I don't think Andrew rides anymore - he has never appeared to have been a big fan. His daughters have also rarely been seen on horseback. Edward and Anne still ride so it was nice to see them in the parade and of course Zara rides as does Louise.

I loved seeing Anne, Zara, Edward and Louise in the parade. What a nice little touch from them.
 
What an enjoyable event, such a thoughtful and fitting tribute to HM who appeared to be enjoying the occasion. I think all of the family were there which was lovely to see.

For anyone in Australia - I believe Channel Seven are showing this (or some other tribute to the Queen) on Thursday night. Something to look forward to.
 
What an amazing show and brilliant idea to show case QE's love for horses. Nice to see Lady Louise in the show. Wonderful representation of Canada. Never tire of seeing the Mounties
 
Queen's 90th birthday celebrated with gala concert and 900 horses
Anyone who has ever had to think of a 90th birthday gift knows just how tricky it can be to find something appropriate, but when it comes to the Queen the answer is simple: whatever it is, just make sure it includes lots and lots of horses.

No matter what gifts she receives from monarchs, presidents and world leaders this year, none will top the spectacular equine pageant staged for Her Majesty in the grounds of Windsor Castle last night, as the smile on her face clearly showed.

Accompanied by her family, the Queen was treated to a two-hour gallop through the key events of her life, told by 900 horses, 1,500 performers and plenty of famous faces.

It was the closest thing the Queen has ever had to an appearance on This Is Your Life, a reminder that our sovereign has not only clocked up a record-breaking reign, but has been a first-hand witness to some of the most momentous events of the past century.

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, arrived in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, to a huge cheer from the arena, and chose a sea green dress with a lace overlay and a matching jacket, all made by her dressmaker Angela Kelly, with a turquoise diamond surround brooch.

Lovely to see members of the BRF on horseback tonight celebrating HM the Queen. Spectacular photos and quite a number of stars there to entertain everyone.

Yes Macrobug I'm partial to those red tunic clad Mounties too!!!

Her smile said it all last night. The Queen must have seen more horseflesh than almost anyone alive yet even she can seldom have seen a line-up like the cast of yesterday’s equestrian spectacular in honour of her 90th birthday.

More than 900 horses had been assembled in Windsor Home Park for this musical tableau of the monarch’s life in front of the entire Royal Family, more than 7,000 spectators and a live ITV audience.

The most experienced old hands from the horse show world – and there were plenty in this crowd – were struggling to think of the last time this many horses had turned out on parade in honour of the Queen.

If the Queen has been the constant thread running through the life of this nation for as long as most people can remember, then horses have been the constant thread running through hers.

She arrived in a carriage, alongside the Duke of Edinburgh and escorted by the Household Cavalry. There to greet her was the evening’s official host, the Prince of Wales, while the younger generations watched from a packed Royal Box.

Then it was over to the evening’s other hosts, ITV’s Ant & Dec and a show which veered from high pageantry to 21st century carnival. As the military bands marched off one moment, Gary Barlow struck up next and a squadron of red, white and blue racing cars shot in to the arena.

Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter – Carson as was – took us through the Queen’s childhood. Starting with a boisterous contingent from the Pony Club, the music and displays followed the full span of her life, culminating in a magnificent presentation of all the Queen’s horses – from her show ponies and polo ponies to her racehorses, the Household Cavalry and even the Duke of Edinburgh’s carriage driving team.

Her birthday celebrations conclude next month with a Service of Thanksgiving, Trooping the Colour and a giant street party in London.

Before that, however, she – and her Household Cavalry – are back on parade again this week. Much as she will no doubt be looking forward to another State Opening of Parliament, I suspect last night’s events will remain etched in the royal mind for rather longer.

I just realized that the horse Zara is riding for the celebration is her beloved Toytown. It must have been so special for her to have him in the celebration of her grandmother.
 
I love Toytown. I'm still sad that he missed both the 2004 and 2008 olympics due to injury. He's the perfect horse for this type of show because Zara always said he loved crowds.

I also noticed that Louise had a Diamond Jubilee Medal on.

I liked that Louise was allowed to ride the Queen's pony Emma. :)
 
I missed yesterday's event, but it was lovely to see the "surprise" Anne, louise, Edward and Zara? made for the queen.
 
Camilla looked absolutely fabulous in combination with those amazing pearls. I am amazed the King of Bahrain, whom brutally opposed internal opposition à la methode Assad, is such a honoured guest.... Kudos for the Queen and the Duke to endure both the temperatures as well the show...

Interesting to read that the State Landau had a Keppel history. When Charles and Camilla visits the Netherlands, it would be nice to include a visit to Keppel Castle or Voorst House in their program. Camilla's Keppel ancestors were Earls of Albemarle, Viscounts of Bury and Barons Ashford in the UK and were Lords of Keppel, of Voorst and of Acquoy in the Netherlands. Acquoy Castle was blown up in 1672 in order of King Louis XIV in revenge on King William III.

Appearantly they are the main financers of the Windsor Horse show....
 
Edward, Louise and Ann are all riding in a double bridle too, great to see that! (the horse people will understand).
