Princess of Asturias prepares to return to the normal life

For most people, maternity is source of beauty and the truth is that, judging by the last images of the Princess of Asturias, on the occasion of Infant Leonor’s baptism, it seems those are right. Last Saturday 14th Doña Letizia glowed, probably like never before. Her attractive figure, adorned with a subtle make-up and a smooth hair (a bit blonder and longer than the usual) shone very intensely. With her little daughter in her arms, Princess Letizia emanated an enormous enchantment, certainly fruit of an overflowing happiness. In addition to this new light in the glance of the Princess, her figure, totally recovered since hardly a month after giving birth (to the great envy of most women who have experienced being mothers) had also contributed to such a radiating image.

This way, a new splendid Letizia is prepared to reassume, three months after her maternal leave, her official agenda.

The last acts without Doña Letizia
Prince Felipe will be one of the godparents of the first-born of Princes Federick and Mary of Denmark, but he won’t attend the ceremony, due to work reasons, since it agrees with an official trip to Latin America. Don Felipe has sent a message to his good friend the Danish Heir, to excuse his and the Princess’ absence.
Next weekend, the Prince will fly to Bolivia and Honduras, in order to attend the swearing-in ceremonies of the new elected presidents and will also make a brief courtesy visit to El Salvador, since he couldn’t attend the investiture of the Salvadoran head of the Executive, in June of 2004, as he was in honeymoon.

Although the Princess will not accompany Don Felipe in this trip - his second travel abroad, after travelling this week to Kuwait, to give his condolences for the death of the Emir -, everything seems to indicate that she will do so, for the next time. In such case, the awaited return of Princess Letizia after the birth of Infanta Leonor would take place next February 8th, for the inauguration of the new Cervantes Institute in Sofia (Bulgaria).

Letizia Ortiz continues with its "maternal" confinement in the Zarzuela: prince travels single to America

In Zarzuela considered possibility that Letizia Ortiz accompanied this time to its husband, in the trip that finishes initiating to Bolivia, El Salvador and Honduras, to attend takings of possession of presidents. Everything was to expenses if the princess of Asturias it could move away already, at least by a brief time, of its daughter, on the verge of turning the three months. In the end it has not been possible: Letizia Ortiz follows slope of infant Leonor, which forces to him to continue with its "maternal" confinement in the Zarzuela. The princess continues without appearing in the programming of acts of the Royal Family.

I do not understand this type of articles with certain critical sense.
It is evident that Leonor could not do this trip. A trip of 1 week, with many hours of plane, several changes of schedules and radical changes of climate (winter / summer). If for an adult it is difficult, more for a baby.
Another option is that Letizia had gone and had left alone the girl 1 week. Leonor is too small to be separated from her mother so much time, more if till now she was she who was feeding her.
It seems that the one who writes these articles, criticizes for criticizing without thinking before.

Besides, they do not seem to be informed well. Today Mari Ángeles Alcazar has commented in television that possibly Letizia already should come to an act on January 31 in Barcelona, exactly 3 months after Leonor's birth. Last this week the same journalist was the one that commented that it would be the 8th in Bulgaria, but probably this it is her firstly trip out of Spain not her first act. There will be necessary to wait to Friday to see the agenda in the web.;)

Those articles annoys me, what if she wants to be with her baby girl more time. What if she wants to be with her at least 6 months. She is in her own right to decide how long she wants to extend her manternity and she shouldnt be pressure by the press not even by la zarzuela. It is a decision between her and Felipe. Just a mother can tell how difficult it is to leave their own child to go to work and Letizia's is much more stressing than many other jobs. She doesnt have an 8 to 5 job. Sometimes she has many trips to do, lots of innaugurations, lots of things that will require many of her time away from home. So better stay as longer as possible next to Leonor.

A lot of corporate moms have to be on the planes doing longer trips before two and a half months of gave birth, Mary has returned already to her duties on land kind of part time and Letizia haven't even go to one single event in Spain since Leonor's birth. How come she have time to eat on restaurants (Lanzarote with the The Grecia and Madrid on Iñaki's birthday) and spend time waking on Lanzarote, with no worries or hurries?, I'm not saying she have to be confinated or that she will go on this trip because is too much and I underestand that but she can spend a couple of hours with Felipe on a presentation in Spain and return home to Leonor.

