On December 25, the British royal family were photographed walking to St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk for their annual Christmas gathering.
Those in attendance were the Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Eugenie and new husband Jack Brooksbank, Princess Beatrice, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor and her brother the Viscount Severn, Zara and Mike Tindall, Peter and Autumn Phillips and their two children Savannah and Isla. The Duke of York accompanied the Queen to the church due to the Duke of Edinburgh’s absence. The Duchess of Cornwall was also not present at the church service due to a heavy cold.
The royal family celebrate their main Christmas festivities on Christmas Eve, as per German tradition, and Mike Tindall stated in a recent interview that the Christmas Day celebrations for the family are more relaxed, adding that the Downtown Abbey Christmas Special is a favourite amongst the royals.
During the 1960s, the royal family spent Christmas at Windsor Castle though have since used George V’s beloved Sandringham Estate as the main seasonal residence.
Her Majesty was joined by several members of the Royal Family.
