Dutch Regional Visit to Southeast Fryslân

Today, Thursday September 17, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima paid a regional visit to Southeast Fryslân.
The first stop was in the municipality of Oosterwolde were the Royal Couple was welcomed by Arno Brok, King’s Commissioner of Fryslân.
In Oosterwolde the King and the Queen visited Ecomunitypark, a ecological working landscape that offers work spaces to companies in a sustainable environment. The Royal Couple toured the Ecomunitypark by bike and then they visited ECOstyle, a company that produces ecologically products for healthy soil, plants and animals and also they visited Biosintrum, a center of research for more sustainable working methods, products and services.
Afterward King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima moved to Tijnje, a village in the municipality of Opsterland, where they visited the De Deelen cheese farm. Founded in 1976, the farm owns about 240 cows produce 6000 liters of milk every day and three quarters of this is used for the production of milk. The Royal Couple toured the farm and met with the owners.
Later the King and the Queen paid a visit to the Singelland secondary school in Drachten where they attended a lesson focused on the Fryske language and culture.
The regional visit ended in De Veenhoop, a small village in the municipality of Smallingerland. There the Royal Couple was informed about the Sintrale Kommisje Skûtsjesilen, an organization founded in 1945 that hosts the annual sailing competitions on the Frisian waters with historic freight sailing ships. During the visit the King and the Queen made a short cruise on board of the Zevenwolden, the starting ship of the Sintrale Kommisje Skûtsjesilen.