You are talking about a princess that happen to have nannies and one of the motive is because they have dutties to the people who pay their roof with their taxes, remember that this family returned from the exile poors and with the years they have become richest and richest, the people doesn't pay nanies for them to spend a nicer night but to have a person to take care of their kids and in Spain a lot of people are cabreados or mad with this Monarchy and specially with this couple that maybe won't pass the death of Juan Carlos test because Felipe is not as popular as his father and Letizia is yet less popular than Felipe, don't pay attention only to the magazines because they only believe in fairy tales that happens to sell, well, those magazines still believe that in Greece they have monarchies when the people choose the republic long time ago, go figure. I don't recalled Cristina spending that much of the time at home that's why she have nanies, so you ask what if? I tell you what, she's not in Palacio to do whatever she wants to do, she have responsabilities and representations duties and she better do it and do it fast because they are to earn that throne yet, the Spanish Monarchie is new and weak yet, we are not talking here about the Danish monarchie who have their ancestors on the vikings not the England Monarchie, the Borbon's monarchie is a young one and there is a say in Spain that they have a King being republicans at heart and another one that says that they are Juancarlist not Felipist, so she cannot be six month taking care of Leonor because she's not Paris Hilton (who I detest) but she's rich and is not a public person and the womans on Spain doesn't have that luxury, period, as simple as that. You are not talking about a mom who have to go to work when the baby is one month old, put it on a day care, pay for an after school and get home at 6 pm after a long day, tired and stressed to prepare the food for the whole family because maybe her wallet doen'st allow a take out on that week. What's the big deal in go out to a recepcion on the best and confortable cars ever, wearing clothes you didn't watch your wallet to buy, having a hairdresser on your own house to your convinience and after three of four hours ussually seated (because she doesn't have an agenda yet and therefore she doesn't have speeches to prepared or anything else but be a presence) get to your huge full of maids house and maybe even get a nice massage?. C'mon people, we are talking here about princeses and princes, not about comun normal people, they have everything you can think of to make their work as nice and smooth as posible, they have worries, we have worries, they have duties, we have duties, or will they have everything for nothing? No, those luxiries have to be paid, Queen Sofia went once to an act with 102 degrees of fever, that's a Queen that despite of everything happens to know how was being on a exile, poor and now she appreciate what she have and respect the people of Spain, she's ther to serve not to be served, a real pro, or what are we talking here?.

Leonor is 2 weeks younger than Christian, so please give time for Letizia to spend time with her baby.
as far as i can tell, the only official event Mary went is the New Year's Reception and the Luncheon for Norwegian Royal Visit, the others are mostly family events or just walking around her home.

Letizia did go to the King's 30th Enthronement Anniv Reception, right? so, it's not completely not participating in official event.
As everyone has stated, it's only time and patience before we see her again in full-force, probably several events every week. remember, once she's back in her schedule, she will have more busy events than Mary.
and our wait won't be much longer... she shall be back in February.

Scherezada,

Let's face it, we are now in the 21st century and women have more rights today than when they were slaves to the men of the dark ages. Letizia is entitled to a maternity leave and based on her lengthy and arduous schedule of 2005, she deserves a minimum three-to-six month leave.

Since Letizia lives in a modern and loving, nuclear family, the other members of the family take over the responsibilities that she is unable to fufill because she has to devote her time to Leonor who is her priority.

Scherazade, I believe that you are informed badly about several things.

In Spain the women have legally right to 3 months of fall for maternity. For example, the Infanta Cristina inher work in the Caixa expired three months of fall. This it is her work; later official acts she can have 1 a week, or 2 one week but later not have any in one month ... it is something more sporadic. Letizia in a normal agenda can have three acts per week.
For the Spanish the common thing is that a mother this the first 3 months with her baby ... different from the case of Denmark where the mother can have a fall from 6 months to 1 year. Letizia will return to her agenda in irrigation ditch, including trips abroad ... probably her agenda will be much more complicated than that of the rest of princesses in her situation.

As for it of going to Lanzarote or going out to have dinner, Letizia has adapted always in these exits to the schedules to eat of the girl. In the dinners more late comes a bit or moves retires before. What cannot be claimed is that they change the hour of an official act with hundreds of persons, only in order that she goes.

