Princess Letizia Named "Honorary Citizen" of Ribadsella: December 5, 2007
Tomorrow it will be an important day for the princess: she will receive this title and she will inaugurate a promenade named like her!
let's put all pics, articles, news, videos in this special thread!!
PS: the last time the crown couple went to Asturias they said that they will be back with their daughters: do you think leonor and sofia will take part to this trip????

It would be THE BEST to see Sofi and Leonor, I can't wait to see them again!
Does anybody know how long will they be in Asturias?, because if it is a short visit I don't think they'll take the girls with them.. we'll just have to keep waiting!

The Princes of Asturias will visit Ribadesella later, where the grandmother of the Princess resides. The inauguration of the walk of the port, which Ribadesella baptized with the name of the Princess and her appointment as adopted child of the villa, they will be the principal acts of the visit.

I have my doubts on the possibility that the girls travel with their parents.
The girls are very young yet. The Princes have a congress in Gijon at 10.30, and later they travel to Ribadesella for the act that begins the 13.00. This previous act in Gijon complicates the things in order that the Princes could organize with the girls, specially with the safety topics and others. They should have the girls in another place and with someone who takes care of them.
On the other hand it is a good opportunity because they have 4 days of rest.

Well I was watching "a 3 bandas" a spanish tv program, but I caught what they were saying a bit late, I only heard the host saying that everyone was looking forward to see the picture of the Princes of Asturias with their two girls in Asturias, Im pretty sure they said that. I don't know if it is because they are actually going or because everyone was expecting to see the girls and we finally won't. We'll have to wait and see. :)

I believe that often it is more a desire of the press than another thing, to mix the official acts with the visit of the girls always it is going to be a problem.
I read in a local newspaper that the Princes have foreseen to return to Madrid after the today acts, so it seems that the visit will be brief.

I never thought the Princes would bring Leonor and Sofia. They will be too busy mingling with the officials and public, no time for the girls.
500 people will have lunch with the Princes, looks like an early Christmas lunch for the lucky ones. Must be a fun event.

I don't believe they will bring the girls along either. It's Letizia's event and the presence of the girls would take the focus completely off topic. Would be great though if there was another occasion in the near future (official or private) to take the girls to Asturias and show them in public.
On another note, isn't this the event that Zarzuela did not want to approve for a long time? I might be wrong but I recall something like that. I understand that Asturian people want to see the Princes and since they don't go often to Asturias it's a nice opportunity but somehow I find this event a bit far fetched. I perfectly understood the Favourite Daughter of Oviedo since Letizia was born there but don't really get the issue with Ribadsella. Just because her grandparents live and she spent her summer vacations there Letizia is being made an adoptive daughter and a walk is being named after her? Sure it's a nice gesture but somehow I have the feeling that some clever guys in the city council finally succeded in taking a golden opportunity to put their village on the tourist map and make some more €€€ thanks to their new adoptive daughter

Duke, it is evident, but also it is evident that the members of the Royal Family have theatres, hospitals ... with their name in many cities and villages, with which often they do not have any link, and that they are in the habit of inaugurating. The Princess, being a journalist, already had taken charge giving the proclamation of Ribadesella's parties, for what before her wedding already she was a local celebrity there.
I do not believe that Zarzuela had problems with the Title of Adopted Daughter, since it did not have them with the Title of Favorite Daughter of Oviedo (granted before the wedding). What happens is that the Zarzuela has been late in giving her own agenda to the Princess, and for this circumstance till now it was difficult to give place to these acts. Probably they were thinking that it was too soon for honorings.

Doña Letizia recibe el título de hija adoptiva de Ribadesella
Dona Letizia receives the title of adopted daughter of Ribadesella
The Princess of Asturias has demonstrated today that she shares with Ribadesella " sleeplessnesses, achievements and illusions in favor of the major progress and well-being " of this council that today has delivered her the title of "Adopted daughter". " I am riosellana of heart ", has said moved Dona Letizia after receiving the parchment made by the nuns of San Pelayo's Monastery of Oviedo that grants the honorific title to her.
The president of the Asturias, Vicente Álvarez Areces, has indicated in this act that the Wreath " is a responsible institution of the democratic system " and there appeared the pride of this autonomous community of which is " Asturiana", the Princess, " the one that assumes the continuity of the institution ".
Hundreds of persons and a group of pipers have received today the Princes of Asturias in Maria Cristina Square of Ribadesella, city that grants the title of "Adopted daughter " to Dona Letizia.

Thanks for the info and pics so far. I can't wait to see the rest of it. Were Felipe and Letizia in Gijon this morning and coming to Ribadesella later today? Letizia looks good with the curly hair again, I love it.
