The Countess of Wessex is to make the first official royal visit to #Lebanon at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Buckingham Palace has announced.

During the visit, Sophie will meet Syrian women, including refugees displaced to Lebanon by the Syrian conflict; women striving to participate in peace-making efforts at a local and national level; and UK supported NGOs addressing sexual and gender based violence in the region.

Can somebody please change the title, as we can see Sophie arrived in Lebanon yesterday and visited a tented community in Bekaa Village this morning.

Security reasons were behind the no date.

I did wonder why Sophie’s diary was blank for this week. Now it all makes sense.

Great to see Sophie visiting this country and highlighting these controversial but extremely important issues.

The Countess of Wessex continued her visit today, June 13, and met with Saad Hariri, Prime Minster of Lebanon in Beirut, Lebanon.

Might this be another example of how the government uses a relatively junior member of the BRF to test the waters in an evolving geopolitical situation?

Great to see the photos of Sophie on her Lebanon visit so far. She always does a wonderful job with tours.
