State Visit from Finland to Sweden – Last Day

The second and last day of the state visit from Finland to Sweden started today, Wednesday May 18, with a business seminar attended by King Carl Gustaf, Finland’s President Sauli Niinistö and Finnish and Swedish Ministers and business leaders. The seminar was focused on the green transition.
Following the seminar, the King and the President, along with Prince Carl Philip, paid a visit to the Berga Naval Base. The King, the President and Prince Carl Philip attended “a demonstration of the Amphibious Regiment’s and Fourth Naval Fleet’s ships and equipment” and partecipated in a meeting focused on the Swedish-Finnish defense cooperation.
In the meantime Queen Silvia and the First Lady visited the Swedish Academy where they were infomed about “the academy’s work with dictionaries, scholarships, the Nobel Prize in Literature and the publication of books”. Then, at the Nordic Museum, the Queen and the First Lady visited a new activity center for Ukrainian children organized by the museum and the non-profit organization Beredskapslyftet. The center “aims to offer children who have fled Ukraine a safe environment with routines and social interaction.”
At lunchtime the Royal Couple, the Presidential Couple, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia attended a luncheon hosted by the president of the Citizen Council of city of Stockholm and held at the Golden Hall of the City Hall.
In the afternoon the King, the Queen and the First Lady paid a visit to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) headquarter were they attended a presentation focused on “the Swedish-Finnish co-operation in crisis preparedness and civil defense”.
The state visit ended with a reception hosted by the President and the First Lady in honour of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia at the Embassy of Finland in Stockholm. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia were present as well.
