Dutch King and Queen Visit to the Peel Region

Today, Thursday September 15, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima paid a visit to the Peel Region, in the province of North Brabant.
The first stop was in the municipality of Deurne where the Royal Couple was welcomed by the Mayor, Greet Buter, at the Deurnsche Peel, nature reserve. During the tour of the nature reserve, the King and the Queen were informed about “developments in nature conservation, the future of the agricultural sector, new forms of social cooperation and innovative entrepreneurship”. The Royal Couple also met with farmers to talk about their agricultural businesses.
The following stop was the municipality of Gemert-Bakel where King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were welcomed by the Mayor, Michiel van Veen, in the town hall. At the town hall the Royal Couple met with care employees, former corona patients, relatives of corona victims and other people who helped during the pandemic and they were also informed about “the impact of corona on care and society in the Peel”. Afterwards the King and the Queen paid a visit to the Boerenbondsmuseum, a living open-air museum that is “a representation of a Brabant village at the beginning of the last century”.
The last stop of the visit was in the municipality of Helmond at the Automotive Campus, “a meeting and business location in the field of automotive (technology) and smart mobility”. During the visit the King and the Queen took a ride in a self-driving shuttle and attended a round table meeting focused “on innovations in the field of mobility or energy”.
