King Felipe VI will join the Coronavirus Technical Management Committee this Wednesday, a coordination forum in which the four ministers who act as the delegated competent authority under the state of alarm (Health, Interior, Defense, and Transport) report daily and directly to the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez. The meeting of this committee that the monarch will attend will take place on Wednesday afternoon at the Zarzuela Palace.

I hope that soon King Felipe VI will make a statement about the Coronavirus drama. Several monarchs and heads of state have already done so and the King of Spain has not yet responded to this matter.

The situation is very grave in Spain I had expected the King to do this sooner.

The King was always aware of everything that happened. But a few days ago a state of emergency was declared.
But it should have been done yesterday or today.
It will certainly be one of the most important messages of Philip VI's reign.

The political situation in Spain is complex, the PSOE-Podemos government has been slow to agree and organize. They have also had problems with regional governments such as Catalonia, which did not want the State Government to take control.
The state of alarm was announced on Saturday after many hours of a meeting of the Council of Ministers. On Sunday there was a video conference with the presidents of all regions, and the economic measures have not been announced until today. Tomorrow the President has to go and announce his measures to Congress.
In short, as usually happens in other crises, the King has let the politicians reach their agreements, and once these have been reached, tomorrow they will go to Zarzuela to inform him and then he will give the message.
