Official Visit to the Dutch Caribbean: Aruba – Day One
Following a day of break, today, Monday January 30, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and the Princess of Orange continued the official visit to the Dutch Carribean in Aruba.
The Royal Couple and the Princess were officially welcomed by the Governor, Alfonso Boekhoudt, in a welcoming ceremony held on Wilhelmina Square, in Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba.
After that, there was a meeting with the presidents of the political groups at the Parliament and then there was a visit to the Cocolishi, the residence of the Council of Ministers, where the Royal Couple and the Princess of Orange met with the Prime Minister and ministers.
Following a lunch hosted by the Prime Minister, the King, the Queen and the Princess paid a visit to the junior general secondary education Filomena College in San Nicolas where they attended a school performance about Boy Ecury, an Aruban-Dutch resistance hero. Then they took a walk through the streets of the city to admire several colorful murales fmade by international and local artists.
Later the Royal Couple and the Princess paid a visit to the Museum of Industry. The King, the Queen and the Princess ended the first day in Aruba by attending a street performance with a carnival performance.
