Spanish Royals Present The Princess of Girona Foundation Awards

Yesterday, Monday July 4th, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and Girona and the Infanta Doña Sofía, presented the 2022 Princess of Girona Foundation Awards in a ceremony held at the AGBAR Water Museum in Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona.
This year’s laureates were: for Scientific Research, Eleonora Viezzer; for Arts and Literature, María Hervás; for Social Efforts, Claudia Tecglen; for Business, Elisenda Bou and for the International Prize, Trang Nguyen.
In her speech in Spanish, Catalan and English, the Princess of Asturias and Girona expressed her joy for being in Catalonia to attend an event that recognize “the strength, talent, effort and commitment of our five winners”.
The King, in his speech in Spanish and Catalan, expressed his “pleasure to be able to meet again in Catalonia on the occasion of such a special day. The day when five new values, five new benchmarks, are recognized by our Foundation for their trajectory, for their contributions in different fields, for their human qualities and for their sense of commitment”.
The Prince of Girona Foundation was established on June 2009 to provide “social value through support for young people”. King Felipe, then the Prince of Asturias, was named its Honorary President and, after his proclamation as King, her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias and of Girona holds the Honorary Presidency of the Foundation.
