Countess Anne-Dorte of Rosenborg, the widow of Count Christian of Rosenborg, passed away on January 2nd. She was 66. She passed away peacefully at the Gentofte Hospital, where she had been admitted after Christmas with respiratory problems caused by her long-running battle with throat cancer. Her three daughters – Josephine, Camilla and Feodora – were by her bedside. A funeral service will be held on January 9th, at the Lyngby Kirke. … Continue reading

Denmark’s Princess Marie has added two new patronages to her portfolio, bringing her total to thirteen. The new patronages are in the fields of health and marine conservation, and previously had Prince Henrik, the Prince Consort, as their patron. A new painting of the Danish Royal Family was unveiled last week, ahead of its display at Amalienborg. Thomas Kluge, a Danish artist who has previously painted portraits of members of the family on numerous occasions, was the man commissioned to create the portrait.
