Right after Victoria had participated at Gothenburg's 400 anniversary celebration with a pre-recorded speech, columnist Johan Wanloo criticized in GP Göteborgs-Posten newspaper Victoria not arriving to Gothenburg to give her speech.

Margareta Thorgren, the director of the Information Department of the Royal Court, writes an answer to Johan Wanloo at today's GP:
Columnist Johan Wanloo expressed his big disappointment that the Crown Princess has chosen not to attend physically but has given her speech, which he writes, "digitally from her home Haga Palace".
Thorgren tells that the court received two invitations from the City of Gothenburg, one to a smaller celebration on June 4, 2021 and another to 2023. The King thinks that of course Gothenburg's 400th anniversary should be celebrated. That the King should participate in the same anniversary twice, however, is not customary. That's why the King and Queen chose to agree to attend the big celebration in 2023, while Victoria and Daniel agreed to this year's celebration.
Thorgren writes that we are still in a pandemic: The royal family remains restrictive with travel. Our experience is that during royal visits, crowds arise, which is inappropriate with regard to the risk of infection. Out of respect for the serious situation, they therefore chose to take the safe before the unsafe and recommend the Crown Princess to participate digitally. A decision that I believe and hope that most people understand. It is therefore unfortunate if what is an expression of care is instead interpreted as nonchalance. This is simply not true. The royal family is Sweden's royal family and cares for the whole country.
Thorgren tells that the King plans to visit Gothenburg in September to inaugurate the Hisingsbron. In October, the King and Queen plan to christen a research ship, reopen the children's hospital and inaugurate a new organ in Gothenburg Concert Hall.
Thorgren mentions also that Victoria's greeting was not recorded at Haga Palace as Wanloo writes, but - as can be seen in the speech - at Logården by the Royal Palace. A place chosen especially for the proximity to Skeppsbrokajen where the classic Göta canal boats, which connect the kingdom's two largest cities, dock.

Victoria visited Gripsholm Castle and Hjorthagen (Gripsholm Deer Field) with Rio last week:

At Facebook and Instagram of the Royal Palaces:
Last week, the Crown Princess visited Gripsholm Castle with gardens and Hjorthagen (Gripsholm Deer Field) to get an insight into the ongoing activities.
Getting through the Castle halls on Gripsholm is a journey through history and the sights are many - the Vasa Kings' renaissance rooms, Gustav III's well-preserved 18th century Theater and the National Portrait Gallery are just a few examples. Next to the Castle is the orangery with plantations and herb garden, after which the nature reserve expands with Hjorthagen's unique flora and fauna. Gripsholms Hjorthage is a sixty hectare reserve with about a hundred fallow deer in unique oak pastures. The deer were moved here in the 1890s from Hjorthagen on Norra Djurgården, which would then begin to be built on. Today you can study up close large herds of deer roaming in their enclosure.
Gripsholm Castle is open daily until September. Hjorthagen is open all year round.

The Session is the highest-level event globally around this issue where representatives of the member states and diverse stakeholders share the recognition and understanding that addressing the issue of “water and disasters” is a critical element of achieving sustainable development. The Session will focus on sharing experience and promoting actions to realize more sustainable, resilient and climate adaptive post-COVID-19 world based on the lessons learned from the Pandemic. It will also provide a concrete step towards acceleration of SDGs and other globally agreed agendas to be back on track under and post-COVID-19 by providing with useful lessons, innovative ideas, and common understandings.

On Friday 25 June Victoria spoke in connection with the opening ceremony of the United Nations' fifth thematic session on water-related disasters.
The UN thematic sessions on water-related disasters (STSWD) have been held every two years since 2013. This year's meeting was digital and the Victoria was one of the invited keynote speakers.
She said in her speech among other things:
"Almost three out of four natural disasters are water-related, like floods and drought. So the topic to be discussed today is, literally, a matter of life and death.
Disaster risk must not only be reduced; in order to cope with the growing number of climate-related disasters, we need to improve our ability to anticipate risk and take anticipatory action."

"Before the camp, I thought no one really liked me. I did not like myself. Then I noticed at camp that these people really like me, and they accept me for who I am. ”
So says Sara, one of the participants in the activities that Radiohjälpen supports where the Crown Princess is the patron. The Crown Princess, who has met both Sara and youth leader Johanna, comments on this year's focus on mental health:
"Many people are suffering from mental illness today, and the pandemic has not improved. It is very important that we talk about these issues, and work with them ".
At this year's Victoria Concert, you can contribute to the important work!
On July 14, we celebrate the Crown Princess' birthday through the traditional concert that broadcast on SVT. There are several ways to get involved and support children and young people with disabilities or chronic illness. This year, we pay special attention to the mental health of children and young people.

For many years, the "Våga va dig själv!!!" ("Dare to be yourself !!!") association has arranged summer camps for young people, to help them build a sense of self and dare to be themselves. More and more children and young people in Sweden are living with mental illness, and the pandemic has worsened the situation even more.
Through funds from the Crown Princess Victoria's Fund, Radiohjälpen has been able to support the association's camp activities. Join and meet some participants who tell what the camps have meant to them and how they themselves want to give back, to strengthen others.

Victoria had a full day in the Stockholm archipelago, together with her new workmate, dog Rio.
The first stop was Ålö and Båtshaket. The assignment focused on Victoria's heart question water, she wanted to know more about how the gang from Initiativ Utö worked to create and secure the unique aquatic environment in Södra Fladen's wetland.
Victoria was greeted with morning coffee on the pier (in Victoria's case always tea). The sun was shining and the sea was almost shiny and Rio hung on, with wet paws and a very happy tail.
Victoria was pleased with her day in the archipelago, thanked and said that this was so nice. She said it was wonderful to come here and listen to the work the people do. It is impressive that they are constantly exploring new areas and learning and also daring to try, Victoria said at Gruvbryggan on Utö a few hours later. She went to the boat with self-picked potatoes in her bag. The dinner at Haga was saved.

The court put finally today an article about Victoria's visit to the archipelago to its website.

The last Thursday in August is the Baltic Sea Day. Due to this, Victoria visited Initiative Utö to get information about the work the initiative does and to highlight the importance of protecting the Baltic Sea. She visited Utö and met representatives from Initiativ Utö and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences SLU.
Victoria landed on Ålö and was welcomed by the initiators of Initiative Utö Robert Cederlund and Thomas Hjelm.
At Båtshaket, she received information about Initiative Utö - history, purpose and goals as well as the efforts that the initiative makes.
After the initial conversation on Ålö, Victoria visited the wetlands of Southern Flanders. She was also given a tour of arable land prepared by the wetland where the local restaurants grow their vegetables.

Victoria said at her speech among other things:
Today, we celebrate the memory of a great man and his work. By acting against injustice and for human rights, Raoul Wallenberg earned his place in history. But the values he stood for – humanity and civil courage – are more than history: they are indeed highly relevant today.Today, we celebrate the memory of a great man and his work. Nina Lagergren – who was a dear friend of my family – lived a long and full life, passing away two years ago at the age of 98. If she had been alive, she would have turned 100 this year.
