Prince & Princess of Asturias's Official Visit to Balearic Islands: May 9-13, 2005

The Princes of Asturias visited today the Agrarian Transformation Society of Esplet, at the village of Sa Pobla, where they could observe the potato production that's commercialized under the label Patata Bona-Mallorca. TRH also visited a typical market of Balears, where shoes were exhibited, as well as ensaimada, jam, peppers, onion, potatoes, espinagadas of vegetable and fish, dry fruits, etc. Doña Letizia Ortiz tasted some almonds.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia left the building at 2:30 p.m., when they greeted the more than 500 people, who were waiting them for more than two hours, under an intense sun and a temperature of 31 Celsius degrees.

During 20 minutes, the Princes were giving the hand and kissing these neighbours of Sa Pobla, among them numerous young people congratulating TRH for their future baby and shouting in unison the name of Felipe and Letizia.

Besides, a group of children and adolescents shouted “handsome Letizia” and “Letizia nice aunt” on many occasions. The Princes also received several gifts, like a picture of the couple, a small wood bank and a wine bottle.

i look pictures today about Crown Prince Felipe alone today for unveil without wife the Princess Letizia im sure she would feel better soon but she would rest.

mostly pregnant mother always get rest all the times and no hurry when my cousin got lay on the bed she need to rest because she pregnant i understand.

No, I didn't put "zzzzzzz" . If you pay attention, there's a sequence I follow, in order to organize things on my PC. But anyway, as Anna pointed out, this is a personal decision and I really don't see a point of asking such question, since the pictures end up being posted, with their names changed or not

With the people of Spain thrilled by the news their future queen is to become a mother, Crown Princess Letizia and her husband Felipe have been receiving a rapturous welcome on a trip to the Balearics.

The couple, who announced their happy news on Sunday, were greeted by large crowds of excited well-wishers when they arrived in the Majorcan capital of Palma. A 19-gun salute rang out over the Mediterranean as the royal visitors were welcomed to the island by local officials and dignitaries.

Letizia, who is three months along, was looking radiant in a pink jacket and unusual silk skirt. Asked how things were going so far, the former newsreader confessed that it hadn't all been plain sailing. "I have the usual discomforts that any pregnant woman gets, " she explained.

Her statuesque prince could barely contain his joy. "We can't hide the happiness we feel about our first child," he told reporters. And when one local journalist asked whether he and his wife were hoping for a boy or a girl, the crown prince insisted it made no difference whatsoever. "It doesn't matter," he affirmed. "We're going to love it just as much either way."

Inevitably, the pair were also queried about their views on rumoured changes to the Spain's male-dominated rules of accession in order to make the eldest child first in line regardless of their sex. Felipe didn't seem too worried about the issue, though, pointing out that a few years would have to pass before it became a pressing concern. "There's another generation in between so there's plenty of time," the future king reminded the curious.

The Princes of Asturias had lunch today with sportsmen, musicians, designers, plastic artists and young businessmen of the islands. The Hotel Formentor, an establishment located in the North coast of Mallorca, in one of the most beautiful and calm places of the island, was the scene of this meeting of the Princes with the most creative, mighty and fighter Balearic youth.

It was an informal meeting, during which the Princes managed to create the propitious climate to talk, without hardly protocol, and in which Don Felipe and Doña Letizia interchanged impressions with men and women of their generation.

Before travelling to Formentor, the Princes had visited the agricultural cooperative of Esplet, in Sa Pobla, and had met in Inca businessmen and trade union representatives, to whom Don Felipe transmitted his confidence in overcoming the problems they are facing.

It's really funny how everyone wants to hand Letizia their babies to hold! Before she became pregnant it was so that the baby would rub off on her and she would become pregnant; now it's for practice! But she seems to not mind and beams everytime she is around babies and children!
