Crown Princess Mary Presents Cancer Society Honour Awards
As patron of the Danish Cancer Society, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark presented their Honour Awards on Sunday during a ceremony at Copenhagen’s Royal Danish Playhouse.
The award is granted to an individual or group who have “made special efforts in the field of cancer”, for which the recipient is awarded 50,000DKK. This year’s winners were Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the Chairman of the Danish Regions, Bent Hansen, in recognition of their “efforts in connection with the introduction of cancer packs ten years ago”. The packs help to ensure quicker treatment of cancer patients across Denmark. TrygFondens Familiehus at Aarhus University Hospital has been bequeathed the 50,000DKK prize.
The awards ceremony takes place annually on World Cancer Day, and this year is the sixth time Princess Mary has presented the award.
