It's possible that the court may still ask some people to testify again to obtain further information or evidence. Once this process is over it's up to the court (judge) to begin charging people.
This is merely speculation on my part, but considering the information being leaked to the papers I fully expect Urgandarin to be charged. What criminal charges, I don't know.

In such a poor Country as Spain it is a shame the the King’s son in law stole millions of euros of public money.
Very Bad for King Juan Carlos and Infant Felipe.

It's a shame that they may pay for something they had nothing to do with.

Jaume Matas, the former regional head of government of Spain's Balearic Islands has been jailed for corruption. The verdict is part of a wider scandal that has also seen the king's son-in-law, Inaki Urdangarin, testify in court.

El Pais is one of the most respected newspapers in the world. Together with The Guardian, New York Times, Le Monde and Der Spiegel it won last year's International Press Freedom Award for its coverage of the Wikileaks.
Unfortunately there have been plenty of leaks about the Urdandaring affair - El Pais rarely reports "unfounded" ones.

Many thanks for that, Alondra.
Then it certainly doesn't look good at all for Inaki.

La Casa del Rey gives 'green light' to Telefonica to dismiss Inaki Urdangarín
La Casa del Rey da 'luz verde' a Alierta para despedir a Urdangarín de Telefónica - elConfidencial.com
Telefonica is in an awkward position, since the link with Inaki harms the company's image. The King placed him there, with his friend Cesar Alierta, and out of courtesy would need to give his ok to remove him. In this case, Inaki would resign "for personal reasons".
However, he wont go without a lot of money: there will be a hefty compensation for Inaki, who earns nearly 1.4 million Euros per year. His position was renewed, after 5 years, until 2016, even though the allegations against him had already surfaced.
When reading this, its clear why the reputation of the Royal House will suffer, not only did they send him to Washington for a "golden job" (what part of his CV qualifies him to earn such a salary) when the irregularities started to surface, they continue to this very day to protect him, the last act will eventually be providing him with a golden handshake.
The King is rich enough to provide for his daughter & her family, but no, why not let the Telefonica shareholders pay for this whole mess.

Pretty awful, and as I've said previously, the whole Telefonica part of this calls the King's judgement into question.
If I were a shareholder in Telefonica I'd be pretty annoyed. Inaki is earning an enormous salary, is harming the image of the company and yet they need some sort of permission from the King to remove him? Was Inaki qualified for this job to begin with?

The whole telefonica package is really embarrassing with little dignity. We all got jobs through connections, but this job went overboard by a mile IMO. If JC wants her daughter and grand kids to live like a millionaire, pay from his own pocket. 'Like father, like daughter', IMO Cristina is truly her Daddy's daughter, only less smart or savvy .

Truly, I don't think the telefonica package is particularly embarrasing. We are talking about a global multi-billion dollar company where $200,000 a year (more or less what Urdangarin likely gets) is peanuts for the company.
Companies this size spend millions a year in PR programs. JC may have used his influence to get Urdangarin a job there but frankly, as a private multinational it was a decision for their board to take and their shareholders to question. No public moneys involved.
I do think however that JC has made a few mistakes in this whole saga - trying to protect his daughter being the most important one. I think he tried hard to balance his duty as King and father......and failed. He should had cut loose Cristina and her husband long ago but.........we parents make mistakes.
I think (at least I hope so) that he's finally realised how much damage "those two" have inflicted on his hard earned committment and work to Spain and the remarkable effort the Asturias are doing today.
The fact his son in law is facing criminal charges while his daughter is considered almost a pariah these days, is a credit to a healthy democracy in Spain. A democracy Juan Carlos helped create and build up.

Well said Alondra and I agree «*we parents make mistakes*» . HM is suffering about all this , his health problems are difficult to accept and suddenly he looks 10 years older.

It's embarrassing due to the fact that the SIL was/is under investigation for wrong doing. Had that not been the case it wouldn't be embarrassing at all

If it were only $200,000 per year, nobody would have said anything. The 2010 tax return shows it was 1.4 mil in 2010, thus some shareholders of Telefonica had words on it. Even Inaki hadn't been investigated on his possible criminal activities, what talents does he have to deserve 1.4 mil per year in Telefonica ? So can't steal public money, but OK to steal private money ? LOL. Yes, the Telefonica package is truely embarrassing with little dignity on JC's side. I think his daughters are his weakness, he just lost his head.

Question. Does anyone know the actual "time line" of all this. I remember a long time ago that Letizia was called awful names for not being so "close" to her sister-in-law and Inaki and that it was all her fault because Cristina was the darling of the Spanish people. Was Letizia the fall-guy in all that or was that just a made up story to cover this situation between the Royal Family and Inaki [which was already known to the King]? Or, was the hatred of Letizia by many on this forum a separate issue. All this started well before I joined the Royal Forums and I could never understand completely.

Cristina had been seen pretty nude towards Letizia when she, Elena, Sofia and Letizia went to a concert together in the fall of 2006, right after the Balearic financial scandal that also involved Inaki's business, the rumors of bad relation are getting worse and worse year after year.
.
JC had tried all he could to keep the press quiet on Inaki's business problem for 6 long years, nobody knew Cristina was a board member, her secretary was a treasurer of Noos until last fall. Between his own daughter/Inaki's business scandal and Letizia, I think he probably didn't mind to use Letizia as a scapegoat in order to protect the reputation of monarchy and his own daughter as long as nobody brought up Inaki's business.
Now the press said that the infantas' camp in Zarzuela had been spreading rumors on the bad relation and blaming on Letizia. Now I think the secretary of the infantas seems to be a very 'good' PR person, some false images of Cristina and Inaki had been his successful campaign and making cheap shots at others (ex. Letizia, Jaime). Elena's ex Jaime really hated him since Jaimed claimed that the secretary had done some negative campaigns against him especially after the separation.
