South African President Begins State Visit to Britain

Today, Tuesday November 22, the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, started a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, the first state visit of King Charles’ reign.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, on behalf of the King, greeted the President at the Corinthia Hotel and then they moved to Horse Guards Parade for the official welcoming ceremony.
At noon took place the official welcoming ceremony at Horse Guards Parade in the presence of King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The King and the President inspected a guard of honour and the national anthems were played. Following the welcoming ceremony the royal party traveled in carriages to Buckingham Palace where took place a private lunch.
After the lunch, in the Picture Gallery, The King, the Queen, the President and the Prince and Princess of Wales viewed an exhibition of South African related objects from the Royal Collection. They were joined by members of the royal family.
In the afternoon President Ramaphosa paid a visit to Westminster Abbey, where he laid a wreath at the grave of the unknown soldier and then he visited the Parliament.
In the evening King Charles, accompanied by Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales, hosted a state banquet in of President Ramaphosa. At the banquet were also present the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
