The article says King Abdullah and Queen Rania are guests of honour at a “noble dinner” as part of the Aspen Institute activities, but it doesn’t give a date or time.

Are we sure they are scheduled to attend Expo in Spain on Tuesday?

It seems the trip to the U.S. is largely a holiday for the couple:

Jordan's royal family visits :flowers:
King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein is touring the western United States this week on a motorcycle with his son Prince Hussein, making several stops in Southern Oregon. His stay began with an economic forum in Idaho July 12 followed by what his Web site called a "several-day private visit."

" The dinner party tasted Pyramid beers and Rogue Valley wines, including the king's local favorite, Velocity, a red wine from RoxyAnn Winery. King Abdullah insisted waiters leave hors d'oeuvres trays on the table instead of serving."
:eek::eek::eek:
I didn't know he drinks, isn't he a descendant of the Prophet PBUH?

When will people 'get it' that the image that Rania and Abdullah like to project is not really who they are or what they do

I have deleted a few posts which talked about lifestyles of gulf-royals, King Abdullah drinking etc. This topic is about King Abdullah & Queen Rania’s trip to the U.S and not about lifestyle’s of the royals therefore let’s all get back on topic.
Further off-topic posts will be deleted without notice.

I hope they had fun whitewater rafting. That is one of the most enjoyable things to do in the outdoors, IMO. I always go about once a year. Does anyone know where it was?

"White water rafting is a must on the to do list while visiting Central Oregon ... King Abdullah the Second of Jordan and his son, Prince Hussein, braved the rapids on the Big Eddy of the Deschutes River."

King Abdullah: World would welcome Obama

King Abdullah and Queen Rania al Abdullah and their entourage arrived in Aspen on Sunday night. The royal family stayed in top-floor suites at the luxurious Little Nell Hotel at the base of Aspen Mountain, according to a local man who was involved with some aspects of their visit. Queen Rania and some of the family's four children were said to have gone rafting on the Roaring Fork River on Monday.......

Queen Noor, who was born in the U.S. to an Arab-American family, once spent time shortly after college working in Aspen and for years has been encouraging the king and queen to visit here.

"I've spoken to he and Rania many times about what a wonderful place it is for the family," she said. "And about the physical, intellectual and spiritual component, not only of the institute, but of this extraordinary valley. And they feel it.".......

King: The opportunity is available in the Middle East to make peace between Arabs and Israelis

. . . In remarks at the Aspen Institute in the State of Colorado, His Majesty said Peace in the Middle East is achievable and so is the region’s future as a zone of prosperity and stability. “This is essential for the peace and progress of our entire world,” he added.

. . . In his speech, which was delivered in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein, Royal Court Chief Bassim Awadallah and Jordan’s Ambassador in Washington Prince Zeid Bin Raad, the King pointed to the disappointment of Arab people, adding Israel was still building settlements in the occupied West Bank. “We see walls and roadblocks still dissecting Palestinian communities; we see the Palestinian economy still in shambles,” he said. I've had the pleasure of vacationing along the Oregon coast many years ago. It is a beautiful area, though the beaches are not safe for swimming due to the strong currents. Glad to see that the HM enjoyed his trip.

Remarks by His Majesty King Abdullah II at the Aspen Institute

...Let me add, that peace needs work on the ground as well as at the negotiating tables. Governments, the private sector, and NGOs are all needed to create the conditions for a sustainable peace and to restore progress toward normal life. I want to take this opportunity to commend the Aspen Institute for its innovative contributions - from the US-Palestinian Partnership, to your Middle East Strategy Group. I especially appreciate your emphasis on practical results. To the people whose lives you change, this Institute represents the spirit of America - and more: it represents a win-win partnership between our peoples, creating a better future, a future we share... - Full Article
