Andrew was named after his grandfathers and great great great grandfathers. Andrew after Prince Andrew of Greece, Albert after King George VI, Christen after Christian of Denmark and Edward after King Edward.

Thank you for this, fergalicious. That dress suited Sarah very well. They liked their women curvy back then.

I think that picture was taken during their Canadian tour in 1987. I wish I wasn't too young at the time to remember it. I would love it if Prince Andrew did another tour of Canada.

Some of you might have watched this before, but I thought I should share it here, on the occasion of Prince Andrew's birthday:
I find it extremely relaxing and funny! Andrew, Sarah, Anne & Edward showing us a lighter side and they all seem to enjoy it.

At the time this event was considered a real low point for the royal family.

True, but compared to what one of them did later - and until recently - that's a truly 'regal' moment.

Anne seemed to be the last person I could imagine taking part in this! It was considered such an awful thing for the young royals to do; but really, what was the harm in the long-term? I think that the Windsor 'brand' was more badly effected by the War of the Waleses, especially those leaked phone conversations, HER TRUE STORY and Charles' reply via Dimbleby. The "Knockout" episode was silly, but it did raise good money for charity.

I always thought it was funny and did no real harm. Although Edward storming out of the press conference was bad manners. Sarah, Andrew and Anne all seemed to enjoy themselves and the money went to good causes. The Queen must have approved it or it wouldn't have happened.

I stumbled across this old article about Sarah's book "Moments".
I love the photos of Andrew and Eugenie. I'm sure Eugenie will really treasure them in the future.
