King urges efforts to build on human rights achievements
Amman, Oct 16 (Petra) –– His Majesty King Abdullah II Sunday underlined the need to further build on human rights achievements Jordan had made, and enhance society's awareness on the issue "in a manner compatible with the Kingdom's advanced status in this field". He told National Centre For Human Rights Chairman of the Board of Trustees (NCHR), Mohammad Adnan Al Bakhit, who handed him a copy of the 2015 annual report on the condition of human rights in Jordan, of the importance of benefiting from the centre's recommendations "to build on them in a way to achieve justice and equality among all".

King, Belgian monarch discuss ties
Amman, Nov. 15 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II and King Philippe, King of the Belgians, on Tuesday, discussed ways to boost bilateral ties in various fields.
His Majesty and the Belgian monarch reviewed the latest regional and international developments, stressing the need for coordination and cooperation on these developments between the various actors in the international community, leading to strengthening security and stability in the Middle East and the world.
King Abdullah and King Philippe emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts, within a holistic strategy, to address extremism and terrorism, which threaten world peace.
The Belgian monarch expressed appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, in dealing with various regional issues.
King Philippe is visiting Jordan to check on his country's forces participating, along with a number of countries, in the international coalition against terrorism.

King listens to reply of Parliament to Speech from the Throne
Amman, Nov. 20 (Petra) -- The two Houses of Parliament on Sunday, presented their replies to the Speech from the Throne which was delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II at the opening of the 18th Parliament’s first ordinary session on November 7.
Senate President Faisal Al Fayez said that the Senate will work in line with the Speech from the Throne, and will not allow anyone to infringe on citizens' rights and dignity as all Jordanians have equal rights and duties. The Senate, he added, will address the challenges facing modernization and development with determination.
"The Senate high values Your Majesty's relentless efforts to defend the Al Aqsa Mosque and all Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem," he added.
Al Fayez also voiced the Senate's appreciation of the attention given by His Majesty to the judicial sector as well as his keenness to develop and modernize this sector.
