Reminds me of the time the Supremes were on the Johnny Carson show: Diana Ross sat down, and the other two girls were left standing awkwardly behind.

I saw no First Lady and no Queen.

Where is the time that ladies like a Michelle Obama, a Laura Bush or a Hillary Clinton actually looked human indeed and not like vacuumed and airbrushed fashionistas on the White House lawns. The same counts for Rania. A completely expressionless appearance.

King, Spanish monarch discuss ties, Mideast issues

Amman, Apr. 26 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II and Spanish King Philip VI, on Wednesday, discussed ways to cement relations between Jordan and Spain.

In a phone call, the two leaders also discussed regional and international developments.

King meets former information ministers, media figures

Amman, April 26 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II, Wednesday, said his recent visit to the U.S. focused on the Palestinian issue, the outcome of the recent Arab summit, the Syrian crisis, the situation in Iraq and the fight against terrorism and extremism.

He also said his visit to Washington had touched on the importance of Jordanian-US economic cooperation and the U.S. assistance to face economic and financial woes.

Queen Rania meets with supporters of the Jordan River Foundation

Amman, April 27 (Petra)--Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met on Thursday with visiting friends and supporters of the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) to relay Jordan’s economic and social pressures as a result of the Syrian refugee crisis.

During the meeting, Queen Rania highlighted the challenges facing Jordan and thanked the group, which included leaders and experts from various sectors, for its fundraising activities.

King honours winners of King Abdullah II Award for World Interfaith Harmony Week

Amman, April 30 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday patronized the King Abdullah II World Interfaith Harmony Week award ceremony.

During the ceremony, which took place at Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty presented the awards to four winners.

The World Interfaith Harmony Week was initiated by the King, who put it forward to the 56th session of the UN General Assembly, which unanimously adopted it.

First prize was awarded to the Calgary Interfaith Council in Canada, in recognition of its efforts to boost peaceful coexistence against extremism, bias and conflict.

King meets Palestinian president


Amman, April 30 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The meeting comes within ongoing coordination to breathe life into the peace process and Palestinian cause.

The meeting also touched on the outcomes of His Majesty's recent talks in Washington with US President Donald Trump as well as Abbas's planned visit to the US.

Amman, April 30 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received Apostolic Administrator of Jerusalem, Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa and Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop William Shomali.

The meeting touched on the importance of enhancing dialogue amongst followers of various monotheistic religions.

The meeting also touched on efforts being exerted by Jordan to preserve the Islamic and Christian holy place in Jerusalem, as well Arab Christians' role and contribution in this regard.

King, Sultan Qaboos hold talks in Muscat

Muscat, May.14 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Said, on Sunday, held talks in Muscat, on relations between the two countries and the latest developments in the region.

The talks underlined the depth of fraternal and historic relations between Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman, emphasizing the need to promote them in all fields.

Queen Rania meets with Amman Design Week 2017 Team

Amman, May. 14 (Petra) -- Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, on Sunday, met with the Amman Design Week 2017 (ADW) team for a brief on the project’s progress and an update on its newest programs.

With the support of Her Majesty, the Amman Design Week 2017 main exhibition will be held at the Ras Al Ain Hanger Gallery, and will comprise the second edition of the annual program.

The project, first inaugurated in September of last year, aims to showcase designs and talents of local, regional, and international designers and establish Amman as the regional hub for innovation, expression and experimentation.

Queen receive Humanitarian Award at Charity Gala in France

mman, May 21 (Petra) -- Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah received an award at the 2017 Fashion for Relief charity gala in France, in recognition of her humanitarian efforts towards children caught in conflict.

The charity gala was held in support of Save the Children’s work in Jordan and in areas of conflict and crises around the world and the organization’s Every Last Child Campaign.

The Queen expressed her gratitude to founder and spokeswoman of Fashion for Relief, Ms. Naomi Campbell, and the attending guests, for gathering in support of Save the Children.

King chairs meeting on national human resources development strategy

Amman, June 11 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday chaired a meeting to follow up on the implementation of the National Strategy for Human Resources Development 2016-2025.
During the meeting, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, His Majesty was briefed on efforts exerted to unify the work of various institutions and programs in the vocational training sector and uplifting their efficiency and the quality of training provided.

King, top US administration officials discuss Mideast, ties

Washington, July 1 (Petra) –– His Majesty King Abdullah II held a series of meetings with top US administration officials during his current private visit to the United States.

The King discussed developments in the Middle East and ways to further cement the strategic Jordanian-US partnership during talks with Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Defence Secretary James Mattis, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and Jared Kushner, senior adviser to President Donald Trump.
