It was a wonderful day for the SRF on Leonor's first celebration.
Letizia looks stunning and with her there is a very proud Felipe. Paloma had a perfect styling like always, also Telma. Of course the queen with her warm gestures. I must laugh when she wishpered "shh" to the kids
But it's really a bit weird that Froilan wasn't there. Surely he didn't felt well or something like that, I can't imagine another reason...
Well, the are my favorite family because of they way they handle such events, so down-to-earth but still amazing.
Very sweet pictures. Love the one of little Victoria caressing her cousin, of the Queen and Felipe kissing the baby, and the one of the Infanta smiling in her sleep.
Leonor is such as beautiful baby....i especially like her blue eyes
Letizia looks stunning as usual! and Letizia's sisters both looks great today!
to me....it seems like Cristina and Elena doesn't look that happy in some pics....and...Irene is CUTE@!!!!
they're both gonna be 2 heart breakers in the future!!!
The floral arrangements
Like in the previews baptisms of the Infantas’ children, the Valencian flowers have been chosen to decorate the hall of the palace where the baptism has taken place. This time, however, the Royal House has described its requests with a little more detail, according to space necessities. The arrangements were oblong, like the vase that was put close to the image of the virgin. The flowers arrived at La Zarzuela on Friday evening.
Readings
The Prince of Asturias, Don Felipe, was the one in charge to read a fragment of Ezequiel Prophet (concretely the vesicles 24-28 of chapter 36), during the baptism of his first-born.
The music
During the celebration, it was played: Misa Sinodal - Música: Francisco Palazón; Canto de entrada (Un solo Señor); (Letra: Berit. Música: L. Deiss); Salmo responsrial (Salmo 41); Aleluya (Música: T. Aragüés); Canto de ofertorio Ubi caritas) (Gregoriano); Santo Agnus Dei ; Canto de comunión (Banquete de Comunión). (César Augusto Franco & Francisco Palazón) Canto a la Virgen (María mírame). The music was interpreted by the Choir of the Religious Daughters of Santa Maria del Corazón de Jesús de Galapagar.
The banquet
Although, till now, the plates that have been served were not official announced, it’s known that, honouring the Queen - who doesn’t eat meat -, it was served plate of fish (merluza) with vegetables and, to please the taste of the Princes of Asturias, it was included in the menu a braised sirloin with potatoes. Like dessert, among other delights, it was served a chocolate biscuit cake (one of the favourites of the Queen and her daughter-in-law, the princess of Asturias).
De Todos los Santos
The name of Leonor maintains the tradition of the royal family, by adding the words de Todos los Santos, but it has also reflected a new time and generation, by simplifying the compound names (in all the royal dynasties, the Infantes of Spain have received between five and eight names). Among all the grandchildren of the kings, the first-born of Doña Elena is the one who has received more names: Felipe Juan Froilán de Todos los Santos.
Hardly has opened her eyes
Doña Leonor only opened her eyes at the beginning of the religious ceremony (with the sound of the choir, the noise of the cameras and the flashes) and when she received the baptismal waters. Besides (and not to deceive anybody of her family, who say that she is beautiful, quiet and that she hardly cries), Infanta Leonor didn't cry during the ceremony.
The center of all the attentions
The first-born of the Princes of Asturias received all the caresses, but specially from her mother (she only left the Queen to hold her during a brief moment, to pose for the official photos), the prince of Asturias (who caressed her neck as soon as he could) and the queen (who kissed her and was always attentive to her).
A praised Infanta
All the guests praised the beauty of Leonor, especially the nurses of doctor Recaséns, who took care of the Princess of Asturias, during her pregnancy and childbirth.
Blessing from Pope Benedict XVI
In his homily, cardinal Rouco spoke of the meaning of the sacrament of the baptism, and when concluding the ceremony, he read a special blessing for little Leonor that was sent from the Vatican by Pope Benedict XVI.
The same choir
During the religious celebration, like in the baptisms of the other grandchildren of the Kings, the choir of the Religious Daughters of Santa Maria del Corazón de Jesús (from Galapagar) interpreted several musical pieces. However, and being an Infanta of Spain, it was also interpreted a cradle song especially dedicated to Infanta Leonor.
I too love the photo of Leonor looking up at the Letizia. The Queen and Infanta Elena look very elegant. Although Letizia looked radiant and happy, I didn't care for her outfit, the same for Infanta Cristina. It's nice to see the King look so jovial!!
I do not deal because certain press is so cruel with Letizia. In this moment in a program of television, they are accusing her of monopolizing her daughter and not to allow that the Queen should take her. What more angers me, is that it is totalemente falsely, since in all the baptisms of the Royal Family they have been the Infantas those who have held her children. I do not deal because one is so cruelly, and because so as to gain hearing and money is slandered systematically to a person.:(