Certainly, you put the example of the Queen of the Queen and her fever, Letizia also married with fever, for example. But here the topic not and sun am of benefit for Letizia, but a benefit for Leonor, which is what matters for all in this moment. I will say to you that the Queen when she had his children was still A Princess, and she was who taking care of her children ... when she was already Queen was she who was accompanying them on the college and was following their studies. The Queen knows import that is that a mother remain near her children, more when they are babies, probably it has been one of the first ones in supporting that the things were like that. Because this not and suna decision of Letizia, but of the Royal House and of whom it organizes the activities also.

Please,
1.- Why do you have to compare always and always Mary and Letizia?Maybe yo do not have other arguments against Letizia

2.- You have to renove your fonts of news:
Incorrect, Letizia was in the Royal Palace commemorating the 30th anniversary of the enthronement of King Juan Carlos. Also, She was, with the royal family in a dinner with personalities of Spain (This was not an official event but it is similar)

I remember you that Princess Letizia is not ill, so she can eat every day in restaurants etc..The trip to Canary Island was a good idea because, normally, the royal family spend their HOLYDAYS in Mediterranean sea.

The nannies does not give breast to Infanta Leonor every three hours.

This part has no sense, people pay nanies to take care of their kids and meanwhile what do pleople do?
Last part of the sentence, please, could you post the place that this information appears?

and specially with this couple that maybe won't pass the death of Juan Carlos test because Felipe is not as popular as his father and Letizia is yet less popular than Felipe, don't pay attention only to the magazines because they only believe in fairy tales that happens to sell, well,
After the wedding of Prince Felipe the attention on Princes of Asturias was multiply by 10. Not only magazines, also newspapers and television. For example, one of every 4 people watch the baptims of Infanta Leonor in tv.

Again, comparison with Danish monarchie. The monarchies do not disappear depending on if they are new or old. Monarchie of Persia was old and look now. Monarchie disappear when the royal family waste the money of the people.

When do you read that she will spend six month?? Please, put the link.

In the most of case, young people prepare the food together, man and woman. The job of a Princess ( of Spain, of Denmark...) is different to a normal person. More confortable? Depending with what job you compare it. If you compare with an african woman YES, if you compare with Paris Hilton NO.

102 degrees of fever?? She would be died  It is more dangeorus of a monarchie to appears like a "circus" wasting the money of the country ( we will have some recents examples) than to spend three months with her baby

Well, Im sure Letizia will be back to work as soon as possible. Probably february like most of people think. It is nonsense to compare always the princesses as they are different persons with different views, their countries and cultures are also different, so they will probably take different paths in life, hopefully all of them will do their work as they are supposed, but remember they are human beings and can also make mistakes. If Letizia wants to extend her maternity leave, she will be critiziced, if she interrupts it very soon (like two monthts or so), she will be critiziced, that is life for most of famous and royals, nothing they do will satisfied everyone. So she better take her decisions based on what is best for her kid, instead of trying to do what people thinks is better, as she will always find people who will find faults in everything they do.

In my opinion, isn't necessary to answer to Sheresade because she( or he) is totaly and dashly pro Mary. Even respecting the else's opinion ( like or dislike ) you can discuss with good arguments, not repeating absurdities only because you didn't like someone . It's ridiculous : " NOBODY IS PERFECT " ANS WE KNOW THAT SHERESADE DON'T LIKE LETIZIA....SO WHAT !!!!!

You are right in somethings but not in others. Letizia can go dinner when she wants and also other Princesses had several weeks off. But I only want to say that Letizia should go to Pascua Militar and Diplomatic Corps, they are important acts and they lasted only hours.

Royal duties, unlike some other jobs, does not need to be all or nothing. Princesses don't need to completely abstain from royal duties while on maternity leave, and can choose to attend some important events and not others.

However, as Letizia knows her body best and Leonor's schedule best, I think we should trust her judgement about why she could not attend certain events, no matter how important.

And even though the Pascua Militar and Diplomatic Corp events lasted only a few hours -- and it should be noted that even in a few hours a baby Lonor's age would've fed at least once -- and are important events in the Spanish royal family's agenda, they are also events that occur annually. So Letizia missed this year's Pascua Militar and Diplomatic Corp -- she'll attend next year's event, and the one after that and the 50 after those. In the grand scheme of things, how much does it matter that she missed one (or even a few) of these events in her entire role as Princess of Asturias or Queen of Spain?

And it's not as if because Letizia was unable to attend both of these events were cancelled altogether. The King and Queen and Prince Felipe were there -- and for many years before Letizia was on the scene it was just the three of them and that was just as good.
