Dutch Royals Attend Opening of the Holland Dance Festival
Last night, Thursday January 25, Princess Beatrix, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien were present for the opening of the sixteenth edition of the Holland Dance Festival at the Zuiderstrandtheater in The Hague.
The festival showcases international dance productions from nineteen countries and also organizes educational activities, projects, workshops and customized lessons. During the festival will be presented fifty-two performances of leading international dance productions.
Yesterday, during the gala, the Jiřà Kylián Ring Award was presented, a prize that is awarded to people who have contributed innovatively or progressively to the development of dance in The Netherlands. This year the prize was awarded to two people: Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, the most famous dance couple of the Netherlands awarded for their contribution “for decades to Dutch dance art in general and to the stimulation and support of new generations of dancers in particular”.
The Holland Dance Festival will last until February 11th in The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
