Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel in Italy, Day One: Rome
Today, Monday October 18, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, along with Minister for Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs Anna Hallberg and a large Swedish business delegation, started in Rome a three-day working visit to Italy.
The visit began at the Control Room of the Smart Road Anas on the highway A91 “Rome – Fiumicino Airport. ANAS is the Italian government-owned company deputed to the construction and maintenance of Italian motorways and state highways. The Royal Couple was informed about Smart Road Anas project that aims to improve “road safety and making traffic flows more efficient based on a complex digital platform that is articulated on the road network as a “nervous system” with the support of technologies”. During the visit was signed a cooperation agreement between the President of Anas Claudio, Andrea Gemme and the Director of the Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy in Sweden, Jan Larsson.
Then the Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel moved to Piazza San Silvestro, in Rome city center, where they attended the inauguration of the exhibition “Immagini che cambiano il Mondo – Images that change the World” along with IKEA Italia CEO Asunta Enrile and Ericsson Italia CEO Emanuele Iannetti.
The exhibition, invented by the Swedish photographer Tomas Gunnarsson, is focused on Swedish values and the Swedish commitment to gender equality.
The Royal Couple also visited the IKEA pop-up store that is located close by Piazza San Silvestro.
The first day in Rome ended with a dinner at the Swedish Ambassador’s Residence hosted by Sweden’s ambassador in Rome, Jan Björklund and his wife Anette Brifalk. At the dinner were also present of the Italian business community and the state administration, among others the President of the Senate of the Italian Republic, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati.
