Yeah, they said it was cancelled but as soon as the Queen stepped onto the dais there was a "whoosh" that sounded like planes going overhead and HM and Ralph Klein looked up into the sky. Maybe it was an independant flypast. LOL
Humera, how do you make such excellent screen captures of these events? I have them all recorded off of Newsworld. Do you record them onto DVD and then capture them on your computer?

Thanks for all the great pictures HMQueenElizabethII, Humera & Mandyy!
Gosh, looking at the Queen's hat, you would think it was the middle of winter or something! Was it really that cold in Edmonton yesterday?
One nice thing I notice - the more it rains, the more the Queen smiles. As the CBC commentator kept saying, the Royal Couple really seemed relaxed and to be enjoying themselves. I guess they are not going to let this bad weather get the best of them.

It's in the 50s there at the moment (high temperature for the day). The whole western North America is having a much colder than usual spring.

This afternoon the Queen renamed the Alberta's provincial museum the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. She was welcomed by Premier Ralph Klein.
The huge mural with the picture of two children is made up of various pictures painted by Albertans and will be sent to Buckingham Palace after it has finished touring the province.

After renaming the museum, the Queen visited government house where she met with the Alberta Lieutanent Governor
She then arrived at the Alberta Legislature to make a speech from the throne.

While the Queen was inside a huge crowd was waiting for her outside at the back of the legislature. Some estimated the crowd to be 10,000 strong.
It looked like a beautiful day. I thought the legislature grounds seemed more like an amusement park, everyone seemed to be having lots of fun. There was even a cow in the crowd! And there was one group of people who brought their corgi dogs with them. As expected, the dogs caught the Queen's attention during her walkabout. I'll post those pics later.

Now for the pics of the walkabout...it was quite long but thoroughly enjoyable for both the crowd and the Queen so I have tons of caps.
