The Princes of Asturias arrived this afternoon in Palma, where they will start on Monday an official visit of five days through the Independent Community, in what should be their first trip, after the announcement of Doña Letizia’s pregnancy.
The House of the King announced today that the Princes of Asturias are expecting the birth of their first child, next November.
Don Felipe and his wife arrived at the Military Base of Son Sant Joan shortly after 6:35 p.m., and travelled by car to the palace of Son Vent, within the complex of Marivent, the Royal Family’s Summer residence in Mallorca.
The Princes of Asturias travelled in a grey car, driven by Don Felipe, until the Palace of Marivent, where several tens of journalists waited them, to take the first photos of the couple, after the pregnancy announcement. Doña Letizia lowered then the window of the car to greet the media, before the vehicle entered the palace.
Tonight, the Princes of Asturias will have a private dinner with the president of the Balearic Govern, Jaume Matas, who expressed his joy for the citizens of the Islands being the first ones to celebrate and share this magnificent news with the couple.
Tomorrow, they will start their official visit to Balearic at 10:00 a.m., the first one they’re making to an Independent Community, with a full schedule of acts, that will allow them to cross all the islands during five days.

Thanks Elsa! I think it is nice how she rolled down her window to wave where as some people would just drive by. Also I think they look so happy. You can tell their smiles are very genuine.

Felipe de Borbón thanked the congratulations received for the pregnancy of Letizia Ortiz. "We can not hide the happiness that we feel for our first child", said the heir at the beginning of his speech.
The couple started the trip to Balears, their first official visit to an independent community, where they were received by its president, Jaume Matas. Matas congratulated the Princes and underlined the "touching coincidence" that the announcement agreed with their trip to Balears, the place where the Royal Family traditionally spends the Summer vacations.
While all the glances were fixed at the silhouette of the Princess, who seems have undergone a little change, Felipe de Borbón expressed that, with this future birth, "our desires to form a family are accomplished". The heir added that the arrival of his first child "will reinforce the stability and the institutional continuity for the best service to the Spanish Monarchy".
The baby, who will be born next November, will be the second in line, after his father, and will receive the title of Infante or Infanta of Spain. The announcement reopens the debate about the reform of the Constitution that establishes the preference of men over women, in the succession line.
Agenda of today
The Princes arrived at 10:00 a.m. at the Consolat le la Mar, the Balearic headquarters of the government, where an official reception was hosted, and, afterwards, they went to the City Hall of Palm. At 12:15 p.m., the Heir will meet the Council of Government, before attending, along with his wife, to a lunch offered by the Balearic Executive in a palmesean hotel. In the evening, they will visit the headquarters of the Council of Mallorca and the School of Hostelries, where they will have dinner with tourist businessmen of the Island.
The visit will last until next Friday, May 13th, and will allow the Princes to acknowledge the political, social, economic and cultural situation of all the Balearic Islands.
