Today, Friday June, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde handed out the “Queen Mathilde Prize” 2021 in a ceremony held in the Orangerie of the Castle of Laeken. The theme of this year was “Beautifully resilient”, dedicated to the response to the Coronavirus. The award went to “Debateville”, an organization founded in 2019 that aims to “promote social mobility and cohesion by providing young people with essential skills through debate”. The project presented by the association aims to help young people to “make their voices heard and express their opinion on topics that are important to them”.
In her speech the Queen stressed the importance “to support young people to overcome this crisis. It is important to guide young people, to enable them to discover their capacities and talents, to get to know their own inner strength”.
The “Queen Mathilde Prize” is awarded every year to an organization that helps vulnerable people and young children.
