Dutch Regional Visit to Dune and Bulb Region

Today, Thursday April 7, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima paid a visit to the Dune and Bulb Region, in the north of the province of South Holland.
The first stop was in the municipality of Lisse where the Royal Couple was received by the King’s Commissioner, Jaap Smit, at the headquarter of the football club FC Lisse. There, they met with seven presidents of regional clubs and talked about amateur football from the region.
Then the King and the Queen moved to Teylingen to visit the W.F. LEENEN company. This company “is a leader in the breeding, cultivation, germination and export of Daffodils and Sonatini’s” and also grows bulb for the flower production. The King and the Queen toured the facility and met with the representatives of the company.
Afterwards the Royal Couple went to the municipality of Hillegom to visit a tulip field where they posed for the pics.
The following stop was Katwijk where the King and the Queen were welcomed by the mayor, Cornelis Visser. The visit in Katwijk was focused on the tourism sector, they met with representatives of the sector from all over the region in a beach pavillion where they also toured beach houses.
The last stop of the visit was in Noordwijk at the Space Campus, “the beating heart of a network of international companies, world-class universities, innovative start-ups and scientific researchers”. The King and the Queen attended a presentations made by young entrepreneurs “about the way in which they apply techniques from space travel in areas such as healthcare, climate, agriculture and safety”.
