State Visit from Italy to the Netherlands – Day Two

The second day of the Italian state visit started today, Thursday November 10, with a laying wreath ceremony attended by President Mattarella and his daughter, Laura, at The Hague War Monument 1940-1945 that commemorates the victims of the Second World War. The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, was present as well.
Then the President had several institutional meetings with the President of the Senate, the President of the House of Representatives and with the Prime Minister.
At lunchtime the Prime Minister hosted a government lunch held at the Binnenhof. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were present as well.
In the evening, President Mattarella and his daughter, Laura, hosted a concert for the King and the Queen at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. They attended a piano and cello concert performed by Beatrice and Ludovica Rana.
The President and his daughter, tomorrow Friday November 11, will spend the third and last day in the Netherlands by visiting Maastricht to mark the 30th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty that established the European Union. They will conlude the state visit in Heerlen where they will visit the Thermenmuseum, “an archaeological museum that includes the best-preserved Roman bathhouse in the Netherlands”.
