Queen Máxima Turns 50

Her Majesty Queen Máxima celebrates her 50th birthday today. She was born Máxima Zorreguieta on May 17, 1971 Buenos Aires, Argentina. Daughter of Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta (died in 2017) and María del Carmen Cerruti, the Queen has two brothers, Martin and Juan, a sister, Ines (died in 2018) and three half-sisters, María, Ángeles and Dolores. Máxima grew up in Buenos Aires and, after completing secondary school at the Northlands School in 1988, she enrolled Universidad Católica Argentina and in 1995 she graduated in Economics. After graduating, Máxima from July 1996 to March 1998 at HSBC James Capel Inc. in New York. Then she worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson until August 1999. Until May 2000 Máxima worked at Deutsche Bank in New York and then she moved to Brussels where she worked until April 2001 at the EU office of the Deutsche Bank.
Máxima met the then Crown Prince Willem-Alexander in April 1999 in Seville, Spain, during the Seville Spring Fair.
On March 30, 2001,the then Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus announced the engagement of the Prince of Orange to Máxima Zorreguieta. Máxima and Willem-Alexander married on February 2, 2002 at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam.
Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander have three daugthers: Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, born on December 7, 2003; Princess Alexia, born on June 26, 2005 and Princess Ariane, born on April 10, 2007.
Queen Máxima holds several patronages and since 2009 she is Special advocate of the UN Secretary General for inclusive finance for development.
To mark this very special birthday a musical performance, without audience, was held on May 12 at the Royal Theater Carré, at the presence of the Royal Couple, their daughters and Princess Beatrix.
In addiction yesterday the Dutch Royal Court released three new photos of the Queen taken by the King in the garden of Huis ten Bosch Palace.