So lucky me for not speaking Spanish good enough to understand this rubbish Maybe Letizia looked too beautiful for someone to stand it and they didn't know what can they say against her
What more bothers me is that then the public opinion thinks badly about Letizia, and always it is for the same thing, from the opinions of pseudo ignorant journalists and badly meaningful. In addition, they have not even seen this official photo. There is no thing that more hates that, that the people that they have to inform have not even idea of what the say.
They are rabid journalists because only they have stopped to enter to the public mass media, and serious journalists who go many years working in the Zarzuela. The graceful thing, it is that the baptism has been exactly equal to that of Irene in July .... nevertheless, now they criticize everything and blame for everything Letizia .... I do not understand anything .... they are bad with greed.
Despite the familiar character that the Kings and the Princes wanted to confer to the event, the three elegant families - Borbón, Ortiz and Rocasolano – spared no efforts, at the time of getting dressed for this historical celebration.
HM Doña Sofía took an elegant suit in grey silver tones, combined with a brooch that belonged to Doña Mercedes.
The Princess of Asturias shone in the baptism of her daughter robs-manteau designed by Felipe Varela that was made in rebuked wool, in toasted and crude tones. The shoes were in champagne colour with high heels.
Infanta Elena chose the always elegant two pieces 'chanel' in pink and brown tones. The outfit of the Duchess of Lugo was completed with a set of family earrings and a necklace that belonged to Queen Victoria Eugenia.
Always austere in what accessories are concerned, Doña Letizia chose just a set of earrings that matched her blond hair.
Infanta Cristina chose once again the dark tones, this time in blue colour, combined with a brown skirt. The Infanta took in addition a set of spectacular long gold earrings, of Oriental inspiration.
The same tones
The mother of the Princess, Paloma Rocasolano, chose Felipe Varela, who signed a jacket in double crêpe of wool, in pink tone, with a body and skirt of silk and with gauze wheels in raspberry colour.
The mother and the maternal grandmother of Princess of Asturias chose the same range of tones, although Doña Enriqueta took a wool jacket and dress made of crêpe of silk.
In a totally different line, the paternal grandmother, Menchu, was the only one who dressed a two pieces of trousers in green velvet.
As for the sisters of Doña Letizia, they monopolized, once again, the attentions for their simple elegance. Erika Ortiz shone a blue and brown dress. Telma combined a skirt with a jacket in pale neutral and blue tones, with a pink belt, also designed by Felipe Varela. As complement, the sister of Doña Letizia shone one necklace of very modern design and a purse.
Definitively the photographer was a bit slept :p . At the end of the baptism the King gave a kiss to his granddaughter, it is a shame that there is no this photo, it was just after this caress.

:) I was watching the TV today and I got the impression that they rather compared Leonor's baptism with Felipe's baptism, when his Godmother was holding him. The Infantas held their children, that's true, but he weren't the next kings/queens of Spain, they weren't Infante/Infanta.
I didn't know Leonor's christening was today so I was pleasantly surprised to see a brief news report of the event a few minutes ago. Its nice to see that everytime there is a major event involving Felipe & Letizia (their wedding, birth of Leonor, and now her baptism) it is covered, however briefly, in the Canadian media.
I will post some screen caps a little later.
Why is Zapateros wife wearing a hat, she looked a little out of place and the only one wearing one, and the hat looked more like a nurses hat than a Jackie O pill box hat

They have said it after seeing all the images of the baptisms of the children of the Infantas, because they had stayed in ridiculously. But it was 38 years ago, and the customs change, besides the Prince neither was Infante and the Monarchy nor existed. So the comparison does not cost either. Also Fernando VII had 20 names and Leonor only one.:p
Only they do it for being a nuisance. Also they have said that the Infantas were not holding his children during the whole baptism, and it is uncertain because if they were doing it.
Always they have to look for something to criticize, though it is stupid. Besides, they have said many incorrect things. Only they know gossip and are pernicious as journalists. The one that has said the menu, for example, has not succeeded in anything. And the supposed specialist in protocol ... without commentaries ... he had not even idea...
Though I do not surprise anything of this program garbage ... nevertheless the article of Informe Semanal, if that it was a good article, documented good, with real specialists like historians, biographers and jurists...
