Prince of Orange Visits Military Rehabilitation Center

The prince of Orange visited the military rehabilitation center (MRC) in Doorn. The prince spoke with soldiers that are rehabilitating, most of them got wounded in Afghanistan. After these talks he opened a new wing of the rehabilitation center. Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven yesterday was presented with the first copy of a new book regarding the history of Soestdijk Palace; “Paleis Soestdijk – Drie eeuwen huis van Oranje’ (‘Soestdijk Palace – Three Centuries of the House of Orange’). Queen Beatrix sends Condolences to Aircrash Victims

Queen Beatrix has sent her deepest condolences, expressing her profound sadness, to the victims of yesterday’s aeroplane crash and their families. The Queen is in contact with the authorities in being updated on the crash. Nine people were killed and eighty-six injured when Turkish Airlines Flight 1951, en route from Istanbul, crashed on its approach to the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Dutch Queen Beatrix yesterday, February 24, opened the ‘200 Years of the Prix de Rome’ exhibition at the Rotterdam Kunsthalle. The exhibition highlights past winners of the Dutch branch of the art and architecture prize, originally founded in 1666 by King Louis XIV of France. “Matchmaker” to Beatrix and Claus Passed Away

Future of Soestdijk Palace Still Unclear

Newspaper De Telegraaf claims that they have secret information about the future of Soestdijk. Princess Máxima Visits Oss

Princess Máxima visited the Dutch town of Oss on February 12. The Princess visited ‘The Inner’ cultural centre where she was informed of project work in the community, before awarding the town with a prize for their participation and citizenship in 2008. The town won the prize for the manual their residents developed on initiatives they are making in their town.

According to the Argentinian press the Dutch crown princely couple bought a farm called Estancia Pilpilcura in Pilcaniyeu, Argentina, for the amount of 3,5 million dollars. The rumours are not denied by the RVD. Willem-Alexander & Máxima Visit Antarctica

The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima are currently on an expedition to Antarctica, as part of the Dutch branch of International Polar Year.
