It was announced that Princess Beatrice of York was engaged to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a property tycoon, on September 26. A selection of engagement photographs taken by photographer Misan Harriman and Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, were released by the Palace.

In a statement, Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi said “we are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together”, and then “we share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness”.

Edoardo comes from an Italian aristocratic family, and is known as “Edo” to his family and friends. His father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, is a former alpine skier and competed in the 1972 Winter Olympics. His mother, Nikki Williams-Ellis, divorced his father and later married Christopher Shale, a senior figure in the Conservative Party.

Edo has a son from his previous relationship with Chinese American Dara Huang.

The Duke and Duchess of York said in a public statement that further details of the wedding, which is taking place next year, will be announced later on.
