Well, tonight, in "Saturday Sweet Life" he went to great lenghts to make up for that.
He called Letizia "Sister Courage". (One more ridiculous statement I add to my collection.)
He was referring to the fact that, according to his sources from the royal house, Letizia left the palace in the morning the body was discovered and, without Felipe, went to the apartment where her dead sister and her parents were. She did so against the advice of the resident doctor and of the house personnel. Other journalists on the "Saturday Sweet Life" set confirmed this trip by Letizia, according to their own royal house sources.

thanks toledo, it may just be that.
by the way, in one of the videos of the arrival of the family to the funeral there is sagrario ruiz de apodaca reporting. she is not only a journalist, but a close friend of letizia and felipe and she and her husband were invited to the wedding. she was also the one to inform in tve about felipe and letizia during their engagement period. it was also said that the princes spent more than one afternoon with her and her husband, lorenzo mila. i found it interesting that they chose her to report the news as she is also a close friend of the couple, perhaps letizia prefered her to do it instead of anyone else.

Thanks Duncan!
Letizia did what anyone would have done. You forget any advice and think only of going to where your sister is to help out. Depression is a very complicated matter that sometimes you just can't tell. One of my fellow office workers battled it all his adult life and no one knew about it in the office. And then he ended everything last november 2005. We just don't know what goes on when a person decides to take his or her life to end the pain other people don't realize they have.
Thanks everyone for all those video feds from Your Tube. Some are being moved out of their links but I'm trying to watch as many as possible right now...

I agree.
An interesting detail is that there was a rumour on Wednesday about Letizia having gone to the apartment. Later, some journalists made it clear that their sources from the royal house had strongly denied that. (On Saturday night, the royal house press service sent a message to a TV denying that Prince Felipe had gone to the apartment, a fact nobody had claimed.)
To Carlota: you might know that Sagrario's husband, Lorenzo Milá, is responsible for the evening news on the first channel of Spanish public television, TVE. He occupies the same post that Alfredo Urdaci, Letizia's former boss, used to have. Both the Milás and the Urdacis are reportedly close friends of Letizia. Nevertheless, I don't know if the friendship with Urdaci is still going on, as he fell in disgrace and eventually metamorphosed into a comedian.

I only had time to post about this awful evenement today...Poor Letizia. It must be awful to lost a sister in such a way when you are pregnant. Besides the deep sorrow of lossing a sister, it's the one of knowing that your newborn will never know her aunty in this life...

I guess. But you go to funeral of people you are not close to but out of respect. Felipe is their friend and Letizia is his wife whether they know her or not.
But then that is what we would do and it may not be their custom.
Or maybe they where not invited or had no time to get there.

Thank you for posting this video. I cried when the Prince took Letizia's Grandfather's hand to help him as they were walking to the car.

my condolences to CPss Letizia and her family. i read in an article that Erika's daughter Carla was not aware of her mother's death. Maybe they would tell her when the time is right.. she's only 6 years old and she lost her mother... i can't imagine what will be her reaction when she finally found out. such a terrible loss.

I wouldn't recommend that hair if you live in the Philippines like she does now. Next month is summer over there, scorching hottt.
Okay back to Erika.

I was wondering about the applause too. It seemed inappropriate, like the people gathered there thought they were watching something manufactured for their entertainment.

what the reporter said is that is a sign of condolence, like a sign of support to the princess and the prince of Asturias. Is like to say :"we are here, with you"
