Spanish State Visit to Angola: Last Day
Today, Wednesday February 8, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia started their last day in Angola with a separate agenda.
In the morning the King, along with the President of the Republic of Angola, Joao Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, officially opened the Angola-Spain business meeting entitled: “Together building the future”, focused on the cooperation between the countries in the fields of energy and infrastructure.
The Queen, in the meantime, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Afonso Dias, paid a visit to the Lucrecia Paím Maternity Hospital. The Queen and the First Lady toured the breast milk bank, the neonatology rooms, the area for HIV detection, the triage room and also met with patients and medical and health personnel. During the visit at the hospital took place a presentation focused on the “Born Free to Shine” campaign that is promoted the Ngana Zanza Foundation, chaired by the First Lady. This campaign it was launched in 2018 “to eradicate childhood AIDS by 2030”.
Later King Felipe and Queen Letizia were reunited to visit the Angolan National Assembly, where they were received by the President of the Chamber, Carolina Cerqueira. Following a meeting with the President of the Chamber, the Royal Couple attended a plenary session of the Assembly.
In the afternoon the King and the Queen ended the state visit with an official farewell by the President and the First Lday in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace.
