Thanks for the pics everyone. Does anyone know why this was done at their residence? Has that been done before?

Yes it was in their house. Before the trip to Mexico last year, also they had a meeting in their house to prepare the trip. They were two acts at first private, but that for the interest the Royal House decided to give some images.
The Prince and the Princess work between the palace and their house, some lunchs and private meetings are done in their house.

This foundation, as the Prince of Asturias Foundation or the Prize Prince of Viana, they are beyond being linked to a person, are linked to the title and the history and they have projection of future, they cannot be changing the name of the foundations depending on the moment (prince, princess, princes).
The creation of this foundation has a lot of political and historical importance, because there did not exist an institution that was linking directly the prince of Girona with Girona, and it will be useful to reinforce the image of the Prince in Catalonia, that is a very difficult territory. In addition, it is born in a moment in the one that is very necessary to give support to the youth in order that they obtain a good formation, because the unemployment is every time a major problem..

thanks lula, does this mean that these foundations will remain as they are even though there will be a "princess of asturias" etc at some point in the future (leonor)?

I have not understood well your question Duke, so I give you two possible answers.
These institutions are born linked to the title, are not only for the Prince Felipe, they want that they last with his successor.
With the arrival of the Princess and Leonor's birth the idea has appeared of if would be necessary to change into a future the name of the Prince of Asturias Foundation ... but for the own prestige that already has the name and for the complicated thing that would be to do the changes, the most probable thing is that it remains like it is, at least for enough years.

Yes that was my question whether the name of the foundations (Prince of Asturias, Prince of Girona etc) will be changed once they will be headed by a female heiress, Leonor Princess of Asturias. Altough I understand that there is already prestige and history to the name, it would be a strange gesture not to reflect the gender of the heir / heiress, especially in case the constitution will finally be changed.

I think the name of the foundation will be the same even if Leonor becomes Queen of Spain, she may just have her own foundation like her grandma Queen Sofia Foundation. It will be more complex if they will change the names of the foundations every time there is a change in sex of the heir/heiress. If the constitution has been amended and Felipe becomes King, it will be more complex to change the name because Leonor is now the future Queen. And in the future if Leonor is Queen and she had a son, the current Princess of Asturias will again be changed to Prince of Asturias...This would be tiring...
