Royal Cyphers, Coronets, Arms and Monograms

How awesome is Queen Margrethe that she creates all these monograms for her own family and the Norwegian Royal family?!!! She truly is a talented artist - I really like Ingrid Alexandra's new monogram. I've heard that Margrethe and Sonja are close personal friends, so maybe that is where the opportunity to create the Norwegian monograms came from.

A monogram of a member of the Russian Imperial Family.
It's the monogram of Catherine the Great, her name in russian starts with an e.

Louise

I think that Princess grace is the best but Pavlos and Marie chantal's is hideous,it is so terrible and Joachim's is also not that grand

In regards to the Danish monograms .... they're either curvy or angular.

I like the curvy ones better.

I love that monograms of Her Majesty the Queen 2 like as EII2 its SO neat! when i visit to England last year mostly police use that on coat and shirt beside of EII2 and cap also!

This monogram is not used in Scotland. When Elizabeth came to the throne she did so as Elizabeth the second despite the fact that she was only the second in England and not Scotland (or in fact any other country she is queen of.) When the EIIR started to appear in Scotland people defaced it and post boxes with it on were blown up. Today only the Scottish crown appears on post boxes , vans etc.

It's really intresting! F& P :)

I would love to see the monagrams for Marie-Chantal and Pavlos, for Alexia and Carlos, and of course for the younger greek royals Nikoloas, Theodora, and Philippos. Are there any for the younger ones? Are there any monograms for the older two couples that are other than their wedding day that can be read? The flowers are just slightly hard to understand.... or read!!

I see an M for Mathildhe, and a P for Phillippe or even an F for Filip. Other than that M for Mathildhe are the P and F both for Phillippe?

Very respective indeed...

Yes, both the P and the F are for Philippe, because his name is written in two ways, in Dutch and in French here in Belgium: the F for Filip (in Dutch) and the P for Philippe (in French).

Felipe and Letizia's is fairly plain. I do like it though. I love the F and L how they are right next to eachother and what not.

I know Princess Benedikte's and her daughter Princess Alexandra's (with her husband); what does Prince Richard's, Prince Gustav's and Princess Nathalie's Monograms look like?

Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip had a monogram for their wedding, but I couldn't find it. Can anyone help?

How are these monograms created? Are they self-created? Or is there a graphic design person who consults on the monograms? Thanks.

Graphic design - hardly. Cyphers and Royal arms are a matter of quite strict control of protocol departments. For example, in the United Kingdom, the College of Arms is the authority on the subject, with every arm, monogram and cypher having been registered there and the ability to researched there.

In the case of the Royal Danish cyphers, I understand that HM Queen Margarethe II designs them herself, and while this wouldn't exactly be a common occurance, there's no reason why, with a little consultation from the governing authorities on arms etc of that country, that every Royal could design their own (providing there wasn't already one in existence).
