If Philip were not 99 years old the BRF would have said nothing, not even that he was in hospital. Its considered private but as things are, they are releasing as little actual information as possible.

The Palace didn't elaborate on Prince Philip's initial problem and only told us he was transported to another hospital because too many people knew. Their pithy comment about him undergoing a sucessful "procedure" and moving back to the private hospital was all they wrote.

So, while we pray for him to improve to the point of being well enough to come home and fully recouperate so he can really enjoy celebrating his century, we are still speculating that originally he was admitted for a respiratory or urinary infection with an underlying heart condition.

I like the privacy definition of showing somewone a photo on your cellphone and them saying I want to see what else is on there. You showed me a photo and that means I have the right to see them all. Not happening! He is in hospital, has undergone a sucessful procedure and that's all she wrote. Now Prince Philip would probably have said "mind your own bloody business"!

AFAIK they have always announced when he has health conditions that involve hospitalisation or surgery. He has had quite a few over teh past years and if they did not announce it, it woudl be bound to get out....

That probably makes him happy. He does not like a fuss over him

He will be stressed out and concerned though which will aggravate any pain/discomfort he probably feels and work is immune system.

He probably doesn’t like WHY though. He can’t possibly be happy about the Sussex mess.

Hopefully he’s recovering well and can go home soon.

At this point no news is almost as good as news. He is stable and though still needing treatment, he hasn't needed specialist treatment any more.

He had to have a heart procedure. As minor as it may have been, in someone's age that is still big. Its no surprise they are keeping him in to recover.

As Harry and Meghan have spoken to Philip and Elizabeth over the past year and none of it was a 'blindside', I doubt he was hit with a massive shock.

I doubt if he knows.. I get the feeling that Philip is a bit detached from things now, given his illness, being in hosptial and his great age....

I will be amazed if the Duke recovers from all of this. It just dawned on me how cyclic his illness is. He initially went in for a bladder infection and ended up with a heart procedure no doubt he has a Foley catheter in to monitor his urinary output- but that also puts him at risk for possibly having another bladder infection and of course the longer he remains in the hospital the more likely he is to get a hospital acquired (nosocomial infection). Poor Philip!

Not exactly an update, The Duke of Edinburgh remains in King Edward VII's hospital for recovery after having a heart surgery at St Bartholomew's. This is his longest hospital stay.

Prince Philip health update: Duke remains in private King Edward VII's hospital
The Duke, who had heart surgery at St Bartholomew's, has been in hospital since Februrary 16 - his longest stay

It stands to reason that Philip would be kept in the hospital until everything was given the "all clear" to go home again. They're probably monitoring every statistic in his blood work, his urine analysis and output and monitoring his heart. Any red flags at all would keep him there.

I'm going on 70 and my blood work is monitored and assessed frequently and it's something I've learned to follow myself to look for any warning signs that there is impending trouble.

I can imagine though that Philip is fit to be tied being made to remain in bed for this long of an extended period of time. I hope he's in good spirits.

"Increased police presence in the last hour or so outside the King Edward VII hospital in London where the Duke of Edinburgh is being treated. Prince Philip, 99, has been in hospital for a month."

I wonder if that means The Duke of Edinburgh is going to be discharge from the hospital? At the same time Philip would hate how the press are getting so close to him, especially after he had to be shielded from umbrellas whilst being transferred into an ambulance.

A sick elderly man is hopefully being discharged. Look at the media trying to get a Money shot. I really can’t roll my eyes enough.

I can see being concerned and wanting to know what is going on but good grief! Give the man a semblance of privacy and consideration. I'm hoping this is good news and Philip is on his way home (or actually home) now.

I guess they want the shot to "prove" he's well enough to reach his 100th birthday or claim the opposite.

Hopefully he is well enough to be discharged.

"BREAKING: It appears the Duke of Edinburgh has left hospital - 4 weeks after being admitted.
He walked to a car at the rear of the King Edward VII hospital and was driven away.
We await a formal statement from Buckingham Palace"

And... the man walked to his car. I can picture it in my mind. Philip, ramrod straight back and in full control of all his steam, flew the coop and went home! Probably muttering under his breath, "Thank God that's over!"
