Last Day in Bangladesh for Crown Princess Mary

Today, Wednesday April 27, third and last day of the working visit to Bangladesh, Crown Princess Mary, along with Minister for Development Cooperation Flemming Møller Mortensen, paid a field visits in Satkhira, a district in southwestern Bangladesh.
In Satkhira, the world’s largest mangrove ecosystem, the Crown Princess and the Minister were informed about the impact of climate change in this area where “millions of people have had houses and fields destroyed due to rising water levels and a higher frequency of cyclones”.
Crown Princess Mary and the Minister met with people affected by climate change, visited “a number of cyclone protection projects in the area, which help to protect the fragile community against floods by cyclones” and were informed about their functionality.
Afterwards took place a boat trip in the Sundarban mangrove area during which, with the forest officials, the Crown Princess and the Minister talked about place’s biodiversity.
At the airport, before taking off, the Crown Princess and the Minister were received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, AK Abdul Momen and his wife Selina Momen.
