Now that is what you call an entrance.

Both British & US military looking very smart. What a great honour (or should that be honor) for them.

The Queen is just awesome! I had begun to wonder if she was truly sunk low. No doubt she is grieving deeply. Yet she rises above it, puts on a red outfit and drops in by helicopter onto an aircraft carrier!

The Queen just can't stop amazing me. 95 years old, just lost her husband recently and still doesn't slow down. Much. I have to admit when the page was loading, the first words that came to my attention was Queen and helicopter and my mind flashed back HM being the "Bond Girl".

I have to admit to this. Every so often if I need a bit of a pick-me-up, I'll watch the Queen's "Bond Girl" entrance into the 2012 London Olympics. It showed me then and there that there is a quirky and humorous side to the Queen outside of her "regal game face". The Queen is not only iconic in and of herself but she sure knows how to make an iconic entrance too!

Does anyone know what events are planned for the Platinum Jubilee next June?
I know there's a concert, but what else?

In terms of the Platinum Jubilee celebration in 2nd - 5th June 2022, I haven't came across the actual events that have been planned/laid down in that period. I mostly read about commemoration, which has mostly been reported on local newspapers.

There is a thread dedicating to The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, in which I have just posted some new updates.

In a strange way since I live so far away and HM isn't really my queen, such events give me the feeling of constancy and "this, too, shall pass". At her age and her recent trials, it's very uplifting to see her always cheerfully dressed, always at her post.

No doubt HM is looking forward to meeting the new president. She's met them all apparently except for LBJ.

I think this will be a pleasant visit for everyone all around. The Bidens seem to be a very cordial couple. It's remarkable that the Queen has met every president (except LBJ) since her first one who was Harry Truman. Truman was president when I was born and I'm pushing 70. What a record!
