As Charles and Camilla will be away in India and Sri Lanka at the time, query whether Victoria and Daniel might be received by William and Catherine instead.
 
Will they also meet and drink a Cup of tea with the Queen?

What is the protocol? It is not an official state visit - it is a trade visit: I would be surprised if they met any members of the royal family. IT is a very full 2 day programme for the CP couple, including a trip to Cambridge.
 
I hope that the court publishes a program of the visit on their website too.

On the 7th & 8th of November The Queen, DOE, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Princess Anne are busy. Prince Charles and Camilla are in India.
 
So William and Kate are free..They can atleast accompany them to an event or so..When Charles and Camilla visit Scandivania just to commemorate Diamond Jubilee, they were accompanied everywhere by the monarch-couples, or the heir couples at the least..Again as usual, when they are in UK, no one bothers..
I dont know how to perceive it.. Maybe its just that the Scandi royals have long back stopped to expect their BRF counterparts to reciprocate their "over-enthusiasm/affection"..

I would think that Victoria and Daniel may well be meeting with William and Catherine privately whilst in the UK on this trip.

The swedish royal court tells at the article of the visit on it's website, that Victoria and Daniel had a private meeting with queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace.
In the evening Victoria and Daniel attend at an Industry Forum at the swedish embassy, and the day ends at a dinner at the embassy.

I too think that the Scandinavian royals do not expect to have polite welcome from the parsimonious in all respects British royal family. I assume that it would have been possible for Earl and Countess of Wessex to free some time and greet Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel in London. As we know, they met on multiple occasions.

This seems like a short 2 day trade visit by the Crown Princess and her Husband. They were received by Her Majesty the Queen. Though I am sure most people would have liked William and Catherine to receive them (which would have occurred tomorrow since they had engagements today), I believe being received by the head of state is "better"(for lack of a better word) than being received by the second in line to the throne.
 
As much as I admire the BRF I find their "standoffishness" (is that a word?) puzzling. Do they feel they are better, or more important than other royal families?

They are certainly more famous, but I don't think they feel themselves are better than other Royal Families.

The thing with the British Royal Family is that duty will always come first. No member of the Family would cancel an engagement to meet the Swedish Crown Princely Couple.

And it wasn't a State Visit. They were received by The Queen, the Head of State. Nothing could be better than that.
 
Victoria is such a happy beautiful person and it shows in those photos. Glad they were received by Queen Elizabeth
 
I think it's lovely that the Queen received them and that is the most we should hope for. William and Catherine are not "heads of state" nor are they "working royals" so they have no real need to have meetings with foreign royals.

The only royals that Victoria and Daniel would know would be Edward and Sophie. We saw Edward and Sophie greet Daniel and Carl-Philip at the Olympic's last year, when William, Catherine and Harry all ignored them essentially.

The Queen met them privately, therefore more on a personal basis not as a Head of State.
 
Why would they appreciate meeting the queen? They have met her before, I am sure. And who cares. Victoria's father is a king. It is not that Elizabeth is something more special.

How about that they have respect for the Head of State; or that they know and like her; that she is busy and found the time for them. Perhaps they do care.
