La Reina realizará su primer viaje de cooperación después de la Primera Comunión de la princesa Leonor y de las elecciones municipales

Queen Letizia will take over from Queen Sofia and will do her first Co-operation trip after the First Communion of Princess Leonor, which will take place during the second half May, and municipal and regional elections scheduled for May 24.

To what country Queen Letizia will be travelling is still to be confirmed as well as the exact date.

Queen Sofia has made 29 trips cooperation over the past nineteen years. These visits have been destined different countries, mainly from Latin America, Africa and Asia.

According to diezminutos, she will travel to a country in Cental America.
 
That is great news and it would be great to see Letizia on such trips.

Diplomatic Information Office has issued the following statement:

Her Majesty the Queen will make a cooperation trip to Honduras and El Salvador from May 25 to 29.

Honduras and El Salvador are two priority countries for Spanish cooperation. Her Majesty the Queen will have opportunity to see first hand the various projects developed by the Spanish cooperation in areas such as water and sanitation, education, technical training, gender, fight against impunity and violence and promotion of historical and cultural heritage, both in capitals and in various localities of the two countries.

Spain's Queen Letizia arrives in El Salvador to visit co-operation projects

Wednesday

- Visit La Casa de las Mujeres in Suchitoto, a center promoting gender equality, providing counselling and assistance to domestic violence victims, and developing programs to strengthen the capacities of women and their organizations.

- Queen Letizia will be received by Mayor Pedrina Rivera at the town hall of Suchitoto, the country's oldest colonial settlement, and will also visit the municipal market and the Santa Lucia Church, both restored with funding from Spain.

- Visit to a family health center in the municipality of Jiquilisco which treats patients with chronic kidney failure

- Visit to water and sanitation facilities for the Isla de Mendez.

Thursday

- Visit to the Technical Cooperation Office in San Salvador

- Visit to art and culture center "La Casa Tomada".

- Meeting with Salvadoran President Sanchez Ceren and lunch

Once again the press is all about her appearance and clothes, not about her work there... pity but predictable...
 
I'm impressed that Spain is sponsoring the restoration work at the colonial era sites considering it is facing its own economic concerns at this point in time.

Thanks for all the info, pics and videos.

Seems like it has been a very succesful trip for Queen Letizia. She looked very commited on the videos and it's great to see the warm welcoming she has received on every place she has visited.
 
i find it rather odd that spain, given it's precarious current economic climate, supports initiatives outside the country as if they we are still the first world nation we thought we once were. not only that, but to give letizia a paid trip to see the progress of government funded initiatives seems rather luxurious in a country with 40% unemployment.
