The Princess of Asturias Award 2021

Today, Friday October 22, at around noon, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, along with the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia, attended several audiences at the Hotel de la Reconquista in Oviedo, ahead of the ceremony of the Princess of Asturias Awards.
The King, the Queen and the Princesses met with the winners of the 2021 Asturias Medals, the winners of the “End of Degree 2019/2020” awards from the University of Oviedo, the protective of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, the presidents of the Jury of the Princess of Asturias Awards, members of the Board of Trustees and, the recipients of the 2021 Princess of Asturias Awards.
In late afternoon Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, along with the Princess of Asturias, Infanta Sofia and Queen Sofia, attended the 2021 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony which was held at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo.
This year’s laureates are: for Arts, Marina Abramović ; for Communication and Humanities, Gloria Steinem; for Social Sciences, Amartya Sen; for Technical and Scientific Research, Katalin Karikó, Drew Weissman, Philip Felgner, Uğur Şahin, Özlem Türeci, Derrick Rossi and Sarah Gilbert; for Sport, Teresa Perales; for Literature, Emmanuel Carrère; for International Cooparetion, CAMFED, Campaign for Female Education; and for the Concord Award, José Andrés and the NGO World Central Kitchen.
