Clarence House Announces Prince Harry’s Engagement to Meghan Markle

After rabid speculation last week, Clarence House has this morning announced the engagement of Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle.

“His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle…His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents,” the announcement read.

The wedding is due to take place in Spring 2018, and the couple – who have been dating for almost 18 months and got engaged earlier this month in London – will live at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.

A statement released on behalf of Ms Markle’s parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, says they are “incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry” and they “wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together”.

Prince Harry and Ms Markle will appear before the media this afternoon at Kensington Palace.
